Meet the New K-Pop Star Making Waves on the Front Row

01-sandara-park1

Let’s get one thing straight: CL is not the only fashionable member of 2NE1. As bombastic as the K-pop star’s style is, her bandmates give her a run for her money when it comes to putting together cool, attention-grabbing looks, and the fashion world is starting to take notice. Case in point? This morning, Sandara “Dara” Park, the group’s resident multitasker, joined the front row at Fendi alongside such stars as Serena Williams and Ellie Goulding. As singer, model, host, actress, and Instagram sensation, Park is one of the most prominent celebrities in Korea. She has been able to make an impact on-screen and online with both her style and genre-defying career.

First appearing on the scene back in 2004 as a contestant on the popular reality competition show Star Circle Quest, Park’s talents earned her a fan base so big that producers gave her acting roles in movies and television—ones that were naturally hits. Park released hit singles in the Philippines years prior to 2NE1’s debut, thereby reversing the traditional girl-band narrative by becoming a household name before she joined a group. While Park’s distinctive pop vocals are a key component to her success, what truly has pushed her to the top is her personality. CL might have that baddest female title on lock, but Park’s effortless cool, willingness to be funny—her hilarious social updates are almost as famous as she is—and dedication to her fans has allowed her to seem like the pop idol next door.

Her vibe may be chill, but Park takes her fashion very seriously. It isn’t enough to just be cute; she consistently pulls together outfits that mix the best in insider labels. She has a soft spot for the streetwise aesthetic that has dominated the shows lately, but only its sweetest incarnations. She’s got the prerequisiteVetements hoodies, Off-White sweatshirts, and Saint Laurent bomber jackets, but they’re in pastel tones—plus she wears them with neon pink Timberlands. Difficult to find gems like 99%IS’s 10 Corso Como Seoul exclusive coat or Gosha Rubchinskiy’s sold-out beanies get mixed in with limited-edition Supreme or the latest heavyweight chain from Ambush. Even when she dolls up in a Thom Browne miniskirt or a lacy dress from Versus Versace, she’s one step ahead of the curve. On Instagram, where she frequently posts outfit updates for her millions of followers, she’s known for taking her share of risks. She thrilled her fans recently with the new strawberry blonde hairstyle she donned in Milan, where she stepped out for a touristy trip to the Duomo. With her prim appearance at Fendi in a striped dress from the Fall collection and matching Dotcom bag, it’s clear she has stepped into high fashion’s big leagues, and her presence is more than welcome. With even more hair colors, skate merch, and designer goods to try on and test out, it’s only a matter of time before Park is setting trends on the runway.

Sandara Park at Mid Valley for Moonshot

The best moments with the K-pop star from the event

Korean pop star and 2NE1 member Sandara Park, known by her fans as Dara, was at Mid Valley last night for a Moonshot launch event. Dara is the face of Moonshot makeup, along with G-Dragon (who sadly wasn’t there). The singers and the makeup brand are under the YG Entertainment Group.

Thousands of fans descended on the mall and surrounded the event enclosure, unleashing ear-piercing screams when she walked in. Oozing elegance and composure, Dara spoke flawless English answering questions from the media during the press conference. She gawked at the number of fans looking down from the upper levels and stayed after the media session to give lucky Sephora Black Card members a gift.

The media session consisted of an introduction to the new makeup Cushions – the Microfit Cushion identified as the GD Cushion, and the Moonflash Cushion named the Dara Cushion. Microfit is a beige, spongy-looking cushion that brightens skin with an anti-darkening formula, and Moonflash has a milky pink texture, luminising skin with a strobing effect and invisible pearls. Both go on super light and undetectable, the apparent secret to Dara’s ultra radiant, youthful-looking complexion.

daramoon-peace

Dara flashing a peace sign while posing for the cameras. She was super obliging and looked perfectly at ease.

daramoon-giggle

Here, Dara caught the giggles while answering a question about how she gets all the gunk off her face after big concerts and photo shoots.

daramoon-heart

Dara made a heart sign (!) to all the media who were busy snapping pics (us included). Isn’t she sweet?

