Hahaha, yes Dara your voice was really clear and beautiful and awesome in this album! ❤ Well, I love your voice from the get-go, and I love how you continue to improve in leaps and bounds.. But I can just imagine CL coaching her and telling her, “UNNIE! THINK OF YOUNG GUYS!” Ahaha! Dara’s ideal type is “tough, younger guy” right? XD

2NE1’s Second Album “Crush” Sweeps Music Charts and Achieves All-Kill

2NE1 is sweeping music charts with tracks from their second studio album “Crush.” The group released their new album on February 27 at 12:00 AM KST, rapidly topping Naver’s real-time search terms and attacking online music charts.

“Crush” has achieved all-kill status, and all tracks on the album are currently lined up one after another on music charts, exhibiting the album’s explosive reception in Korea.

One of their two title tracks, “Come Back Home,” made a clean sweep of the charts, seizing the number one position on 10 real-time online music charts almost immediately (Melon, Bugs, Mnet, Naver Music, Daum Music, Olleh, Cyworld Music, Soribada, Monkey3 and Genie).

The main competitor to “Come Back Home” is 2NE1’s other title track, “Gotta Be You,” which has taken second place on all 10 of the music charts listed above.

The album’s other eight tracks, including CL’s compositions, “Crush,” “If I Were You,” and “Baby I Miss You,” aren’t doing too shabbily themselves, with almost all of the tracks occupying top ten spots on most charts.

“Crush” will be released offline on March 7, following 2NE1’s first two concerts of their “All or Nothing” World Tour in Seoul on March 1 and 2. The group will be broadcasting their rehearsal for this weekend’s “All or Nothing” concerts live on Naver at 7:00 PM KST.

Interview: Teddy, 2NE1’s Crush “Put So Much Thought Into It”

[EXCLUSIVE] TEDDY, 2NE1’S CRUSH “PUT SO MUCH THOUGHT INTO IT” (INTERVIEW)

[스타뉴스 이지현 기자] YG Entertainment’s producer TEDDY, aged 35, said 2NE1’s 2nd full album CRUSH will be a “long-loved” music.

On the phone interview with Star News on Feb 26, TEDDY sounded confident about 2NE1’s upcoming full album that is to be released at 12 am, which is 0 hour of Feb 27.

He said, “2NE1 has been loved with many songs, but being unable to stray away from those hit songs can hinder them from going further,” and, “So despite the risks, we decided to create a song that will last.”

He added, “There are so many ‘instant’ songs these days, and I and 2NE1’s members and other producers decided to focus on a song that will last.”

When asked the concept of music, he said, “It’s colorful.” “2NE1 was able to showcase electronic, hip-hop, R&B, reggae and more, and the latest one is also a mixture of many. But it doesn’t look messy. It naturally blends all the different kinds of music 2NE1 can take in.”

As this is the first one in many years, the preparation took that much time. He commented, “Out of 10 songs, some were produced in 2 to 3 weeks, while other ones took 2 and a half years.”

The title song “COME BACK HOME” is identical to that of Seotaeji and Boys, a group of which YG’s founder YANG HYUN SUK was a member. “It has a hint of reggae with melody. It’s sentimental.” When asked why it’s named the way it is, he said, “I liked the word HOME more than COME BACK. I realized how good this phrase is.”

TEDDY extolled the producing skills of CL, who will showcase 3 of her own written and composed songs. “There are only 3 in this album, but there are about 20 songs she wrote and composed. She works very quickly and produces good music. She does this despite her young age. She’s very talented. She often shows me her songs, and I can say for sure that she is good at producing and she possesses her very own musical mind.”

When asked how 2NE1 would do with the latest album, his answer was modest. “I often fail to predict correctly. The listeners will judge the album.”

But he looked greatly satisfied that the album encompasses 2NE1’s real talents and their colors. He explained, “You can have your expectations high for each song in the album. We put so much thought into them, so I hope people trust us when they listen to the songs.”

Article: 2NE1’s ‘Come Back Home’ overtakes SNSD and takes #1 on 9 digital music charts

1. [+511, -94] Listen to all of the songs in the album, they’re all daebak ㅋㅋㅋ I saw them on the live charts this morning and got so excited listening to all of them. There’s a song that feels like the old ‘Fire’, there’s a ballad… finally songs I can loop on repeat ㅠㅠ And please don’t use SNSD in the titles -_-

2. [+384, -56] I like the other tracks better than the title track for some reason ㅋ

3. [+339, -209] Everyone usually gets their new tracks at #1 at least once

4. [+75, -42] I like this better than SNSD’s song

5. [+69, -25] I’m not a fan but 2NE1’s new album is going to be remembered in female idol history. Each of the songs are modern and full of emotional and you can tell that a lot of work was put into them. They really got ready for this battle and it ended up barely being any competition… I think this album will put 2NE1 back at their peak with ‘Fire’, ‘I Don’t Care’, and ‘I’m the Best’

6. [+61, -37] The title track and the rest of the tracks are amazing… Mr. Mr. doesn’t even begin to compare

7. [+44, -11] 2NE1 got so much crap for trying to hit SNSD from the back but unless you’re deaf, comparing their songs side by side… the clear victor here is 2NE1 by far.

