2NE1 Dara Has Killer Abs & YG Family Has Some Of The Best K-Pop Bodies

2NE1 made their comeback this weekend with their All or Nothing concerts in Seoul. One of the most circulated photos from the concert has become a shot that highlights the well-defined abdominal muscles of Dara.

2NE1 are stand outs from other female groups in K-Pop for having a public image of fitness. Even Park Bom, who is often the source of fan banter regarding her love of the highly caloric vegetable corn, can be seen displaying a toned and fit body. In an industry that emphasizes ant-waists as the standard for women, 2NE1 serve as role models for healthier life choices for their fans.

In the leading weeks to the All or Nothing concerts, Dara shared photos of the exercise training process to build stamina for the performances.

YG Entertainment‘s artists are often photographed in the gym by their trainer, Hwangssabu. Through his social media, Hwangssabu encourages fans of YG artists to exercise and to adhere to a proper diet.

Beyond 2NE1, Big Bang’s Seungri, Taeyang, and Daesung are frequently captured in the gym photos.
For their Alive comeback, the physiques of Big Bang were highlighted and often shown during the group’s stage performances.

The emphasis on fitness extends beyond the established artists to the trainees and dancers. WINNER and the trainees of Team B have already demonstrated their commitment to join the ranks of physically fit artists at YG.

While SM Entertainment may have some of the most athletically inclined artists, it is obvious that YG leads the industry in terms of overall fitness. As Dara and the other members of 2NE1 continue to transform into more fit individuals, they serve as inspiration for fans who wish to lead healthier lifestyles.

Article: FuseTV – “2NE1 Get Rebellious With “Come Back Home” & “Happy” Videos”

The K-pop girl group play rebels in a future world and saunter through Los Angeles in two must-see visuals

Fans waited nearly four years for a second full-length 2NE1 album, and the K-pop quartet are certainly making up for lost time. After dropping Crush last week, the girl group have unleashed two music videos for new single “Come Back Home” and album track “Happy.”

We already raved about “CBH” for its ambitious mashing of reggae and trap, and we’re happy to say the music video does not disappoint either. In the sci-fi-themed vid, the gals live in a futuristic world where anyone can escape harsh reality for a “virtual paradise” with a pair of special goggles.

While that all seems lovely, it takes a toll on member Dara and her love interest when he chooses to hang in the virtual world instead of with her. You know what that means: Time for 2NE1 to shake sh-t up. The video ends with the girls leading a stampede of fire- and bat-wielding rebels. Please tell us there will be a part two.

Another one of our fave tracks off Crush to get a video is the peppy-yet-melancholy “Happy.” The girls rock a slew of whacked-out-but-still-chic outfits while parading around Los Angeles. We can’t take our eyes off them, but you have to watch below if just for Dara’s ’90s-inspired slick baby hair.

Billboard revealed that 2NE1’s new LP has been selling big numbers Stateside—for a Korean release—and could make a splash on the charts. We’ll be eagerly keeping our fingers crossed (and rewatching these videos) until it’s official.

Article: 2NE1 Featured in Dazed Digital’s “K-pop’s Most Futuristic Videos” List

In homage to 2NE1′s latest kaleidoscopic dystopia, we count down the best Korean sci-fi obsessed visuals.

1067310

I’ve seen the future and it is perfectly choreographed. With great hair. And cheekbones you’d have to pray or pay for. It’s not only the sound that’s advanced in the production of South Korea’s pop but the visuals often dabble in mini-cinematic adventures of the futuristic kind. Yet in the same way the music plucks frenetically at a myriad of influences so do their video directors, gleefully mashing up traditional mythology, futurism and science fiction into their magnum opus.

2NE1 are queens of futuristic. One merely has to look at the trailer for their forthcoming All Or Nothing tour to see a comet sperm infiltrating Earth, and band members Dara as Jean Grey, Minzy as Luke Skywalker and Bom stuck in Von Trier’s Melancholia. But it began with their 2011 single “I Am the Best” which literally was the future. It changed the K-pop game, opening up doors for girls who didn’t fit the narrow mold of cute schoolgirl or sexy vixen. It hasn’t dated an inch in a genre that considers last week’s hair colour as “over” – and when you can out-future the future you know you’ve got it made.