daramoon-up

At one point fans on the upper levels started belting out her songs at top volume, prompting her to look up and smile at them. More screams followed.

daramoon-host

Before leaving, she snapped a photo with the night’s host Josiah Mizukami, flashing another peace sign.

daramoon-cam

She then fetched her mobile phone from her manager and snapped photos of us. The crowd surged forward In attempts to get in on her photo.

daramoon-kheart

Then it was really time for her to go, but not before she gave us those signature finger hearts, K-pop style.

daramoon-upbye

Dara then bade her fans farewell, which was greeted with much booing and ‘no’s’.

daramoon-bye

And for a final adieu, she bade us goodbye too. It was awesome to see her in person and get an up-close view of her flawless, glowing skin. Moonshot CEO Peter told us a G-Dragon fragrance will be launching mid-year, so we can only keep our fingers crossed they’ll be bringing him over too!

The Secret is Out! Sandara Park Joins #TeamPenshoppe
Read on as the Korean pop star answers our questions in Filipino!

interview

Last month, fans were thrilled to find out that Sandara Park was in Manila for a brief period – thanks to her Instagram account where the Korean pop star chronicled her activities. Little did they kow that she was here to to do a photo shoot with Penshoppe to join Mario Maurer, Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne and Sean O’Pry as the new face of the brand.

Style Bible visited her during the said photo shoot shot by Cliff Watts (He shot Cara’s and Sean’s Penshoppe campaigns, too, and flew in from New York for Sandara’s.) Wearing a knit vest, a white button-down with Peter Pan collar, skinny jeans, a fedora hat and a pair of oxfords, she gamely answered our questions – in fluent Filipino, by the way. Read on!

STYLE BIBLE: Tell me about your outfit today.

DARA PARK: This look is very Sandara Park – from head to toe. Lahat basic items lang in black and white. Meron pants kanina from the photo shoot na super gusto ko. It’s very hip, very Dara from 2NE1. (This look is very Sandara Park – from head to toe. All basic items in black and white. There are pants from the photoshoot earlier that I super like. It’s very hip, very Dara from 2NE1.)

SB: Do you have a uniform at the moment?

DP: Yes, meron! Usually, t-shirt and jeans, flats and a hat. Ito yung lagi kong sinusuot since two years ago. I have a lot of fedora hats. Ang dami ko din jeans. Favorite ko yung skinny jeans. And gusto ko ngayon yung rolled up jeans. (Yes, there is! Usually, t-shirt and jeans, flats and a hat. This is what I often wear, since two years ago. I have a lot of fedora hats. I also have a lot of jeans. Skinny jeans are my favorite. Now, I’m into rolled up jeans.)

SB: When it comes to dressing up, what’s your favorite season?

DP: Winter, definitely. Mas madaming choices. Pag summer you can only choose to wear one or two kasi mainit. Sa winter, pwede mag-layer. (Winter, definitely. There are more choices. During summer, you can only choose to wear one or two because it’s so hot. During winter, layering is possible)

SB: Is there any item in your closet that you couldn’t seem to let go of – even if it’s old and worn out already?

DP: Yung mga sneakers ko. Kahit di ko na sinusuot yung iba parang di ko kaya itapon. Madumi na pero nandyan pa din sila. I just like seeing them there. They’re like my babies. I have a room full of sneakers only, separate pa from the clothes. Every time I see something cute, I buy. I couldn’t stop myself. (My sneakers. Even if I don’t wear the others, I still don’t throw them out. Some are dirty already, but they’re still there. I just like seeing them there. They’re like my babies. I have a room full of sneakers only, separate from the clothes. Every time I see something cute, I buy. I couldn’t stop myself.)

SB: How about high heels?

DP: Actually, I don’t wear heels. Only pag may event. Sneakers ako palagi. All kinds of sneakers. (Actually, I don’t wear heels. Only if there are events. I swear sneakers all the time. All kinds of sneakers. )

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-4

SB: How big is your closet?

DP: Super big. I keep adding closets every year but kulang pa din. Pag wala ako magawa, I just shop. So somebody has to stop me! I love shopping! (Super big. I keep adding closets every year, but they’re still not enough. If I’m not doing anything, I just shop. So somebody has to stop me! I love shopping! )

SB: How do you organize your clothes?

