The girls of 2NE1 were also busy taking on the world this year, but member Sandara Park wasn’t too busy to keep fans posted on their whereabouts through her me2day.

So, when the loyal me2day user attempted to quietly join Twitter this year, it, of course, didn’t remain a secret for long.

The queen of emoticons and photo decals, Sandara Park’s SNS updates not only brightened up cyberspace, they made for an extra sweet 2012.

Article: NY Times – Pop’s Big Nights; The Best Concerts of 2012 (2NE1 and BigBang at #2)

Screen shot 2012-12-27 at 8.20.13 AM

A concert is always more than just a rendering of songs. It’s a musical revamp, a real-time test, a spectacle, a pop-up community, perhaps a dance party or an incipient riot — and, even in the YouTube era, an ephemeral, site-specific experience. Here the pop and jazz critics of The New York Times recall some of their favorite live events of 2012, in order of importance.

#2 – 2NE1 and Big Bang

2NE1 Aug. 17, and BIGBANG Nov. 8, both at Prudential Center, Newark. This was the year K-pop arrived — not in the form of “Gangnam Style,” which was everywhere and yet completely evanescent — but in these arena shows, which were full of thousands of young, paying fans eager to see the girls of 2NE1 and the boys of BigBang, groups with zero American hits between them, but rabid American followings all the same.

Oooh! Another fanboy added to Dara’s long list! Keke ^^

So Cool is a Thai rock band, and Joke is their lead vocalist. He says he likes 2NE1, Big Bang, and 4 minute, and that his bias in 2NE1 is Dara! ^_^ He also said that he wanted to name his daughter ‘Dara’, but named her ‘Yujin’ instead. 🙂

Dara (2NE1)

2ne1-dara-2012

If you’re looking for something cute or maybe some makeup to give to a friend, then 2NE1’s Dara would be the perfect shopping companion. Dara is one that knows her cutesy things as well as her makeup products, and would be able to help you find the perfect gift for your friend. Plus she’s a shopaholic, so I’m sure she would walk away with quite a few things herself.

CL, G-Dragon, and Thunder were also mentioned in the article.. Check out what was said about them after the cut!

Fashion Find: Dara’s “Oh-So-Expensive” 2012 Melon Music Awards Red Carpet Look

I think I choked a little while searching for Dara’s 2012 Melon Music Awards Red Carpet look. ^_^ So expensive! Dara opted for a more conservative yet stylish look. To be honest, I was hoping she would go the sexy route (circa Melon Music Awards 2009) but I am digging her rocker chic look nonetheless!

Korean group’s New Evolution 2012 Global Tour closes in Singapore

SINGAPORE — “Bigger than Psy.” At the height of the “Gangnam Style” craze, Forbes made this daring pronouncement in October, after K-Pop idol 2NE1 staged sold-out concerts in both the US East and West coasts as part of their 2012 New Evolution Global Tour — a groundbreaking endeavor that made them the first Korean girl group to embark on a world tour.

‘While the comparison may be a tad awkward, the contention is probably based on the difference between who’s watching and who’s buying.

While Psy’s ubiquitous single gallops to nearly one billion views on YouTube, unofficial tallies show sales at between five to six million downloads worldwide; it is his biggest hit since entering the music industry 12 years ago.

On the other hand, 2NE1 has sold over 27 million digital downloads since their 2009 debut, including “I Am The Best,” which moved 4.5 million units and propelled them to a “perfect all-kill” sweep on Korean and other Asian music charts. It was only one of several songs that hit No. 1 for the group that was named MTV Iggy’s “Best New Band in the World,” describing the girls as “an unparalleled presence in today’s K-Pop scene.”

Singapore showdown

If their unexpected showdown in Singapore last December 1 was any indication, then Forbes might not be all that audacious in their forecast. Their shows clashed head-on that Saturday evening, filling the harbor skies with exciting K-Pop fireworks.

Psy pranced and regaled an audience of 4,000 who flocked to see his free concert at the Marina Bay Sands, while 2NE1 rocked the Singapore Indoor Stadium with a full house of more than 8,000 screaming fans who shelled out over S$200 for tickets.

At the end of the day, however, there is really no competition between the two acts since everything is kept all in the family — the YG Family to be exact. Both Psy and 2E1 (as well as recent Manila visitor Big Bang) belong to the same management group, YG Entertainment, whose chairman Yang Hyun-suk has been officially named the richest man in South Korea’s entertainment industry today.

Feature: 2NE1 And Big Bang Included In MTV Style’s ‘Best Band Style of 2012’

Best Band Style Of 2012

And just like that, we’re officially one week into December and THAT much closer to the end of the year. While we countdown to new beginnings and fresh starts in 2013, we’re recapping our favorite style moments from 2012. We’re hitting all the important areas we can before our speakers start playing Auld Lang Syne. From celebrity nail art to magazine covers, Instagram selfies to facial hair and everything in between!

It’s one thing for individuals to have exemplary style. (*ACHEM* If you haven’t voted in ourReaders’ Choice: Best Dressed of 2012 poll yet, you should probably do that!) But it’s another thing entirely for a band (of multiple people!) to pull off individual outfits but still look cohesive. With the epic resurgence of boy bands (thanks, One Direction and The Wanted!) and plenty of OG comeback stories, the well-dressed ensemble group was not that rare a thing this year. Thus, we bring you the best band style of 2012.

2NE1

2ne1-band-style

K Pop had a GIGANTIC year in 2012, partly because of “Gangnam Style” and partly because the genre is CHOCK FULL of boy bands and girl groups. MTV Style has a soft spot for 2NE1 thanks to their propensity for all things bold and colorful and their enviable closeness with Jeremy Scott.

On the eve of their 2NE1 New Evolution World Tour in Singapore, KAvenyou met up with the bubbly 2NE1 girls for their concert press conference, where they shared details of their upcoming plans, their unforgettable experiences with their Blackjacks and about their own 2NE1 style!

Q: How does it feel like to be back in Singapore again?
CL: Well, I think it’s our third time, or our fourth time here. We’re very very happy to come back and we loveSingapore, and this time it’s for our show so we’re very excited.

Q: How do you stay in shape with such a fully packed schedule?
CL: Actually, we’re on tour so it’s easier because we spend a lot of energy to do all these travelling. So it’s actually easier when we’re on tour, and harder when we’re just staying in Korea!

Q: When you do have some free time, what do you guys do to relax and enjoy yourselves?
CL: Well, I think we’re all different, so for me – I don’t know, I’m not good at relaxing, I’m a workaholic!
Dara: I will spend some quality cat time, I love spending time with my cat at home! (Emcee: So what’s your cat’s name?) Dadoongie! Do you know Thunder? He’s my brother and his Korean name is Chundoong, so its name is Dadoongie!
Bom: I eat!
Minzy: I like knitting during my free time!

Oh I love this! The lucky fanboy who got to kiss Dara was interviewed by Singapore newspaper, “The New Paper”. I wish we could see the whole article. ^^

“That kiss changed my life. Her lips were smooth, she smelt of perfume and the whole thing just felt amazing.” – Kevin Koh
