News: 2NE1 and Sagging Snail Hit Melon’s Roof Simultaneously; “I Love You” Hits the Roof for the 8th Time

Hitting the roof on one of Korea’s most popular music sites, MelOn, is no easy task, unless you’re 2NE1 and Sagging Snail!

2NE1 has hit the roof on MelOn’s real time charts multiple times since the release of their latest single, “I Love You“, displaying the immense popularity of the song as well as the group’s wide appeal.

What’s special about the latest real time chart is that not just one, but two groups have hit the roof simultaneously! This is something that hardly ever happens, especially at the same time. To determine real time chart positions, MelOn takes into account streaming (40%) and downloads (60%) every hour. Thus, not only does it depend on mass streaming, it also depends on how many are willing to purchase the song.

For MelOn’s real time chart at 8AM and 9AM KST, Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Juk (Sagging Snail) have claimed first place by hitting the roof alongside 2NE1 with their newest track, “Punk in the Corner“. Although Sagging Snail was currently in the lead at 8AM, 2NE1 has taken back the #1 spot at 9AM, leaving the competition neck and neck between one of the nation’s top girl groups and the nation’s favorite MC.

Congratulations to both!

As of 11:00AM KST, 2NE1 is holding on to their #1 spot because its their home sweet home.

News: “It’s Painful for Me to Look at 2NE1″ – Yang Hyun Suk

The tough president of YG EntertainmentYang Hyun Suk, expressed his surprising feelings about 2NE1’s recent comeback. He revealed that he was bothered by the fact that he was not able to give his full attention to the ladies’ return.

During the interview he explained to OSEN, “Lately, whenever I see 2NE1, it hurts me. Normally when company artists are set to make a comeback, even for the few months prior to their return I will spend night and day, eating with them, and taking care of them. Although, this time was different as I failed to provide that for 2NE1.”

Yang Hyun Suk had a very busy start to the calendar year due to his involvement as a judge of SBS’ audition program, “K-Pop Star.” 2NE1 had to compete with their label-mates overlapping schedules so there was less time to focus on their comeback.

“2NE1 is finally making their comeback after a long wait in July, during this time many other singers are also making their comebacks. Because of this literal, ‘comeback boom’ I should have spent more time with 2NE1 and I feel deeply sorry about it. So during the last week I have canceled everything in my schedule so all of my focus would be on 2NE1 at all times with their choreography, songs, and whatever else they needed,” he said.

Yang Hyun Suk continued, “To the members of 2NE1 who are like my own daughters, at this time I feel both remorse and gratitude. Because I was unable to pay the respect and attention to you as I would have liked, it is my intention to focus on 2NE1 wholeheartedly until the end of 2012.”

Not only does 2NE1 come to Yang Hyun Suk’s mind but also their fans who have stuck with the ladies. All the support the fans have for them he has not forgotten that. So, to the fans he promised, “Also to the fans, I am terribly sorry as well. The only way I can repay you, is by working harder for 2NE1.”

Recently, it had been announced that Yang Hyun Suk had accepted the role to be a judge on the second season of “K-Pop Star.” He will participate as a judge in the second half of this year on “K-Pop Star 2.” Discussions for the upcoming season of the show along with a few company issues have kept the CEO insanely busy.

“I have been much too busy, I have not been able to even rest due to work at the office. Yet, when I was with 2NE1, I did my best not to seem tired. I did not want to give 2NE1 any added trouble by worrying them. The past week I spent with 2NE1 was rewarding, all the time spent working on the comeback was well worth it,” his comments revealed his feelings for 2NE1, along with his increasing expectations for their comeback.

On July 28 and 29, they will kick off their “New Evolution” tour in Seoul at the Seoul Gymnastics Stadium before heading taking the tour internationally. The group is expected to perform for fans in ten cities throughout seven countries including Asia, the Americas, and Europe.

News: 2NE1 Takes Over with an All-Kill for ‘I Love You’

2NE1 is back, along with its staggering presence.

