2NE1 MEETS WITH FANS AT SIGNING EVENT: FIRST TIME IN 3 YEARS

2NE1-3년만에-팬사인회-‘팬들과-가까이서-만난다’[OSEN=강서정 기자] YG’s 2NE1 is to hold a signing event in celebration of their album release for the first time in 3 years.

The quartet will be meeting their fans at the circular stage located in Seoul Yeongdeungpo Times Square Atrium Floor 1 for about one hour starting from 8:30pm on March 15.

Their signing event is the first one in 3 years since 2011 when they released a 2nd mini album, which makes the fans even more excited.

Those who want to be part of the event can enter after buying 2NE1’s newest album at Yeongdeungpo Kyobo Hot Tracks from March 11 to 13. The list of those chosen to be part of the event will be published on Hot Tracks homepage on March 14.

The latest full album “CRUSH” was released on March 7 in two different versions Pink and Black, which holds a total of 10 songs including the title song “COME BACK HOME” and “GOTTA BE YOU.”

The songs cut across reggae, hip-hop, R&B and other genres, and the album ranked #61 on Billboard 200. This is a new record for a South Korean album, which proves that the time-invested album is gaining much popularity.

2NE1 showcased their first TV comeback on SBS’s Inkigayo on March 9 with such strong presence, which marks the beginning of their frequent appearances on TV. The divas will travel overseas for their 2nd World Tour “ALL OR NOTHING.”

[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] 2NE1, through an interview, explained how they felt after delivering the first comeback performance of their 2nd full album “CRUSH.”

In the evening of March 9, 2NE1 was in Seoul Deungchondong to make a comeback on SBS’s Inkigayo with their 2nd full album. They showcased their title song “COME BACK HOME” and “CRUSH,” a song that gets its name from the album title. Their performance was indeed dynamic and powerful.

It was a special day for the quartet and the fans as this was the first music program on which they were showcasing the songs from the latest album.

Although their full sound tracks of “CRUSH” came out on Feb 27 and the offline version on March 7, their 2nd World Tour performances in Seoul Olympic Park’s SK Handball Arena on March 1 and 2 were all fans could see. This is the reason fans were anticipating much for the Inkigayo comeback for a long time.

On the day of Inkigayo, 2NE1 met with the interviewer of Star News at the site to talk about how they felt about the comeback.

CL, the leader, commented, “It was both exciting and fun to unveil to the fans our album that came out for the first time in 4 years.”

“We took muck time preparing the new songs and the performances, and it was a delight to reveal it. The choreography of “COME BACK HOME” was designed by our boss YANG, and its quality makes us very confident.”

DARA said, “We were nervous but we also had fun. Starting from today, we will be able to show our fans many more performances on TV from now on.”

BOM added, “We had fun today and we still have a lot to show you. Because we invested so much time in this album and the performances, we are feeling confident about the other performances to come in the future.”

MINZY continued, “I am glad it ended well, and since I just turned 20 I will be able to show the fans more mature performances of a wider range.”

2NE1 once again proved their global stardom by topping various music charts home and abroad immediately after their new album release. The album “CRUSH” ranked #61 in America’s top music site Billboard 200 of the recent weekly chart, breaking the record for K-Pop group.

U.S. Billboard Continues To Praise 2NE1's New Song, 'Come Back Home'

U.S. Billboard continued to praise group 2NE1‘s new album and title song, “Come Back Home.”

On March 3, Billboard stated, “2NE1 returned with reggae and ballad genres in 2013 and has made a different style comeback this year with their ‘CRUSH’ album. They have returned with an electro-pop and hip hop sound that showcases something new as well as a bit of their old sound.”

They introduced their song, “Come Back Home” as a reggae trap hybrid genre and that mixing the two created an amazing outcome.

Billboard also recently released an article spotlighting their two title songs, “Come Back Home” and “Happy” and praised the music videos as well.

2NE1 simultaneously released the music videos for their tracks “Come Back Home” and “Happy” on March 3rd at around 2 P.M.

In the morning of the 3rdYG Entertainment posted, through their official blog, (www.yg-life.com) a timer for the release of the music videos as well as a teaser image for each respective video. The music video for “Happy” was screened beforehand on March 1st and 2nd during 2NE1’s concert at the Olympic Park SK Olympic Handball Stadium. These two images, shown below, were deliberately put next to each other in order to highlight their differences; “Come Back Home” is distinctly dark and charismatic while “Happy” is bright and colorful.

In this article, however, we will be focusing on the cinematic aspect of 2NE1’s “Come Back Home”. 2NE1’s new music video shocked fans and audiences alike. Through heavy CG work, we see the girls in a futuristic world complete with high-tech architecture and ultramodern technology. The group matches this futuristic backdrop with their unique style as well. In addition, the plot of the video seems to match the lyrics of the song, as we seeSandara Park act out a relationship with a man. With an obvious focus on visuals, there is evidently a developing storyline, making the music video complete.

To clarify things, Yang Hyun Suk explains the sci-fi concept behind the music video, “It might be hard to understand it at first. All you have to know is that finding happiness in the real world is the most important thing. In ‘Come Back Home’ we are placed in a futuristic world where the citizens choose to live in an intangible, imaginary world. Just like the movie ‘Matrix’, these people are connected to machines and prefer to transport themselves to another world instead of living in the world that they physically inhabit.”

He concludes, “Nowadays, people would rather talk or ‘meet’ via their smartphones instead of having a face-to-face conversation. Not only that, more and more people become addicted to these online games that create virtual worlds. In the music video, Sandara Park is heartbroken for this reason: her boyfriend is addicted to a virtual world. As a result, the 2NE1 members go into this false world and attempt to destroy it in order to spread the message that the real world is more important.”

2NE1 will make their first broadcast comeback on the 9th via SBS’s “Inkigayo
