Article: Billboard – “2NE1, Girls’ Generation, CNBLUE: Whose New Single Is Best?” ~ Vote for 2NE1!

2NE1, Girls’ Generation, CNBLUE: Whose New Single Is Best?

2ne1_cnblue_girlsgeneration_pollsplit

As three of K-pop’s biggest acts 2NE1, CNBLUE and Girls’ Generation have reached audiences worldwide and managed to rack up a slew of international accolades, many in just the last 12 months.

Each group has held concerts past on their home continent, with CNBLUE most recently bringing its Korean rock to New York City’s Best Buy Theatre in January. All boast appearances on multiple Billboard charts, as 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation may possibly break Billboard 200 K-pop chart records this week. Plus, 2NE1 brought its hip-hop-meets-EDM sound to will.i.am’s#willpower” album; CNBLUE continues to garner comparisons to Maroon 5 and Jason Mraz, and Girls’ Generation‘s sugary-sweet “I Got a Boy” video won the very-first video of the year award at the YouTube Music Awards over Justin Bieber, One Direction and Miley Cyrus.

The top-tier acts all dropped new singles within days of each other — but which is the standout K-pop release? Vote now in the poll below to show us why “Come Back Home,” “Can’t Stop” or “Mr.Mr.” is the hottest release of the moment:

BILLBOARD POLL: VOTE FOR 2NE1, BLACKJACKS!

The lead single off 2NE1‘s long-awaited “Crush” album, “Come Back Home” mashes up reggae and trap beats for a musical hybrid that also scales the girls’ emotional ranges: The quartet pleads a lover to “come back home” on the verse and chorus, but flips to seductive cooing when the beat drops. In less than 48 hours, the single’s CGI-heavy video has amassed 2.1 million views.

Take another listen to each new single from 2NE1, CNBLUE and Girls’ Generation, and vote for your favorite now!

[OSEN=Park Hyun Min] A girl group 2NE1’s regular 2nd album ‘CRUSH’ is going to be released in Korean lyrics in Japan on 19th.

2NE1 have been releasing the songs that they released in Japan by changing the lyrics into Japanese so far, but they decided to release this album in Korean lyrics.

In regards to this, the associate of an agency YG Entertainment said “Among the associates in Japan who listened to Korean album, the reactions towards the original song were good so we decided to release it the way it is” and conveyed.

Video: 2NE1 Reveal their “Crush” to Associated Press ~ “It’s a Big Turning Point for Us, as 2NE1”

Nice interview! ^^ Leadah CL-roo steps up during English interviews, and I like how she speaks for 2NE1 as a group. “We prepared for a very long time, so it’s definitely a big turning point for us, as 2NE1, and we have all kinds of song in there: we sing, rap, goes from hip-hop to electro to RnB to everything. If you just check it out, if you just hear it, listen to it, you’ll know it.” And yes CL, we really do love the album, even at first listen! ^_^ “I think it’s been two years since our last tour. We didn’t have our album out, but we still went on tour. And we’re all about having fun, and when we’re on tour we love to meet our fans from all around the world, because we stay in Korea most of the time, so that’s what we want to do.” Hooray for more countries to meet new fans! More countries please, YG! ❤ And how cute is Dara’s soft and sweet “I love you” in the end? ❤

[ENTERBIZ] YG HOLDS FIRST AUDITION IN GREATER CHINA: ENTERS THE MARKET IN FULL FORCE?

yg-audition-china

[스포츠조선 이정혁 기자] YG Entertainment is holding an audition in the Greater China Region for the very first time.

Starting from March 3, YG kicks off “2014 1st YG AUDITION in Greater China” in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan in search for talents who will lead the future of YG.

Application for the audition can be done on http://www.yg-audition.com. The applicants need to fill out the form following the instructions, and then submit it to the email address for each region. The audition is open in the category of “singer,” and anyone under the age of 18 who are talented in singing and dancing can apply.