DP: By style. Pero after a while, hindi na siya organized. (Laughs) Ang hirap mag-organize ng damit, lalo na pag ang dami-dami na. I keep adding and adding clothes. Yung iba binibigay ko sa friends ko but I usually keep my clothes for sentimental reasons. Madaming memories yon. (By style. But after a while, they aren’t organized anymore. (Laughs) It’s so hard to organize clothes, especially if there are so many already. I keep adding and adding clothes. I give some away to my friends, but I usually keep my clothes for sentimental reasons. So many memories.)

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-2-660x990

SB: You tour a lot, you travel a lot – what do you usually wear on the plane?

DP: Depends, pag malapit lang, pag one or two hours lang, I wear anything – kahit heels, skirt. Pero pag malayo, jogging pants. I prefer loose tops – parang boyfriend shirts. (Depends, if it’s just nearby, say one or two hours, I wear anything – even heels, skirt. But if it’s already far off, jogging pants. I prefer loose tops – like boyfriend shirts.)

SB: Are you a light packer?

DP: Hindi! (Laughs) Like this time, I brought three luggages – yung pinakamalaki na luggages. Kaya lagi ako may excess baggage. For example, if I travel for a week, yung dinadala ko for one month. So ang dami ko talagang dalang clothes, shoes, hats, sunglasses. I have my shampoo, body scrub, lotion, hair blower, hair iron – lahat. (No! (Laughs) Like this time, I brought three luggages – the biggest luggages. That’s why I always have excess baggage. For example, if I travel for a week, I bring enough for one month. So I really bring a lot of clothes, shoes, hats, sunglasses. I have my shampoo, body scrub, lotion, hair blower, hair iron – everything.)

SB: How many outfit changes do you do on a regular day?

DP: Usually, three. Depends on where I’m going. Like yesterday, I went to Greenbelt, eh mainit, so nagpalit ako. (Usually, three. Depends on where I’m going. Like yesterday, I went to Greenbelt and it was really hot, so I changed.)

sandara1

SB: Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction on stage?

DP: Many times. Pero di naman scandalous. Minsan yung shoes ko natatanggal kasi yung dance steps namin sobrang wild. Minsan natatanggal yung heels, but I just pretend nothing happened. I continue dancing. (Many times. But nothing scandalous. Sometimes, my shoes fly off because our dance steps were really wild. Sometimes, the heels fall off, but I just pretend nothing happened. I continue dancing.)

SB: What’s your fashion motto?

DP: Just be yourself and be confident.

Meet Penshoppe’s Newest Urban Rebel: Sandara Park

Known for its fresh take on casual wear, Penshoppe sizzles this season as they reveal their newest face: Sandara Park.

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-4

Starting out as a local favorite, the former teen star set the roof on fire as she returned to South Korea and debuted as one of the members of K-Pop group 2NE1 in 2009. But her music career wasn’t the only thing that rocketed. As the group takes a break to concentrate on their solo careers, Sandara has been seen starring on web dramas and modeling for editorials. Recently posing for publications like, DAZED Korea, W Korea, ELLE Korea, and Vogue Girl Korea, she also proves her great interest in fashion industry.

Recently spotted at the 2015 Fall/Winter Seoul Fashion Week with her brother Park Sang Hyun, Sandara stood out as she switched from casual to hip-hop ensembles in between the Munsoo Kwon and Beyond Closet shows, showing off her savvy fashion sense. Now, Sandara flashes her fresh and quirky style in her first Penshoppe campaign.

Catering to anyone, Urban Rebels consists of utilitarian and Japanese street art-inspired tees, pullovers, joggers, biker jeans, and neoprene skirts and pants. There couldn’t be anyone more fitting to embody their latest collection than the Asian Superstar herself.

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-3

As Sandara takes a quick break from her shoot for the campaign, we sat down with Penshoppe’s newest ambassador to have a quick chat:

With your music career with 2NE1 on hold, what have you been focusing on lately?

This year, I’ve been acting for a web drama. I’ve recently ventured into being an actress.

