SBS’ ‘Inkigayo’ Eliminates Ranking System, ′Mutizen Song Award′ and ′Take 7′

Changes are a-coming for SBS’ Inkigayo.

Beginning from this week’s July 15 broadcast of SBS’ weekly music show, the show will do away with the ‘Mutizen Song’ title and ‘Take 7’ system with a new format to be instated.

According to a source close to the production, Inkigayo will strive to move away from being solely a music program and to become a music ‘show’ through a new system and a wide range of diverse stages.

In addition, more special stages including collaborations with foreign musicians are being planned.

The move will make KBS’ Music Bank the sole music program, among the three terrestrial major networks, to still utilize a ranking system.

MBC’s Music Core eliminated its ranking system in 2006.

News: SNSD, SHINee, 2NE1 and DBSK The Most Popular K-Pop Dance Artists Across the World

SNSD, SHINee, 2NE1 and DBSK The Most Popular K-Pop Dance Artists Across the World

As part of its ongoing K-Pop Cover Dance Festival, the Visit Korea Committee has released an aggregated figure of who have been the most popular K-Pop artists covered in dance by region.

According to its figures, from April 26 through July 10 a total of 1,350 teams have sent in submissions spanning six continents and 50 different nations.

By regions, the top five artists being covered were as follows:

Overall, SNSD, SHINee and SISTAR seemed to enjoy the most broad appeal among the different regions.

South America was overwhelmingly in favor of covering SM artists with 4Minute being the lone non-SM artist represented in the region.

Australia/Oceania went against the trend of most of the other regions as SNSD didn’t chart in its top five and SHINee barely made the top five while DBSK took the top ranking in its listing.

Africa indicated the most diverse ranking with Block B being the most popular artist to cover and 2PM making a showing in the top five as well.

As for the ranking of artists most covered overall?

SNSD took the top spot with 157 dance covers, SHINee in second with 98 covers, miss A in third with 79, SISTAR in fourth with 75 and 2NE1 in fifth with 70.

The finalists for the K-Pop Dance Cover Festival will be invited in September to Gyeongju in Gyeongsangbuk-do to perform at the K-Pop Dance Cover Festival stage.

The full listing can be found here while the dance cover’s homepage can be viewed here.

Twitter/Photo: Candy Nippon – “Xin is a stylist of 2NE1…”

Ohhh! Looks like 2NE1’s stylist visited “Fake Tokyo” earlier today? Did they visit to get more clothes for 2NE1? Whatever their purpose, I hope they style the girls in a way that fit them best! ^^

Video: 2NE1 – “I Love You” Dance Practice

OMG!!! CAN I JUST FREAKING SAY? DARA LOOKS ABSOLUTELY FREAKING GORGEOUS IN THIS ONE! MY JAW DROPPED WHEN I SAW HER! I WANT HER TO MARRY THIS HAIR!

On the other hand, go maknaes! You can dance and grind like no other. Bommie, always as cute as ever.

On the other hand, I abhor the camera angles and the editing of this video. Can’t they just have a video camera on a tripod and just film it? We would have appreciated the dance better.

Article: 2NE1 – Pushing Boundaries, Defying Expectations

Their larger-than-life stage presence and natural charm were already enough to make them stars but their uncanny ability to produce something fresh and out of the ordinary with every new release — catching fans and casual listeners off-guard without exception — has placed them in a league of their own.

Just three years after their debut, they have become one of the most popular K-pop groups today, turning heads all around the world, from Korea and Japan to the United States and Brazil. They were at the Cannes Lions, presenting K-pop’s spread at the advertising world’s biggest event. Spin Magazine ranked the group’s sophomore EP “2nd Mini Album” No. 6 on its review of best pop albums, above those by Florence + the Machine, Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna and fellow K-pop act Girls’ Generation.

For the group’s members, C.L., Bom, Dara and Minzy, success has come from hard work and the willingness to venture outside their comfort zone. But the girls’ surprisingly introverted demeanor at the interview, in stark contrast to their free-wheeling energy on stage, made the occasion even more intriguing, trying to discover the formula behind the hitherto foolproof K-pop magic potion.

“For 2NE1, it’s always been all about music,” said rapper and vocalist C.L., 21, who was the most engaging during last week’s interview but saved her words for later. “People really respond to that.”