2NE1’s I Love You, which was released on July 5, entered all charts, including those on Melon, Mnet, Dosirak, Bugs, Soribada and Cyworld, from the top and has stayed there since.

The song is also garnering interest overseas. It managed to rise as high as No. 2 on the Electronic Song Chart for iTunes U.S.

I Love You combines electronic and trot to come up with a completely new genre.

That 2NE1, the stylish trend setters, would try out trot came as unexpected to many of the group’s fans, but I Love You incorporates a trot melody on an electronic beat so well that it feels new yet still has the characteristic 2NE1 style in it at the same time.

2NE1 has always tried out a variety of genres, such as electronic, reggae, R&B and ballads, and mixed them with hip-hop; this time again the group showed it aims to take over with even more experimental music.

The group’s performance of the single is also much anticipated. The teaser images of the members previously released showed the members as feminine and sexy women rather than the powerful girls they had always been.

The awaited first performance of I Love You will be revealed through the July 8 broadcast of SBS’ Inkigayo.

2NE1 will then set off to tour 10 cities in seven countries with its global tour New Evolution, starting with the Seoul concert to be held from July 28-29.

News: 2NE1’s Planned Appearance on ‘Running Man’ Falls Through

Sobs, why? T_T It would have been great to see the girls on the show. Imagine the girls running as fast as they can, that would have been a sight to see! T_T But oh well, let’s just think of it this way, no variety shows means the girls could have more rest on this comeback and before their world tour starts. (Though, I’d still want to see the girls on this show one day!)

Anyway, fighting to the girls! ^_^

2NE1’s Planned Appearance on ‘Running Man’ Falls Through

2NE1’s planned appearance on SBS’s Running Man has fallen through.

Despite initial negotiations and discussions to have the 2NE1 members appear on an upcoming episode of SBS’ Running Man, the group has ultimately decided to turn down the invitation to appear on the popular variety program.

In between kicking off promotions for 2NE1’s upcoming new single I Love You and preparing for its upcoming world tour, it was decided fitting in time for television variety programs would prove too much.

In addition, a YG Entertainment representative added, “The 2NE1 members are rather shy and don’t fit well with variety programs. They would like to avoid appearing on a good show and end up inconveniencing the program.”

In addition, sources from YG Entertainment shared it is likely the 2NE1 members would not be appearing on variety programs for this upcoming round of promotions due to their busy schedules and discomfort the members feel on variety programs.

On a previous episode of Mnet′s 2NE1 TV, the members expressed their nervousness for a recording for SBS’ Strong Heart the next day and could be seen practicing their topics late into the night.

2NE1 will release its new track I Love You on July 5 and hold its comeback stage on July 8 on SBS’ Inkigayo.

2NE1 will also kick off its world tour New Evolution on July 28 and 29 at Seoul’s Gymnastics Stadium.

News: YG – “2NE1 will always consist of CL, Dara, Bom and Minzy”

This has caused quite a controversy not just in the international Blackjack community but in Korea well. What do you guys think about YG releasing a video of “Future 2NE1” and his statement after?

YG Releases Footage of the “Future 2NE1”

YG Entertainment uploaded practice room footage of four trainees to the YG YouTube channelyesterday. YG is normally pretty tight-lipped about upcoming acts, so the footage attracted a lot of attention. However, what really stirred up interest was the video’s title, Future 2NE1 (4 Years Later).

Not all publicity is good publicity. So far the trainee footage received mixed reactions from the general public. Many netizens praised the girls’ obvious dancing and singing talent, but others were concerned about the provocative nature of the choreography, considering that all four girls are under fourteen.

2NE1 fans have specifically expressed neutral to negative reactions to the video. Some even speculated whether the trainees were meant to replace the members of the senior group; Not a completely wild accusation if you take the video’s title into account.

YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk addressed the rumor directly through Naver News,  saying that the video “was called future 2NE1 because they are working hard to be a great girl group like their 2NE1 unnies. 2NE1 will always consist of CL, Dara, Bom and Minzy. There will be no member changes, so fans should not misunderstand or worry.” (via Naver)