After the application process, local auditions will be held in the order of Beijing on March 29, Shanghai on April 5, Hong Kong on April 12, and Taiwan in April 19. The selected candidates in each region will then be partaking in the final audition in South Korea.

YG has been known for producing individualistic artists like JINUSEAN, 1TYM, BIGBANG and 2NE1. As BIGBANG and 2NE1’s popularity became borderless, YG is getting endless emails about auditions from many aspiring foreigners who dream of becoming singers.

The enquiries come especially frequently from the Chinese-speaking region, as YG artists are becoming more and more popular in the region. YG is holding an audition in this part of the world, an area where many talents are, to find a gemstone that would become the next BIGBANG and 2NE1.

BIGBANG and 2NE1 left a message to encourage people, “We heard the land is vast and the population is big. There must be many who are talented in singing, dancing and rapping. Come for the YG audition now!

Personnel related to YG audition said, “As this is a global audition held in Greater China for the first time, we hope many talented people with dreams will actively take part.

MTV Buzzworthy: 2NE1 Take Down Dystopia, Get Animated In The ‘Come Back Home’ + ‘Happy’ Videos

2NE1 Take Down Dystopia, Get Animated In The ‘Come Back Home’ + ‘Happy’ Videos

2ne1-come-back-home-video

We’re obviously beyond thrilled that 2NE1 have come back home.

Congratulations, everyone! It appears as if we’ve survived the K-Pop-pocalypse. You know, how two of South Korea’s girl-group titans, 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation, both planned to release new music and videos in late-February/early-March? C’mon, do you even read the news??

Well, now that 2NE1 have seen GG’s “Mr.Mr.” wager and raised them two new videos for the Crush tracks “Come Back Home” and “Happy,” it appears as if the dust has settled for the time being, and we can finally breathe. Oh wait, except we can’t, because the clips have snatched our lungs, hearts, kidneys, and every other organ we need to function.

In the aptly titled “Come Back Home,” we see Minzy, Bom, CL, and Dara channeling a little bit of everything from the dystopian lit canon: “1984,” “Brave New World,” Beyoncé’s “Superpower” video, etc.

Much like the track itself, which switches from “Man Down” to “The Baddest Female” and back, the visual’s a total mindf*** — and we mean that in the best way possible, obvs.

2ne1-happy-video

“Happy” is like endorphins in music video form.

Happy,” meanwhile, goes straight for your pleasure centers, pairing 2NE1 with some adorably emotive animation. As the video progresses, the hand-drawn bells and whistles increase until you begin to question whether 2NE1 doesn’t actually live in a half-animated paradise 24/7. (They don’t, FYI. Actually, we’ll get back to you.)

These two offerings kind of encapsulate everything that 2NE1 does best: playing with hard and soft and fusing polished K-Pop production with unexpected genres from across the globe. Needless to say, we’re (still) crushing hard.

MTV Buzzworthy: Tove Lo, 2NE1, Christina Perri + More: 5 Must-Hear Pop Songs Of The Week

six_split

It’s Tuesday! Time for another round of “5 Must-Hear Pop Songs of the Week!”
This week’s roundup features some amazing Swede-pop, K-Pop kweens dominating the South Korean scene, and a Top 40 pop smash that never was, courtesy of a newly emancipated singer-songwriter with plenty still to offer.

2.) 2NE1, “Crush”

After their fellow K-Pop krew Girls’ Generation debuted their brand new EP, Mr.Mr., last week (NO FIGHTING, FANBASES), the fashion-forward, futuristic South Korean sensations known as 2NE1 have returned to do the same with Crush, their second studio album.

In usual form, the album’s a genre-twisting blur of electro-pop and R&B gems, kicking off with the wickedly fierce “Crush.” The searing electronic brag attack is a major comeback statement: “They love me ’cause I’m hot, they love me ’cause I’m cold/They love me ’cause I’m real, they love me ’cause I kill!” the “Come Back Home” singers confidently speak-sing above the nasty synth pulse and a big fat bass. Um, you want a piece of ‘em?
