2NE1 to Participate as Creative Directors for ‘1st Look’
Celebrating the first year anniversary of the entertainment and lifestyle magazine 1st Look, the 2NE1 members transformed from singers to creative directors for the spread.
To be released on July 19, 2NE1 took control and organized the concept for the group’s pictorial for the magazine’s special anniversary issue.
Each member took their individual style and used the influence from the group’s upcoming global tour New Evolution to focus on four specific categories of ‘Style,’ ‘Beauty,’ ‘Relationships’ and ‘Culture.’
Known as a creative and stylish group, 2NE1 is expected to showcase unique and elaborate photos in the upcoming issue of 1st Look.
The cover for this special issue was released through 1st Look on July 16.
2NE1’s project as creative directors will be revealed on July 19.

2NE1 To Lose Weight, Except Sandara Park Who Will Do The Opposite
With their song, “I Love You” sweeping the music industry by storm this mid-summer, girl group 2NE1 revealed that, “All the members, except Sandara Park, are on a diet,” they said.
Recently, 2NE1 met up with some members of the press and said, “Recently, we’ve been dieting these days in preparation of the world tour. But Sandara Park, who is underweight, needs to eat more,” they said. They revealed that instead of eating sweets, they’ve taken to drinking a lot of water instead. They added, “The company didn’t spefically tell us to lose weight. Instead, the members voluntarily went into a diet so that we could show more beautiful features for the fans,” furthermore, they said, “It’s a combination of dieting and exercising,” they revealed.
On the other hand, Sandara Park said, “I think I need to gain a bit more weight. But my mouth is too small and can’t take in a lot of food, so I don’t eat much. I bet you’d be surprised if you know my real weight,” she revealed with a smile.
2NE1‘s single, “I Love You,” which was released recently as their comeback single in Korea, has been received with an explosive response. 2NE1 is back, but instead of its usual way of screaming out that they′re the best and hot like fire, the group has stepped back a bit to get down on its knees.
Could it be? Could 2NE1 be getting all mushy and girly after surviving its rocky ‘puberty’?
Not really.
Just because 2NE1’s begging for love doesn’t mean it’s popped out the pink hearts and lace just yet.
The lyrics go full out with the begging, asking the man to ‘look back at me’ and ‘please be honest’, but they’re set in a tone that makes them sound like they’re actually demanding, instead of begging for, love.
The melody and the lyrics are so stereotypical and open, and as the vocals push and pull in a tantalizing way, they even sound sarcastic to some extent.
The corny narration at the beginning adds to the mood; who could be serious in putting something like that in a 2NE1 song?
The strong beat the song explodes into near the end forces their demands even more. It’s like they have the man standing confused in the middle while they jump around having fun, teasing him by singing out their ‘love’ with big grins on their faces.
The song does have its shortcomings, as Park Bom, who usually boasted a commanding weight with her unique vocals, doesn’t really stand out because her voice lacks the push and pull this song needs.
All in all, however, 2NE1’s past career makes this song more interesting than how it would’ve been if the song had been sung by another group.
So join 2NE1 as the girls-turned-women show you a new side to it, but don’t take them too seriously; the group is all about having fun, after all.