8. [+36, -9] I like all of the songs~ I like SNSD as well but their recent song is just so so…

1. [+616, -54] I’ve been disappointed in them since ‘The Baddest Female’ but this album is really daebak

2. [+549, -56] Got goose bumps just 10 seconds after downloading the song ㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+477, -45] It’s an album that really has 2NE1’s colors on the songs

4. [+147, -12] I think ‘Come Back Home’ will become one of 2NE1’s legendary song

5. [+134, -12] Already looping them…

6. [+129, -10] Fu*k, I have ‘Come Back Home’ on loop…

1. [+1,234, -106] Expectations have been met……. I genuinely like it

2. [+990, -99] This album is going to hit daebak for sure!!

3. [+896, -90] I wish they made Crush and Come Back Home the title tracks

4. [+267, -36] They definitely upgraded the current state of the Korean music industry ㅋㅋㅋ Can’t describe the album as anything other than daebak..

5. [+206, -19] Fell asleep listening to the unplugged version of Come Back Home in the morning, so good ㅠㅠ

2NE1’s New Album ‘Crush’ Takes Over Music Charts

59667002

2NE1 has proven its musical power once again by taking over the music charts with its new album Crush.

2NE1 released its second full length album Crush on February 27, ranking both titles and the other tracks at the top of music charts.

In Naver Music, Bugs, Mnet, Soribada, Daum Music, Olleh Music and Genie, 2NE1’s new songs nearly took over the top ten spots, beating out all other artists, except Girls’ Generation (SNSD)’s Mr. Mr. and SoyouXJunggigo’s Some on the top spot.

The second album consists of ten songs including the songs composed by CL herself. The title single Come Back Home is a cross over dance song and the album includes the unplugged version of the song, allowing fans to enjoy the same song with different vibes.

A music critic Hwang Sun Up said, “The attention has been on whether the songs composed by CL and her producing ability will be well accepted by the public. 2NE1’s producing abilities will be put to the test through this album.”

Meanwhile, 2NE1 will be performing its new songs at its upcoming concert taking place on March 1 and 2 at Olympic park’s SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium.

February’s Self-Marketed Comebacks

201402261120770571_530d5024969b5_59_20140226112904-jpg

The Korean music industry of today is based on self-marketing. With artists alerting their fans of their comeback through social networking services, they are attempting to establish a closer relationship.

Recently, Girls’ Generation, 2NE1CNBLUE and BTOB have experimented with new methods of self-marketing.

On the 25th, Girls’ Generation sprayed graffiti on SM Entertainment building walls. Along with their individual signatures, they left the words “Mr. Mr.” on the walls to advertise their upcoming comeback. This act amassed attention for being a new and refreshing way of marketing.

In addition, members Taeyeon and Seohyun posted statuses on each of their online social accounts. On SM the Ballad‘s single release day she posted, “Today. 12 P.M. Set me free! Breath M/V! 19th SNSD comeback!” together with a photograph of her with a surprised expression. Seohyun, on the other hand, uploaded a photograph of her on the set of their new M/V.

2NE1 member Sandara Park, through her Instagram account, has posted various spoilers of their comeback. For example, in order to promote their new single “Come Back Home”, she uploaded a teaser of her rocking a metallic blue hairdo and a black beanie reminiscent of howSeo Taiji and the Boys looked like during their “Come Back Home” days. In addition, large-scale balloons were put up in front of the YG building to celebrate 2NE1’s return.

On the 24th, after the release of their album, CNBLUE was seen on the subway promoting their work. During the shooting of KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Weekly”, CNBLUE took 3 signed CD’s of their album Can’t Stop to a subway station in order to self-market it. They explained their music to each individual they met and shook hands with them as well.

BTOB, who made their comeback on the 17th with “Beep Beep”, have been fiercely self-marketing their EP. At a radio station, they promoted a campaign of safe driving(which has to do with their title track). In addition, they gave out bread and drinks that were labeled with the words ‘Beep Beep’ to the radio staff as well as invited guests.

Article: Arts & Culture Part 1 – K-pop Girl Groups Go Head-to-Head with New Albums

Arts & Culture Part 1 – K-pop Girl Groups Go Head-to-Head with New Albums

snsd21

And now it’s time for our regular Arts & Culture segment with Lee Tae Ho.
Today, Tae Ho brings us all the latest from the world of K-pop.
Good afternoon, Mr. Mr. Tae Ho.

Good afternoon, Yeon-ji.
Well, it seems that you are quite up to date on your K-pop hits.

Yes, I am.
So what’s the news in K-pop this week?

This week, and especially the past two days, has been big for fans of K-pop, with two powerhouse girl groups releasing brand-new albums on successive days.
Let’s go ahead and find out which groups are going head-to-head.

The ladies of the powerhouse girl group Girls’ Generation have finally released their long-awaited new mini album.
The album was released on February 24th, and it went straight to number one on nine online music charts here in Korea in just under an hour.
The lead single, “Mr. Mr.,” was produced by the world-renowned Underdogs, who have worked with such international stars as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
But will the ladies continue to show the world that this is still their generation?

Another powerhouse girl group is about to release its first full-length album in four long years.
The long-awaited album is by the Korean girl group 2NE1 and it’s called “Crush.”
2NE1’s label, YG Entertainment, has released teaser images for each member of the group leading up to the release, which will be at midnight, tonight.
Interestingly enough, one of the lead singles from the album is titled “Come Back Home” and it has drawn a great deal of attention here in Korea, because the title is the same as a hit song by the legendary group Seo Taiji and Boys, of which YG CEO Yang Hyun-suk was formerly a member.

In any case, whether you’re a fan of Girls’ Generation or 2NE1, February is shaping up to be a great month for fans of K-pop.
