“This time, it is about identity”

Shin Yeon-shick, who has recently been in the news for the low-budget independent films The Russian Novel and Rough Play (co-produced by KIM Ki-duk) is set to meet audiences again this spring as part of the Jeonju Digital Project 2014, funded by the Jeonju International Film Festival. The title of his feature, The Aviamkind, comes from one of the fictional novels in The Russian Novel, which features an actor playing several roles.
– Your film is low-budget but the actors are young and glamorous. How did you get them on board?
Well, the main character is actually not that young (laughs). KIM Jeong-seok, who played in The Russian Novel and Rough Play, plays the main role of a novelist in this film who is looking for his missing wife. KIM has been working with me for a long time and I promised to have him play a main role one day. That promise finally came true with this film. Kang Shin-hyo, who was the main character in The Russian Novel and played the manager in Rough Play, took a supporting role this time. I deeply appreciate the actors who helped me out in times of difficulty, and I want to keep every promise if I can. So I have a long list of movies to make (laughs). Others are mostly rookies and my students.
By chance I started teaching acting, and I became kind of famous, as some of my students are K-pop stars. I’ll tell you something funny. Who do you think is the most passionate actor among my students? It is none other than Sandara Park from 2NE1. She calls me day and night whenever she has any questions about acting. She discusses with me over the phone about her characters and their feelings whenever she is stuck. Lee Joon from Rough Play is also very hard working, but not as much as Sandara (laughs). I have to make a movie one day with Sandara in the main role. (laughs)

[OSEN=권지영 기자] The Japan Tour of 2014 YG FAMILY Concert kicked off in great success.
On April 12, the 2014 YG FAMILY CONCERT held in Japan’s Osaka Kyocera Dome ended in huge success, joined by 50,000 fans. The concert showcased YG artists including BIGBANG, 2NE1, EPIK HIGH, LEEHI, WINNER and WIN’s TEAM B.
2NE1 opened the concert with their dynamic “CRUSH.” It was followed by their debut song “FIRE” and then the title song of the 2nd full album “COME BACK HOME,” and moved on to sing “GOTTA BE YOU.”
The baton was then handed to the newbie group WINNER. They performed the Japanese version of “GO UP” and their own version of 2NE1’s “MISSING YOU,” firing up the fans.
EPIK HIGH, who was next on stage, left a powerful impression on the local fans by singing “FLY,” “LOVE LOVE LOVE,” and “DON’T HATE ME.”
When BIGBANG appeared on stage, the concert hall was filled with gold color. The members who were joined by 770,000 fans at their Japan’s 6 largest Dome Tour from last year to early this year, looked experienced in communicating with the local fans. They showcased their hit songs like “HARU HARU,” “BLUE,” and “FANTASTIC BABY.”
Performing in Japan for the first time, LEEHI caught the attention of the fans by “ROSE” and “1,2,3,4”.
But the highlight of the concert was the collaboration performances of YG artists. Each work was unique, more than enough to leave the audience in awe.
WINNER and WIN’s TEAM B performed “JUST ANOTHER BOY” together, which was the final mission of the survival program WHO IS NEXT: WIN. G-DRAGON and CL performed “THE BADDEST MALE” and “MTBD” while BIGBANG’s T.O.P, WINNER’s SONG MIN HO and 2NE1’s DARA fired up the stage with a collaborated “DOOM DADA.”
The concert that showcased 40 songs in total gave a dynamic finale with YG’s biggest hit songs including PSY’s “GANGNAM STYLE,” 2NE1’s “GO AWAY” and BIGBANG’s “FANTASTIC BABY.”
The “2014 YG FAMILY CONCERT” will be held again on April 13 at Osaka Kyocera Dome, and will be followed by Tokyo Dome on May 3 and 4. It will expand to Korea, China and other Asian regions, and the concert venues will be announced soon.

[엑스포츠뉴스=한인구 기자] 2NE1’s World Tour “ALL OR NOTHING” held in Shanghai China ended in great success.
The concert held on April 11 at Shanghai Grand Stage kicked off dynamically with their 2nd album “CRUSH.” Dressed in powerful gold uniforms, the quartet mesmerized the fans with their charisma.
While the divas fired up the fans with powerful performances of “CLAP YOUR HANDS” and “PRETTY BOY,” they also mellowed the concert hall with their sentimental songs “MISSING YOU,” “IF I WERE YOU,” and the unplugged version of “COME BACK HOME.” Fans were deeply impressed by their songs and performances.
This is the first time 2NE1 was in China for their exclusive concert. Chinese fans enthusiastically welcomed the divas and sang along all 18 songs including the 2nd album tracks “COME BACK HOME,” “GOTTA BE YOU,” and “SCREAM,” as well as with songs like “I AM THE BEST” and “I DON’T CARE” from other albums.
Deeply moved by the enthusiasm from the local fans, 2NE1 devoted their energy into the very last curtain call performance, ending the 2-hour long concert in huge success.
At this concert, YG’s first boy group in 8 years WINNER performed “GO UP” and “JUST ANOTHER BOY” as guests, leaving quite an impression on the Chinese fans.
2NE1 is to move on to Osaka Japan immediately after the China concert, staying in Japan from April 12 to 13 for “2014 YG FAMILY CONCERT” at Kyocera Dome.