You’ve just landed a leading role for the Korean version of Begin Again. How have you been preparing for this? Do you feel any pressure about it?

Yeah, of course there’s pressure, but it’s the good kind of pressure that gets me excited. Actually, it’s not really a Korean version of Begin Again. The story revolves around music, but we have our own rendition of it. It’s different.

Going into fashion, your Instagram feed shows that you’ve been gracing the pages of fashion magazines, and just recently, Vogue Girl Korea. How do you feel about modeling for the editorials?

I love it ‘cause I didn’t really do that much shoots before, so I kinda got hungry for photo shoots. For Vogue Girl, we shot it in Hawaii and I enjoyed it so much. It showed a different side of Sandara Park. ‘Cause before I used to always have that hip-hop vibe, and for that editorial, I kinda went a bit dainty, just like a princess.

Is there anyone you look up to in the fashion industry?

Actually, it changes I can’t pick one. I just Google and see anyone who’s cool.

How would you describe your personal style?

Probably unique. I love something cute and unique that doesn’t follow any trend.

Who or what influences your personal style?

Before, it was my stylist. He’s really weird and unique in a good way, so he influenced me a lot.

Was it more on hip-hop or street wear?

Yes, it’s street wear. It’s like he found a new Sandara Park, and I was really happy and excited about it. The way I dress right now is all influenced by him.

What’s your go-to outfit? Like on your day-off wear?

I usually wear something casual like jeans, T-shirts, and sometimes a cap or a beanie.

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-1 (1)

So how do you feel about being the newest face of Penshoppe?

I’m so happy about it ‘cause I’ve always liked Penshoppe ever since I was in high school. I’ve always dreamt of seeing myself on a billboard in EDSA, so I was super excited.

What makes it a perfect fit for your lifestyle and personality?

It really fits my personality ‘cause they have different styles. It’s like everything I like is there.

Amidst your grueling schedule, do you still get time to relax?

Yeah, of course! When I’m in Korea and don’t have work, I’m always at home relaxing with my pets.

What do you do during your down time? So when you’re home, what do you get to do?

I usually watch Koreanovela.

Even the ones you’re in?

Yeah! Of course I watch myself. I’m actually waiting for my next drama.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

Before I used to dream about my future. I’ll be like this and that after 5 years, but now, I don’t know anymore. I’m just really excited about the future.

How do you want the world to know you as?

As Sandara Park, I want people to remember me as krung-krung. It has so many good meanings like crazy and weird but cute and unique, so I really love the word krung-krung. It’s my nickname in the Philippines. They call me the “Pambansang Krung-Krung ng Pilipinas,” and I like it when people call me that.

What are you looking forward to most in the next couple of months?

I’m gonna concentrate on my movie, it’s my first movie in Korea. I don’t know what the title is yet, they’re still thinking about it, but I’m gonna start shooting soon. So I’m excited yet nervous at the same time.

Is there still a side of Dara that the world has yet to have seen?

Maybe the Bitchy Dara. I wanna show that side of myself on a drama or movie.

Sandara Park is Penshoppe’s newest ambassador
THE K-POP SUPERSTAR AND FOREVER ‘PAMBANSANG KRUNG-KRUNG’ ON HER FASHION OBSESSIONS, HER FILIPINO FANS AND HER UNDYING LOVE FOR JOLLIBEE

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-3

It’s a Thursday afternoon in July at the headquarters of Golden ABC in Quezon City and, for most of its employees, it was business as usual.

But on the fifth floor, at Studio 1155 and the Gallery, a big secret: K-Pop superstar Sandara Park was shooting her first campaign for Penshoppe.

She posed effortlessly in front of the camera, rocking a hat and vest from an upcoming collection as 2NE1 songs blasted from speakers.

“She’s a very good mover, she has a beautiful face, she’s very charming. I think that she takes direction beautifully. She’s very energetic,” said photographer Cliff Watts, who also shot Cara Delevingne and Sean O’Pry for Penshoppe. Cliff flew in from New York for Sandara’s shoot.

After booking three supermodels in a row—Cara, Sean, Kendall Jenner—Penshoppe may surprise fans with its choice of new endorser. But it makes sense, given Penshoppe’s expansion to other Asian countries. The brand already has stores in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and Cambodia, and it will be opening two stores in Vietnam in October.

