Groups Big Bang and 2NE1 took the ‘Artists of the Year Award’.
‘The 1st Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards’ took place at 7pm on February 22nd (time in Korea) at the Blue Square Samsung Card Hall.
Big Bang became the ‘Artists of the Year’ taking the #1 spot for the April of 2011 with ‘Love Song’. Big Bang were not able to attend the Awards ceremony due to schedule issues so a representative of YG Entertainment received the award on their behalf.
Labelmate 2NE1 were also named the ‘Artists of the Year’ with the #1 spot for the May of 2011 with ‘Lonely’.
‘The Artists of the Year Award’ is given to an artist(s) for each month and then again for each quarter for a total of 16 possible awards in the year with possible overlaps.
On/Offline Entertainment Media Star News and Gaon Chart co-sponsored ‘The 1st Gaon Chart K-pop Awards’ and objectivity and fairness was the top priority. The award winners were determined based on Gaon’s aggregate data (digital music, album sales).
‘The 1st Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards’ gave recognition to not only the artists but the production companies, music distributors, online service providers, composers, lyricists, choreographers, stylists and others who work in the music industry.
‘The 1st Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards’ was broadcast live on KBS N Drama/Joy. It is scheduled to broadcast in Japan as well.

SHINee’s Minho and 2NE1’s Sandara Park‘s exciting kiss scene has been revealed to the public, and is becoming a hot topic!
On the 21st, Etude House revealed some eye-catching behind-the-scene cuts of SHINee and Sandara Park’s web drama, “Kiss Note,” on its official YouTube channel. As earlier revealed, 2NE1 will be releasing a single and a Japanese “Best” album on the same day, at the end of March. More information surrounding the contents of these releases was revealed earlier this month.
The single, which is set to be revealed in three different versions, features two tracks. It’s title track was revealed to be named “SCREAM”, while a second title has yet to be added to the list and remains unnamed for now. The CD Only version includes a remix of the title track, while the first DVD version includes the music video for “SCREAM”, the making of and footage of “2NE1 VACATION”; the second will have a “2NE1 TV SEASON3 HIGHLIGHT”
The full album “COLLECTION”, on the other hand, will be available in four different versions. All of them include the main tracklist of 10 songs, with an original Japanese track added, “SCREAM”. Apart from the CD Only and the CD+DVD version, the CD+2DVD version comes with an additional photobook and will have Japanese MVs for “SCREAM”, “I AM THE BEST”, “UGLY”, “HATE YOU”, “LONELY” and “GO AWAY” on the first DVD. The second DVD consists of original Korean music videos for “FIRE (SPACE)”, “FIRE (STREET)”, “I DON’T CARE”, “FOLLOW ME”, “CLAP YOUR HANDS”, “IT HURTS”, and the English version of “CAN’T NOBODY”. The 4th version of the album comes with an additional handtowel and small bag. This version is only set for a release through HMV.
“LOVE IS OUCH”, was also revealed to have been chosen as a CM track for “CanCam”. At the same time, a DVD release by the name of “2NE1 1st Japan Tour ‘NOLZA in Japan'” will be revealed on February 29th.
