Article: Kpopstarz – “Girls’ Generation SHared Their Thoughts on Promoting Alongside 2NE1”

Girls’ Generation Shared Their Thoughts On Promoting Alongside 2NE1

girls-generation-and-2ne1K-Pop girl group Girls’ Generation shared how happy they were to promote alongside with their rival group 2NE1. During the group’s recent backstage interview on “Music Bank” on March 7, Girls’ Generation shared “Our promotions are overlapping for the first time in a while so it’s fun and pleasant.”

Tiffany and Seohyun said, “During Girls’ Generation and 2NE1’s early years, girl groups were not that common… Now that we get to promote together, we feel proud and good to show girl power in the K-Pop scene.”
Seohyun gave her opinion saying, “2NE1’s color is totally different from ours… It is fun to watch 2NE1’s stage. We also plan to definitely watch 2NE1’s stage… Rather than competing with other girl groups, we will naturally show our sunbae image… Although there is a sense of responsibility and pressure, I think that we can grow because of that.”

Seohyun get to talked about how they felt relieved as their group finally make a comeback with “Mr.Mr”. “It feels like our thirst has finally been quenched.” Tiffany also shared how their group’s MV data loss is a blessing in disguise saying, “As our comeback schedule got delayed, we thought it was an opportunity to show a perfect stage… Although we always do best to prepare for our comebacks, this time we also listened to our song over 50 times a day and practiced hard. I think there is a time for everything including our comeback… Each stage will be worth looking forward to.”

The battle between two biggest girl group will be seen on music shows this weekend!

Article: Kpopstarz – “Physical Copies of 2NE1’s New Album “Crush” is Released for Sale”

Physical Copies of 2NE1’s New Album “CRUSH” is Released For Sale

2NE1-정규-2집-‘CRUSH’-발매..핑크블랙-두-버전The physical version of 2NE1‘s second studio album CRUSH was finally released on the 7th on all national online and offline music stores.

This new album, which contains a total of 10 songs including the double title tracks “COME BACK HOME” and “GOTTA BE YOU”, has been released in two distinct versions: a pink and a black edition.

The visual contrast between these albums comes to show the wide range of charms 2NE1 displays via their music.

By working extensively on their album, treating the production and composition of every song as a possible title track, the group concluded all preparations with a product that encompassed various genres such as Reggae, hip-hop and R&B. CL, especially, was responsible for the writing and composition of “CRUSH”, “IF I WERE YOU” and “BABY I MISS YOU” as well as the lyrics for “SCREAM” and her solo track “MENTAL BREAKDOWN”.

Ever since 2NE1’s online release of “CRUSH” on February 26th, the album has been receiving positive feedback from national and international audiences. Not only has it managed to achieve an ‘all-kill’ in domestic online music charts but it also topped the iTunes charts in several other countries. For example, “COME BACK HOME” ranked #1 on the iTunes Top Singles Chart in the Philippines as well as their album CRUSH topped the Top Albums Chart at #1 in Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and Thailand. In addition, it ranked high on other countries such as the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

Most surprising of all, however, is the recent finding of “CRUSH” in Billboard’s chart Billboard 200. This marks the highest ranking a K-Pop group has achieved in the chart.

Currently, 2NE1 is preparing for their March 9th “Inkigayo” broadcast in which they will showcase their first comeback stage. In addition, they will continue their world tour ‘ALL OR NOTHING’ with their second destination, Hong Kong, on the 22nd.

Overall it was a great success.

However, 2NE1’s event did not end at the SK Handball Stadium. After the concert on the 2nd, the girls hosted an after party at club ‘THE A’, which is located in Gangnam Gu Yeoksam Dong, at around 10 P.M. The reason for this after party was to address the sorrow of fans that usually follows after the end of a concert. With their fans filling up the club, the heat and energy that was initiated at the concert was revived once again.

2NE1 arrived at the club at around 1 A.M on the 3rd. The fans, who had been waiting hours for their arrival, fixed their gazes on the stage. Occupying all of floors of the venue, the audience cheered on the girls as they performed their familiar tracks “I Am The Best” and “I Love You” as well as those off their new album such as “Gotta Be You” and CL‘s solo “Mental Breakdown”. Despite the fact that they had previously done a 2 hour and 30 minute long concert, 2NE1 displayed no signs of physical deterioration and showed the same amount of energy they did before.

The event at the club also proved to be a success, as fans were able to watch the girls in a more intimate and close setting. In addition, 2NE1 kept their high level of charisma, energy and power that they displayed on the SK Handball Stadium stage. This marks the first time a Korean girl group hosts an after party after a concert.

YG Entertainment made the announcement on March 5, “Up to now 2NE1’s songs released in Japan were translated into Japanese, but this album will be sold as it is, which is Korean. The reason is that local related personnel who listened to the album gave good reviews on the original songs, so we decided to keep it this way.”

Article: Kpopstarz – “YG Yang Hyun Suk, ‘This Is Only The Beginning For 2NE1’”

YG Yang Hyun Suk, ‘This Is Only The Beginning For 2NE1’

201403021937779431_53130a29e0f65

YG Entertainment‘s lead producer Yang Hyun Suk made a meaningful statement regarding 2NE1, saying that it’s just the beginning for the girl group.

