[스포츠조선 이정혁 기자] YG Entertainment is holding an audition in the Greater China Region for the very first time.
Starting from March 3, YG kicks off “2014 1st YG AUDITION in Greater China” in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan in search for talents who will lead the future of YG.
Application for the audition can be done on http://www.yg-audition.com. The applicants need to fill out the form following the instructions, and then submit it to the email address for each region. The audition is open in the category of “singer,” and anyone under the age of 18 who are talented in singing and dancing can apply.
After the application process, local auditions will be held in the order of Beijing on March 29, Shanghai on April 5, Hong Kong on April 12, and Taiwan in April 19. The selected candidates in each region will then be partaking in the final audition in South Korea.
YG has been known for producing individualistic artists like JINUSEAN, 1TYM, BIGBANG and 2NE1. As BIGBANG and 2NE1’s popularity became borderless, YG is getting endless emails about auditions from many aspiring foreigners who dream of becoming singers.
The enquiries come especially frequently from the Chinese-speaking region, as YG artists are becoming more and more popular in the region. YG is holding an audition in this part of the world, an area where many talents are, to find a gemstone that would become the next BIGBANG and 2NE1.
BIGBANG and 2NE1 left a message to encourage people, “We heard the land is vast and the population is big. There must be many who are talented in singing, dancing and rapping. Come for the YG audition now!”

Despite promoting on all three major broadcast stations, it looks like YG artists will not be attending the MBC Gayo Daejejon.
On December 11, MBC stated “YG Entertainment artists will not be attending the 2013 MBC Gayo Daejejeon. As of now, we have no stages planned out for them.”
The same may go for 2013 KBS Music Festival, to be held on December 27. KBS requested YG artists to attend the music ceremony, but due to scheduling conflicts, YG Entertainment responded with an open-ended answer that it may be hard for the artists to attend, but the company is currently looking at its schedules.
So far, YG artists are only confirmed to appear at the 2013 SBS Gayo Awards, with the anticipated collaboration between 2NE1’s CL and Lee Hyori.
The SBS Gayo Awards will take place on December 29, while the 2013 MBC Gayo Daejejeon will be broadcast on December 31.

The ‘Gold Play’ award is given only to channels that own more than 1 million followers. As of today, PSY has more than 6 million while Bigbang and 2NE1 each has 2 million and 1.7 million. If all the channels that YG own are added up, there are 12 million followers, which is very extraordinary for other entertainments.
According to a survey organization, YG is the company that uses other types of SNS channels the most. Facebook is also actively used by the company. According to record, 1st to 5th celebrity that are most powerful on Facebook all belong to YG Entertainment.
G-Dragon especially is selected as most powerful K-POP star on Twitter and China’s biggest SNS Weibo. On the day he opened up an account on Weibo, G-Dragon drew nearly 300,000 followers in just one day.
