For YG Entertainment, 2012 was certainly about promoting Big Bang, putting out back-to-back songs with combinations of G-Dragon as a solo and the team as a whole. This year, YG seems to be employing a similar strategy. This time, YG is going all in on 2NE1.

Similar to how Big Bang paved the way for G-Dragon last year, CL is leading 2NE1 back to the land of K-pop with the release of her solo debut album, soon to be followed by 2NE1’s comeback with a new song in June. Only time will tell whether the similar tactic will work out for two years in a row or not, but it will probably be successful. Why? Simply because it is 2NE1 we are talking about.

With CL having prepared the stage with her solo debut of THE BADDEST FEMALE, 2NE1 is reported to have pulled up their comeback date from July to June.

According to sources, the choreographers for 2NE1 have already visited YG Entertainment and flown back, leading to speculations that the choreography has been finalized.

An associate at YG stated, “2NE1 enjoyed great success last year with their first world tour, but we could not help but feel that we could have done better in terms of producing new songs. We only released one new song last year. So we will be focusing on bringing something new to our fans this year.”

Article: TVN Visits “2NE1 Forest” in South Sudan, Africa

Earlier this year, 2NE1 fans had donated a forest of mango trees to a village in South Sudan, Africa and tvN went to go see how it was doing.

Blackjacks from all around the world donated 1,210 mango trees to the village of Tonj through Tree Planet Korea’s ‘Star Forest Project‘. The mango tree doesn’t provide just food – it also provides cool shade for everyone in the heat of the African summer. The villagers were so thankful for 2NE1 and their fans that they were all holding up signs that read ‘Thank you 2NE1‘.

If you guys can remember, WeLoveDara/OhDara through your generous donations, was also able to participate in this project during 2NE1’s New Evolution Concert in Seoul. To those who want to view the project, click here!

Info: YG Building Interior Designs to be Featured on FashionN’s “Suite Room” – Dara and Lee Hi Caught Exercising at the Gym!

Oh wow, YG building is going to be featured once again! ^_^ And ack, take a look at this picture! If Lee Hi weren’t exercising next to them, I would think that this picture of Dara was taken in 2009, during debut time with her hairstyle and never-aging face! Right, right? ^_^

YG Entertainment building’s interior and wall decorations would be featured in FashionN’s “Suite Room” season 5 episode, to be broadcasted on May 25th, at midnight! The show will focus on YG Building’s special rooms and interiors, and during the shooting for the broadcast, they ran into Dara and Lee Hi (I think Mingkki is the one next to Dara though I am not entirely sure because they only mentioned Dara and Lee Hi in the article) while exercising in the gym. They took note of the different pictures, polaroids that adorned the gym.

Today, in celebration of 2NE1’s 4th anniversary, Korean Blackjacks gathered together to have some sort of sports day, a day of fun with each other and to get to know each other more. ^^ They were surprised when this was delivered, and it seemed that Dara or all of 2NE1 (the tweets are conflicting, so I don’t know T_T) sent them food! T_T Our girls are so sweet. T_T Whether it be that Dara ordered this by herself, or if all the members of 2NE1 did, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that the fans are important to the girls and that they are grateful for their support. Such sweet, sweet ladies, don’t you think? T_T And this is why 2NE1 will always have a place in my heart. TT

Want her look? Or the secret behind that porcelain smooth skin? Yahoo! SG got Dara talking about her beauty tips and must-haves in an e-mail interview about her recently appointed status as makeup brand Clio’s beauty ambassador.

Describe your sense of style?

I strive to stay true to myself. I’m actually a very shy person, but I love colourful and dramatic styles, and I am passionate about makeup. But even when I try on something really dramatic, I try to ‘balance’ it out so that it’s still stylish without being over the top.

Many Blackjacks adore 2NE1 for your fierce and distinctive makeup styles, hairstyles and fashion sense, can you give our readers some tips on how to turn these into everyday wearable looks?

My no.1 style rule is to strike a balance between what’s drastic and what’s moderate. For example, if you want a very avant-garde hairstyle, you should pair it with a more classic dress. And if you are going for loud or dramatic makeup, your hairstyle should be more moderate. It’s about considering the total balance in your getup. I always choose to emphasize on only one element of my look for the day.

What are some must-haves in your purse?

I always have my handphone, mirror and eyeliner in my purse. I am almost never without my eyeliner. I draw it on even when I don’t have a busy work schedule!

What is your favourite feature about yourself?

I used to think that I am the ‘cute’ type, but after joining 2NE1, my style has transformed so much that it’s now sometimes charismatic, sometimes chic, sometimes fun and sometimes funny! I really love being versatile and being able to transform my look so frequently.

In this campaign, you’re showcasing a sexy and feminine side. Can you describe what’s sexy to you?

Sexiness is the most extreme expression of a woman’s charm. What’s sexy to me in this Clio campaign is the intense burgundy colour in my eye makeup. It makes me feel powerful and feminine – so that’s sexy to me.

2NE1 does a lot of dancing and traveling, how do you keep your makeup fresh all day?

I feel that keeping your makeup fresh has a lot to do also with good skin. My beauty secret? A good night’s sleep – which never fails to give me a natural radiance and glow in the morning. If I can’t get enough beauty shuteye, my emergency beauty SOS is to put on a mask for instant moisturization and brightening. It preps my face and helps keep my makeup fresh.

Who is your music/dance inspiration?

Um Jeong Wha – who is really successful as a movie star and singer. I think she has a real passion for her job and is very professional. I feel that coming through whenever I watch her movies or listen to her songs.