Global

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-4

We wanted to get someone who would complete our Asian Superstars pool. To join Mario Maurer, we picked Dara. She’s well loved by Filipinos but at the same time is very global. Her sense of style and fashion pretty much sealed the deal for us. As we go more regional, tapping the Asean countries, we feel that Dara is the ideal brand ambassador to help us reinforce our international vision,” said Jeff Bascon, Penshoppe’s brand director.

Asked why she said yes to becoming the new face of the brand, Dara said, “Because I love Penshoppe. Talagang sinusuot ko yung Penshoppe since high school days pa lang.(I love Penshoppe. I really wear Penshoppe clothes ever since my high school days.)

She recalls a red Penshoppe shirt that she couldn’t stop wearing. “I wore it so much. When I see my pictures from high school, ’Huh? Ito na naman suot ko?’ (Huh? I’m wearing this again?) It’s funny.

Long before Dara conquered the K-Pop world, she was the Philippines’ “Pambansang Krung-Krung,” the quirky, funny, pretty Korean girl who melted hearts with her tearful Star Circle Quest audition and charmed her way into show business. She bagged commercials, starred in TV shows, made movies and released songs like the then-inescapable “In or Out.”

As she sat in front of us after the shoot, wearing a cat beanie and a blue Penshoppe polo with another adorable cat peeking from its pocket, it’s easy to forget that this is Dara from the massively popular K-Pop group 2NE1, the ubiquitous presence in Korean fashion magazines, the actress who just finished two Korean web dramas (“Dr. Mo Clinic” and “We Broke Up”) and who is about to star in her first Korean film.
It’s easy to forget that this is a girl whose every move is chronicled by K-Pop websites and blogs devoted to her, whose adoring fans create YouTube videos as a tribute to her and her cuteness. It’s easy to forget all that when she begins waxing poetic about Jollibee, which she requested to have for lunch that day. “Always the same, spaghetti with chicken pero spicy chicken and dapat may Jolly Hotdog. That’s my favorite,” she said.

It’s easy to forget, too, when she insisted on speaking Tagalog during the interview, something she doesn’t get to do in Korea. According to her, “Nagte-text ako ng Tagalog but in Korea nobody can speak Tagalog so medyo nabubulol ako.” (I text in Tagalog, but in Korea, nobody can speak Tagalog, so I’m stuttering a bit now)

She may have moved back to her birth country, but the Philippines will always be her second home. “Ang dami kong memories. I miss this place,” she said. (I have so many memories. I miss this place.)

And Filipinos miss her too, welcoming her excitedly at each visit. “Hindi pa rin nila ako nakakalimutan,” (They still haven’t forgotten me) she said. Sandara hasn’t forgotten either; her Twitter handle is @krungy21 and her bio includes “Pambansang Krung-Krung ng Pilipinas.”

Dara may be a Korean superstar, but she will always be a Filipino darling.

Sandara-interview-2

What do you like about Penshoppe?

It really fits my personality, and gusto ko yung mga style nila, iba’t iba. Like yung mga sinuot ko ngayon, may hip-hop, may cute, girly clothes, meron ding sexy. I can show many sides of Sandara Park. (It really fits my personality, and I like their styles, so diverse. Like the outfits I wore today, there’s hip-hop, cute, girly, and sexy clothes. I can show many sides of Sandara Park)

How was the shoot?

It was super fun. Medyo mainit sa rooftop pero sobrang ganda ng mga pictures so hindi ako nahirapan. (It was super fun. It was a bit hot at the roofto[, but the pictures came out very prettily, so it wasn’t hard)

What did you think of the clothes?

I love them. Kinuha ko nga, eh. Sabi ko, “Can I have it?” (laughs) (I love them. In fact, I bought them. I said, ‘Can I have it?’)

So you’re bringing some back to Korea with you?

Yes!

Did you have favorite pieces from the shoot?

