[OSEN=Lee Hye-rin] Popular girl group 2NE1‘s music video for their new song “Falling in Love” has made it to numer one in China’s music video site Yinyuetai.
2NE1 recently took the top spot in the site, getting a green light for their future activities in China.
YG is currently taking strides to enter China. It will establish a Chinese branch within the year, and on July 24 it opened its official channel in Youku, the largest video site in the great China region with the aim of beginning hallyu marketing with Samsung Electronics.
On July 24 at 3 p.m. (local time), CEO Yang Min-suk held an agreement ceremony in Beijing’s Conrad Hotel with Youku Tudou’s Chief Content Officer Xiangyang Zhu and China’s Samsung Electronics Marketing Director Park Jung-jun, agreeing to establish the “YG Family Channel” in the Youku Tudou site.
YG plans to exclusively provide premium contents to the great China region through Youku including music videos of label artists such as Big Bang, 2NE1, PSY, etc. as well as interviews, making-of videos, Big Bang world tour documentaries and more.
“Falling in Love” is a reggae song written by Teddy that showcases 2NE1‘s cute and feminine charms as opposed to their usual fierce, charismatic side. The song was also chosen as the “Song of the Summer” by MTV online on July 22.

On July 25, Sandara Park posted a comment on her Twitter account, “Double Park ! We haven’t decided a place yet. We will go anywhere we would like. Anywhere we feel right! Where is a crowded area near Hapjeong, Double Park’s home ground?”

[OSEN= Park Jeong-seun] YG Entertainment artists including Psy, BIGBANG and 2NE1 were nominated for the 2013 World Music Awards.
The 2013 World Music Awards recently announced its nominees and the list included not only YG’s biggest world star Psy but also BIGBANG, 2NE1 and Lee Hi in various categories.
Psy was nominated for two awards, “World’s Best Live Act“ and “World’s Best Song.” The “World’s Best Live Act” nominees also included G-Dragon and 2NE1. They will be competing with Adele, Avril Lavigne and Bruno Mars.
In the case of G-Dragon, he was again in the nominees’ roster as part of BIGBANG. Both BIGBANG and 2NE1 were nominated for the “World’s Best Group” and will compete fair and square with each other for the honor. Other nominees included world names such as Bon Jovi, Daftpunk and Coldplay.
YG’s youngest member Lee Hi was also nominated for “World’s Best Song” alongside Linkin Park and Taylor Swift.
The YG artists’ taking over of the world is getting even bigger on the back of the general K-pop global boom, Psy’s borderless success and the growing popularity of BIGBANG and 2NE1 beyond Asia as well as the potential newcomer Lee Hi.