In honour of 2NE1′s return with the wryly titled “Come Back Home”, we’re running through ten eye-popping music videos (MVs) with a penchant for super genetics, robots, dystopia, aliens and new world revolution. We want CGI you could injure yourself with, lighting powerful enough to spark three reasonably sized towns and enough fake snow and dust in front of a wind machine to choke a jet engine. It’s go big, go hard or teleport the hell out of here.

2NE1 – “Come Back Home”

With sun-drenched reggae pulled through the pop tunnel of broken hearts into sneering electronica, 2NE1 soundtrack a broken Blade Runner world rife with the mental deception of The Matrix. The neon otherworld the band swirl through is arresting but you can’t argue with the narrative. Your boyfriend wants to live in a sterile virtual paradise, trapped in a white outfit with octopus and grapes on tap? Not according to Dara. And not when there’s molotov cocktails, baseball bats and spraypaint on hand to bring it crashing down. Defiant and emotive, this powerful return smoke-bombs the uneasy online murmurings that 2NE1 are about unseated from their girl-group throne.

News: US Fuse TV Spotlights 2NE1 ~ “Cannot Help Loving Them”

US Fuse TV Spotlights 2NE1 ~ “Cannot Help Loving Them”

201402270812210410_1

[OSEN=Kim Gyeongju] US FUSE TV made headlines of 2NE1’s recently released regular 2nd album.

In last 27, FUSE TV generally introduced 2NE1’s second album ‘CRUSH’ and analyzed 2NE1’s 9 strengths.

FUSE TV introduced 2NE1 as “it has contributed to raise K-pop’s international status and had successfully completed its world tour as the first Korean girl group, and worked with Will.i.am, having 6.4 millions of facebook followers and 2.1 million You tube subscribers. The TV described its new album ‘CRUSH’, “Final master piece of new challenge and experiment”.

First reason why people have to love ‘CRUSH’ is ‘Returning to Their Roots’. Most listeners’ introduction to 2NE1 comes via the ferocious “I Am the Best,” arguably their signature tune. From the first notes of album opener “Crush,” it’s clear that the girls are back. While the quartet played around with reggae pop and acoustic ballads in past singles like “Falling in Love”, this feels like the statement 2NE1 needed to truly make a comeback.

The second reason is ‘Reggae/Trap Hybrid Lead Single “Come Back Home”.’ Crush’s lead single “Come Back Home” mashes two seemingly disparate genres and makes them into one smokin’ single. Starting with a bouncy beat, the girls croon about losing a lover, asking their baby to “come back home” until the single’s production flips into a heavy trap beat. The ambitious song should stand up well next to past 2NE1 singles.

The third reason is ‘We’re Getting Four Music Videos!!!’ and fourth is “Potential to Sell A Lot”. FUSE TV said, “As one of the top K-pop acts to make moves Stateside, Crush raced into the Top 10 of the iTunes Albums chart despite no American promo. Still, with four music videos already planned, the LP could be a steady-seller versus falling off the chart after one week.”

There are also others reasons: “2NE1 manage to convey heart-wrenching concepts without throwing their feel-good vibe out the window,” and “Both “Good to You” and “Baby I Miss You” prove that the quartet can deliver clean, crisp vocals on top of soothing piano beats. The latter boasts a synthy lounge vibe with a notable verse from CL, whose flow is right on point.” Also “Scream” actually ended up fiercer with this K-pop rendition. “Come Back Home (Unplugged Version)” puts a much-welcome spotlight.

Starting from March of 1 to 2, 2NE1 will firstly deliver its performance in second world tour ‘ALL OR NOTHING’ held in Olympic Park SK Olympic handball stadium.

FUSE TV’S FEATURE STORY: “REASONS TO LOVE 2NE1”

201402270812210410_1

[OSEN=김경주 기자] America’s FUSE TV extensively spotlighted 2NE1 and their recently unveiled 2nd full album.

FUSE TV introduced the new album CRUSH on Feb 27, under the title “9 reasons to love” the album.

It read, “K-pop girl group 2NE1 are one of the driving forces in K-pop’s international expansion. The quartet was the first Korean female group to stage a world tour, will.i.am snagged them for his #willpower LP, they have 6.4 million Facebook likes and 2.1 million YouTube subscribers.”

The first reason was “Returning to Their Roots.” It wrote, “Most listeners’ introduction to 2NE1 comes via the ferocious “I AM THE BEST,” arguably their signature tune. From the first notes of album opener “CRUSH,” it’s clear that the girls are back.”