Yes, meron akong favorite pants na sinuot ko kanina. Talagang hinahanap ko yung ganung style pero wala akong nahanap. Then, nakita ko ngayon and size ko pa. Extra small. So sabi ko, this is mine. They’re black pants na parang skinny pero may chuva-chuva dito. (Yes, I have a pair of favorite pants that I wore earlier. I really looked for one with that style, but I couldn’t find any. Then, I saw it earlier and it was in my size too. Extra small. So I said to myself, this is mine. They’re black pants that are skinny-like but with some details)

Penshoppe-Urban-Rebels-Sandara-Park-1

How does it feel to be back in the Philippines again?

So good. Parang feel at home. Naho-homesick na naman ako eh, so yeah. (So good. Like, I feel at home. I felt homesick anyways, so yeah)

When you’re in Korea, what do you miss the most about the Philippines?

Marami, pero siguro yung food. So sometimes I go to Filipino restaurants in Seoul. Masarap naman, pero syempre mas masarap dito. (A lot, but maybe the food. So sometimes I go to Filipino restaurants in Seoul. They’re delicious, but of course, the taste is here is different, yummier.)

What do you normally eat there?

Sinigang. And sisig. Lechon. Yeah, I order a lot.

You ate Jollibee today. Is Jollibee something you miss also?

Yes. Ang sarap. Walang Jollibee sa Korea. And there’s something special about their spaghetti. (Yes. So yummy. There’s no Jollibee in Korea. And there’s something special about their spaghetti)

Do you ever watch your old videos from your time in the Philippines?

Of course. I love watching my old movies. Minsan nahihiya ako kasi eh… parang… ginawa ko yan? Sinabi ko yan? Pero it’s still a memory so I love watching my old movies. (Of course. I love watching my old movies. But sometimes, I get embarrassed…. like…. I did that? I said that? But it’s still good memories, so I love watching my old movies)

When was the last time you watched your Star Circle Quest audition?

Medyo matagal na siguro, mga one year. Pero meron pa ako sa iPad ko. Pero hindi maganda yung quality. (It’s been a while, maybe one year. But I have a video in my iPad. But the quality isn’t good)

Are you still in touch with your Filipino friends?

Yes. Of course, yeah. Super hi-tech na ngayon, so text.

Are you going to see them while you’re here?

Yes, actually na-meet ko na si Joross nung first day pa lang. And then I’m going to meet more friends.

What’s the best thing about being a K-Pop star?

Siguro being loved by all the fans all around the world and being able to travel to different places. Sobrang gandang experience.

2NE1 is on a break now…

Yeah, we’re all doing individual activities for now.

When will people get to see you guys as a group again?

Hindi ko masabi. We don’t plan things. Pero if we have a good song, sige, release na natin, next month na! Pero pag walang inspiration, pag walang good song, it can take one year, two years, katulad dati. I’m waiting for a good song and inspiration. (I can’t say. We don’t plan things. It’s like, if we have a good song, then next month, we’ll release it! But if there’s no inspiration, if there are no good songs, it can take one year, two years, like before. I’m waiting for a good song and inspiration)

Do you still get to hang out with them?

Yeah, of course. Pero si CL nasa LA ngayon so (feigns crying) nami-miss ko siya. (Yeah, of course. But CL is in LA right now so (feigns crying) I miss her)

What was it like working on those web dramas in Korea? Is it different from acting in the Philippines?

Pareho lang, kaya it helped a lot. Matagal nga akong hindi umarte pero naalala ko yung mga dati kong experiences dito so parang it was not hard. I had fun. Yung dalawang web drama na yun super different characters, yung isa sobrang umiiyak lagi pero yung isa super naughty kaya super fun. (It’s still the same, so it helped a lot. It’s been a long since I acted, but I remembered all the experience I had here, so it wasn’t too hard. I had fun. The two web dramas I made had super different characters, one cried a lot but the other one was super naughty, so it’s super fun)

Is it true you’re doing the Korean adaptation of “Begin Again”?

Yes, pero actually, it’s not the same story as “Begin Again.” We have our own story. Pero it’s related to music, that’s why siguro they say it’s the Korean version. But it’s not. (Yes, but actually, it’s not the same story as ‘Begin Again.’ We have our own story. But since it’s related to music, maybe that’s why they say it’s the Korean version. But it’s not)

Have you started working on it?