Who is your all-time favourite style icon and why?

This is a really difficult question! I don’t have just one style icon because I don’t keep to just one style. One day, my look is cute and the next day, I have transformed myself into a sexy temptress. I think the whole idea is to keep changing my look – transforming myself is my big pleasure in life.

OhDara Special: Monthly Round-Up – Jumping into the Heat of Activities in April

YAY! The monthly round-up is here for April!

I know that it’s almost the middle of May (dodges pitchforks, swords, and various pointy objects thrown my way… dodges Primary Admin unnie’s bombs), no excuses are acceptable, I know, but work has been stressful (impending unemployment not withstanding), and so many things happened already! ^^ But anyways, the month of April has been a good one for 2NE1 and Blackjacks alike.

First, the girls solidified their position as Adidas‘s official endorsers, attending not one, but two Adidas-related activities in the month. Earlier in the month, on the 19th, 2NE1 attended the re-opening of the biggest Adidas showroom to date, the Myeongdong store. The group showed up in red and black Adidas tracksuits, as they posed for the gathered crowd, then posed with some of the Adidas shoes inside the store. Apparently, they also tried out the various sports equipment inside, as seen in the fan-taken photos of Dara running for a bit on their treadmill.

YG Entertainment has recently announced that the artist who is to make their comeback on May 28 will either be 2NE1 or CL. Now all eyes are on the two possibilities.

On May 13 at 2p.m., on its official blog, the Entertainment agency has posted a teaser image of the artist making a comeback on May 28. Fans were excited to see 2NE1 and CL’s names highlighted in the image.

Whether it be 2NE1 or CL, the public is happy with the news. Fans are patiently waiting for 2NE1 as they have not released any new songs for the last one year, after their digital single “I Love You” last year.

But if CL makes a comeback, that would be her first solo debut. This is exciting news for the fans. Bom and Dara were the only members who have also released their solos in 2NE1, and the fans have not yet seen CL, the leader, release her very own song.

2NE1 was the first Korean girl group to hold a world tour, and it was a huge success. Since their global concert, 2NE1 joined in on other artists’ concerts as a guest artist. Those occasional appearances quenched the thirst of their fans.

In April they were on stage with the global star Psy for his exclusive concert, and around the same time were also at G-Dragon’s concert for a remarkable performance. The most special was when the group performed with the American hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg on May 4 for a joint performance.

Whenever 2NE1 is on stage the venue fills with excitement and enthusiasm. This is no wonder that the fans have always been waiting for their comeback.

To console the waiting fans, 2NE1 had repeatedly told them that the group “will release a new album.” And they would always add, “Please stay tuned!”

Their words show that it will highly likely be 2NE1 making a comeback on 28. The hint is, if you add all the numbers in May (5) 28, 2013, it equals 21. It was a unique hint borne by the brains of YG Entertainment.

Apart from 2NE1 and CL, there are artists lined up to make a comeback from YG. Personnel from the Entertainment said, “starting from May 28 until the second half of this year, there will be scores of YG artist making comebacks. Along with our CEO Yang Hyun-suk, the artists and staff members are putting concerted effort into preparation.” Now the expectations of the fans will only go higher.

The cosmetics brand Regen Cosmetics recently polled 592 women in the 20 to 30 age demographic, “Which girl group member has an ‘innocently royal face’ with a sophisticated and noble look?“. Seohyun snagged the top spot receiving 51.3% of the vote. She was followed by Dara with 21.4%, third place went to Dasom with 13.1%, and Sunhwa was fourth with 12.6%.

After revealing the results of the poll, Regen Cosmetics said, “We were able to better understand the image that the public has of girl group members. Recently, skin that is clear and is lively is called the ‘innocently royal’ style. I think these girls like clear skin because it gives off a luxurious image.”

Sharon Aguilar wasn’t even going to audition.

But what the heck. She was in the right place at the right time, took a chance and landed a gig playing and touring worldwide with CeeLo Green during his Lady Killer album tour. As a student at Musicians Institute, Aguilar knew going to the Hollywood-based school would give her opportunities. She just didn’t realize they’d come so soon and mean so much.

Aguilar has experienced a second world tour with K-pop group 2NE1 and is still going strong. Focusing now on her projects at home in LA, Aguilar is excited about the launch of her new group, Miss President, made up of many of her touring mates, including DANiiVORY, Goldielox and B.Brooks.

I caught up with Aguilar as she returned to the US from Asia to shoot the breeze, talk guitar and get the scoop.

GUITAR WORLD: So, you’ve been doing a bit of traveling.

Yes, yes. Just got done with a six-month tour in Asia with the K-pop group 2NE1. That was a lot of fun. It was a part of the world I’ve never got to see before, so it was definitely a highlight to be able to play a lot of the venues out there and experience the culture.

Tell me about 2NE1.

I was playing with 2NE1 on their New Revolution Tour. It was a global tour, and we did a couple shows in the States too, at the Prudential Center and one at Nokia, which was sold out. It was a really cool show, will.i.am actually produced a lot of their tracks, and he came to the show and just started rapping over the encore and hanging out with us on stage, which was really cool.

But the 2NE1 girls, they’re a really big K-pop group. I felt bad because I really had no idea that there were other markets like that. I just felt like American entertainment was the be-all-end-all, and I feel ignorant for saying that. It just really opened my eyes to see what else is going on in the world, because K-pop is huge! These girls were selling out stadiums. It was just incredible. And they have very dedicated fans. It was a lot of fun.