The second reason was “Reggae/Trap Hybrid Lead Single ‘COME BACK HOME”: “CRUSH’s lead single “COME BACK HOME” mashes two seemingly disparate genres and makes them into one smokin’ single. The ambitious song should stand up well next to past 2NE1 singles.”

The third was “We’re Getting Four Music Videos!!!”, while the following was “Potential to Sell A Lot.” It wrote, “As one of the top K-pop acts to make moves Stateside, CRUSH raced into the Top 10 of the iTunes Albums chart despite no American promo. Plus “COME BACK HOME,” “CRUSH” and “MTBD” are all climbing up the iTunes Pop Songs chart… Still, with four music videos already planned, the LP could be a steady-seller versus falling off the chart after one week.”

The following reasons were: “Tug at Your Heartstrings, But Throw Your Hands Up,” “Hello R&B!” “CL the Soloist Truly Arrives on ‘MTBD’,” “SCREAM” in Korean “COME BACK HOME (Unplugged Version)” to Close the Album.”

On March 1 and 2, 2NE1 will be performing the new songs for the first time as part of their 2nd World Tour “ALL OR NOTHING” at Seoul Olympic Park SK Handball Arena.

SBS TV Wed-Thu drama ‘My Love from the Star’ came to a close last night (February 28th) with episode 21, with 2NE1’s Sandara Park making a cameo in it.

Sandara appeared for her cameo on the red carpet, as she wore a black hat and evening gown while walking down from her vehicle, and smiling sweetly for the cameras. She was followed by Yoo Se Mi (Yoo In Na) who walked the red carpet with another cameo from singer Kim Won Jun. The highlight fell on Cheon Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) who dazzled with her sexy white evening gown. Sandara’s cameo drew much attention, and she had previously said that she was a huge fan of the drama.

‘My Love from the Star’ was a little short from being a perfect happy ending, but still brought viewers much moving moments, as it ended on a fantasy-like note. Although Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) was unable to remain on Earth permanently, he was able to find a way to teleport himself to and fro from his home planet, and remain by Cheon Song Yi’s side.

Cheon Song Yi said in the epilogue, “Won’t I be sad because he would suddenly leave with any warning? Of course I will. But this also makes me love him even more, because I would be reminded that the sight of him before me could be the last time that I see him. So this moment becomes extra precious to me than any other time,” as she expresses his love for Do Min Joon.

Article/Feature: Editor’s Pick – “2NE1 Unveil New Smooth R&B Sound On ‘Crush’ With The CL-Composed ‘Baby I Miss You'”

2NE1 Unveil New Smooth R&B Sound On ‘Crush’ With The CL-Composed ‘Baby I Miss You’

Bhak-UXCQAAmAQX

For anyone familiar with the music of 2NE1, the words “mellow” or “smooth jam” aren’t usually the first words you think of.

That’s not to say they don’t have slow songs. The four-member girl group may have more ballads then they have dance singles.

But 2NE1 didn’t build their international army of devoted fan with slow jams.

They did with their fire, their flare for the dramatic and their impressive vocal ability.

Much like how Mariah Carey did her most listenable music at the end of the 1990s Jay-Z collaboration “Heartbreaker” after she had sung every pitch the human voice was capable of, 2NE1 seems to have crossed over into a new sonic zone.

And the slow jam suits them.

And though there are plenty of the group’s trademark fireworks on “Crush,” the group’s second full-length album, released on Thursday, (including those in the album’s title-track) the standout song would have to be the mellow but not melodramatic “Baby I Miss You.”

The song has a strong beat that will doubtlessly make heads bop, but there is something more underneath it.

With a somber retro keyboard sound that manages to have shades of 1970s groovy instrumentals by artists like Bob James along with the sound of 1990s R&B dance ballads like “Creep” by TLC, there is an understated emotion in “Baby I Miss You” that is quite powerful.

Like any great dish, music is all about the ingredients and 2NE1 and producer Teddy Park use some excellently selected grooves and styles to create something quite new and exciting for the group.

A lot of the credit should go to the group’s frontwoman CL, who stepped up and wrote three songs for “Crush.”

And considering Teddy claims CL has at least another 17 songs already waiting, this is a very promising new direction for 2NE1.

It’s been six years since the group debuted in a cellphone commercial with Big Bang. But one gets the feeling they are just getting started.