Up till now, 2NE1 has released multiple hit songs, and is widely recognized as a leading girl group not just in YG Entertainment, but everywhere worldwide. What led Yang Hyun Suk to make such a statement about this 5-year girl group?

On March 5th Yang Hyun Suk stated, “We can find the answer in 9-year group Big Bang. Big Bang is composed of talented songwriter and music producer G-Dragon, as well as other members that have respective lively solo activities. They’ve created a Big Bang brand and proved the group’s worth very solidly.”

Big Bang is a unique case in that they’re a male group that has had a strong career for all 9 years of its existence, especially among the numerous idol groups that are popular for just a short while before disappearing into the background. For most groups, even if they’re quite popular, 4 years is the average length of activities before they disband or become less popular. When we compare Big Bang to those other groups, this group has increasingly become more popular, even overseas. It’s very unique, indeed.

Yang Hyun Suk said, “This is just the beginning” because he was referring to 2NE1’s 5 year success and great satisfaction in CL‘s work for the group. She wrote and composed 2NE1”s most recent album and they are all very pleased with the results.

The music industry is full of girl groups that come out with sexy or cute concepts. Newer girl groups are constantly making their debuts in this market which progresses very quickly, and it’s difficult to stand out among the myriads of groups.

Despite this difficulty, 2NE1 is set apart in that they pay little heed to their appearances or sexy concepts, and it’s hard to find any one girl group that is like them. They have uniqueness, and from the very beginning they differentiated themselves. Since their debut they haven’t been afraid to be different from Korea’s other girl groups. When we consider this, it’s understandable why Yang Hyun Suk isn’t afraid to take 2NE1 out of the girl group category and instead label them as artists.

We can also catch a glimpse of Yang Hyun Suk’s determination to further highlight the members’ skills, and make them excel musically. That’s why for him it’s not an overstatement to say that the February 27th release of 2NE1’s 2nd full length album is ‘the beginning of their transformation.’ The attention has been focused on how 2NE1 will step forward as artists with their current album.

2NE1 SET NEW RECORD FOR K-POP IN BILLBOARD 200

2014030220311426146-540x368

[OSEN=강서정 기자] Girl group 2NE1 has set a new record in “Billboard 200”, the main chart of American Billboard, by taking the highest-ever place in the chart among K-Pop songs.

Billboard.com announced on the 5 this month (local time), “2NE1 has set a new record in the United States. ‘CRUSH’ has entered “Billboard 200” by taking the 61st place”.

Then, Billboard said, “Title track ‘COME BACK HOME’ is ranked in the 5th place in ‘World Digital Songs Chart’”.

Following PSY who set the highest-ever record in Billboard for a Korean pop song with his “GANGNAM STYLE” by taking the second place in “Billboard HOT 100”, Billboard’s single-album chart, 2NE1’s “CRUSH” has now come to have the highest record in “Billboard 200” at the 61st place, among Korean pop albums.

That makes YG have two highest-ever records among Korean pop songs, in two main charts of Billboard.

2NE1 Sets New U.S. Record for Highest-Charting, Best-Selling K-Pop Album With ‘Crush’

The female quartet snags the accomplishment without revealing any album material prior

K-pop notches its biggest sales week yet for an album, thanks to 2NE1. The girl group’s new album Crush opens at No. 61 on the Billboard 200, selling 5,000 copies in the week ending March 2, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The set surpasses the previous best week, logged by boy band BIGBANG’s “Alive” in 2012, which launched with 4,000. More impressively, the quartet managed the feat with four days of sales.

2NE1 also immediately sets the record for the highest-charting K-Pop album on the Billboard 200. Until this week’s chart, the scene had only hit as high as No. 126 with Girls’ Generation-TTS’ “Twinkle” EP in 2012.

Similarly to Girls’ Generation’s “Mr. Mr.” EP rollout — which bows at No. 110 on Billboard 200 in the week ending March 2 — “Crush” had an atypical album release. The LP dropped on digital retailers on Feb. 27 without revealing any of the album’s material — not even a snippet. No music videos promoted the album either.

The videos for lead single “Come Back Home” (above) and album track “Happy” (below) were revealed on March 2, after that week’s tracking period. 2NE1 did spend 2013 promoting three digital singles — “Falling in Love,” “Do You Love Me?” and “Missing You” — but none appear on this LP.

Elsewhere on Billboard charts, 2NE1 sends every album track to the K-Pop Hot 100 this week, all charting inside the top 40 slots. Their chart dominance ranks as follows:

No. 2 “Come Back Home”
No. 4 “Gotta Be You”
No. 7 “If I Were You”
No. 9 “Crush”
No. 11 “Good to You”
No. 16 “MTBD”
No. 17 “Happy”
No. 18 “Scream”
No. 22 “Baby I Miss You”
No. 39 “Come Back Home (Unplugged Ver.)”

On the World Digital Songs chart, 2NE1 controls six of the 25 titles on the tally, led by “Come Back Home” at No. 5. All charts will be refreshed tomorrow morning on Billboard.com.

They introduced their song, “Come Back Home” as a reggae trap hybrid genre and that mixing the two created an amazing outcome.