Not yet, but I’m going to start shooting very soon.

How do you juggle your love for music and acting?

Syempre I love doing both. Sa latest web drama ko, I sang the soundtrack of the drama. So I can do singing and acting at the same time. (Of course, I love doing both. In my latest web drama, I sang in the soundtrack. So I can do singing and acting at the same time.)

What else do you want to do?

Marami pa. Gusto ko rin maging DJ ng radyo and gusto ko rin ng hosting. I love playing instruments. Lately, I’ve been very much into drums, so they call me Darammer. Hindi drummer, Darammer. (A lot more. I also want to be a radio DJ and I also like hosting. I love playing instruments. Lately, I’ve been very much into drums, so they call me Darammer. Not drummer, but Darammer)

Would you be willing to do a movie in the Philippines again?

Of course, I would love to… Pumunta nga ako sa Star Cinema, nag-usap kami ni Tita Malou (Santos)… like this and like that… Kaya lang nahirapan kami sa schedule so… But I’m hoping someday makabalik ako and do a movie with many cute actors in the Philippines. (Of course, I would love to;.. I went to Star Cinema and I talked with Tita Malou… like this and like that… However, we had difficulty with the schedule… But I’m hoping someday makabalik ako and do a movie with many cute actors in the Philippines.)

If you were going to do a movie here, who would you want to work with?

Si Papa John Lloyd… Iba yung eyes niya pag-umarte siya. (Papa John Lloyd… His eyes are really different when he acts)

Everyone says you haven’t changed. How do you stay grounded despite the fame?

I don’t know, it’s just natural. I’m just the same Sandara and I don’t want to grow old and I don’t want to forget the memories… I don’t know, I don’t try to do anything, same lang, it’s normal.

Is fashion something you really enjoy? Describe your personal style.

Yes. Yan ang pinakagusto ko. I love something unique na hindi sinusuot ng iba. Gusto ko yung simple basic items na may cute details, parang ganito (looks at her cat shirt). (Yes. It’s something I like the most. I love something unique that others won’t even wear. But I also like simple, basic items with cute details. Like this (looks at her cat shirt))

What’s your current fashion obsession?

Skinny jeans na roll-up jeans and wearing sneakers or flats that are unique.

Is there anything you wouldn’t wear?

Sexy outfits like bikini. Hindi bagay sa akin… Hindi ako comfortable. (Sexy outfits, like bikinis. I’m not suited with it… I’m not comfortable)

Sa beach anong suot mo? (So what do you wear at the beach?)

Rash guards. Yun naman ang uso ngayon. Para wala ring sunburn. (Rash guards. It’s fashionable and trendy nowadays too. Also so there won’t be any sunburn)

What are five things you can’t live without?

Hmm. My family, friends, people around me, my lovely cats and siguro cellphone, kasi I can watch TV and do Internet with my cellphone. And food. And aircon! Kasi mainit. (Laughs) (Hmmm. My family, friends, people around me, my lovely cats, and maybe my cellphone, because I can watch TV and do internet with it. And food. And aircon! Because it’s so hot)

What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?

Actually, marami. Pero naalala ko, 10 years ago, nung bago pa ako dito, meron akong group of fans who followed me wherever I went. Parang nakikita ko yang van na yan…as in whole day, they were following me. And sa Tagaytay ako nagshu-shoot. Andyan din sila. Parang wow. It’s really unforgettable. (Actually, a lot. But I remember, ten years ago, when I was still new in the industry, I had a group of fans who followed me wherever I went. It was like, ‘I think I saw that van somewhere’… Like the whole day, they were following me. And I was shooting in Tagaytay. And they were there. It was like, wow. It’s really unforgettable.)

Did you get to meet them?

Yes. I know them. Close sila sa akin.

Friends mo na sila?

Yeah.

Do you have a message for your Filipino fans?

