2NE1’s New Song Tops TV Music Chart Show for the First Time: M Countdown Cancelled the Show Due to Schedule

[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] 2NE1, a girl group made up of 4 members (CL, DARA, BOM and MINZY), ranked the top for the first time on a TV music chart show with its new song “FALLING IN LOVE”.

On July 18, 2NE1 became the winner of the music chart show “M Count Down”. The show airs live every Thursday afternoon but the July 18 show was cancelled because of Mnet’s “20’s Choice” awards ceremony.

But when Lee Soo Hyuk and Hong Jong Hyun were on the stage during the ceremony, they said that the audience would soon be able to meet M Count Down’s July 18 show’s winner. As soon as they said it, CL, the leader of 2NE1, showed up on the stage and sang “THE BADDEST FEMALE”, which was released in June as a solo. Right after her performance, rest of the 2NE1 members joined her on the stage and sang FALLING IN LOVE with the winner’s trophy on their hands because FALLING IN LOVE was the M Count Down’s winner of the day.

Right after its release on July 8, the reggae style dance music has been sweeping No.1 on many music charts both at home and abroad but this was the first time to be at the top on a major TV broadcaster’s music chart show.

Meanwhile, CL was also awarded 20’s Choice Style award at the ceremony, which was held in Ilsan KINTEX, Gyeonggi from 7 p.m.