Yes. Maraming salamat sa inyo. Hanggang ngayon hindi niyo pa rin ako nakakalimutan kaya nandito ako ngayon with Penshoppe. Thank you. Salamat. And gusto ko bumalik ulit. Mahal ko kayo. Yun pa rin. Hindi ako nagbabago. (Yes. Thanks a lot to all of you. Until now, you still haven’t forgotten all about me, that’s why I’m here now with Penshoppe. Thank you. Thank you. And I want to come back again. I love you all. It’s the same. That will never change)

What else can fans expect from you?

The upcoming movie. And I don’t know yet pero (but) I really want to work hard.

OMGGGGGGGGGGG~ This certainly went beyond my expectations! Dara had three solo pics and one group pic with Cha Seung Won and Jung Hye Young!

Dara looked utterly, utterly gorgeous and sophisticated in the shoot! She looked very beautiful and pristine, but her expression screams “fierce!”

I think this pic is so so so “DARA!” She’s dressed in a very pretty and colorful Christian Dior F/W 2014 dress, paired with AMBUSH and BoonTheShop jewelry. But her expression is what I’d like to call the “Ssantokki” expression! So cute and fierce, and all uniquely Dara!❤

Doesn’t she just ooze charm and sex appeal?! Dangggg, her flawless skin and just a hint of her slim, porcelain legs..❤ And again, her eyes that pierces through your soul, even through the screen.❤

Dara is rocking a Gucci mint green python coat, with their silk dress with python collar, both from Gucci’s 2015 S/S collection. Her metallic silver leather sandals are also from Gucci, accessories from Suel Jewelry..❤

And why hello there, model Dara!❤ Love her pose, love the red lips, love the over-all mature theme of this picture~! It’s very nicely contrasted with its lights and shadows.. And of course, gorgeous lady Sandara Park is gorgeous!❤

Dara is wearing a Valentino Camukimo brocade dress! The dress is actually very pretty, so if you want to, you can look it up..😄 Her ring is from Suel jewelry and her bracelet from Stonehenge.. ^_^

Beautiful, powerful picture~! Dara is the only one seated in this pic with Cha Seung Won and Jung Hye Young. But somehow, my eyes are drawn to her (bias notwithstanding, kekeke!), maybe it’s because of her eye-catching red mini dress in the midst of CSW and JHJ’s black outfits? Or maybe, it’s Sandara Park, and she just doesn’t lose out visually, even amongst actors and actresses. XD

Dara is wearing another piece from Dolce&Gabbana F/W 2014, which is their Little Embroidered Animals Flared Dress.. Another bold piece, which would have carried away the wearer, but Dara owned the dress~! Her heavy-looking rose gold bracelet is also from Gucci, and her pretty feathered shoes is a Givenchy (2009 F/W Urania feather-embellished black stamped textured leather sandals).

Feature Article: Sandara Park Tops Survey for Idols that Suit the “All-Back Hairstyle” the Most

Sandara Park Tops Survey for Idols that Suit the “All-Back Hairstyle” the Most

2014082601002423300134281

T/N: “올백 머리” literally means, “all-back hairstyle,” it means, all the hair is combed back to show the face entirely.

2NE1’s Sandara Park was chosen as the girl group idol that suits the “all-back” hairstyle the most.

Recently, on the Dream Cosmetic Surgery homepage, the website’s visitors were asked to join in on a survey titled, “Girl Idol That Suits The All-Back Hairstyle The Most,” and it was revealed that Sandara Park topped the survey results, garnering 31.7% of the votes.

Other idols on the survey were f(x)’s Sulli, who was at second place with 29.2% of the votes, and Wonder Girls’ Sohee and Kara’s Goo Hara, who got 26.7% and 12.4% of the votes respectively.

The all-back hairstyle really shows a woman’s “real beauty” for many years. The hairstyle reveals the whole face, and many hairstyles that allude to this style has been made for women as well.

Sandara Park, who topped the survey, has made this hairstyle as one of her trademarks, as she has been wearing her hair back most of the time, since her debut, showing her rounded head and pretty features. This hairstyle in particular is quite hard to pull off well since one needs an oval-shaped face and round head shape (LOLOLOL! Guess I don’t pull this off “well” then, but I do my hair this way anyway, teehee!) for it to be shown neatly.

(T/N: Ommitted the tedious technical description of “oval faces” and “round heads” ^_^)
