‘COME BACK HOME’, the title song of 2NE1’s new album ‘CRUSH’, became 1st place on music websites such as Melon and Mnet, the biggest music website in Korea, and also on Olleh Music, Bugs, Cyworld Music and Genie and so on an hour after its release on the midnight of February 27th.

Not only that, including another title song ‘GOTTA BE YOU’, the listed songs such as ‘CRUSH’, ‘IF I WERE YOU’, ‘GOOD TO YOU’ and ‘MTBD’ and so on were ranked in top 10 and showed its power by showing the skill of lining up in a row.

‘COME BACK HOME’, which became 1st place, is a crossover genre dance song that mixed various genres such as reggae and hip hop. Especially, it added restoring-the-old melody to the calm sound that can be heard at the intro and took care of refinedness and addictiveness. Also in the latter half, it added freshness by giving a twist with EDM trap.

In this album, the leader CL took part in writing the lyrics and composing the song of total 3 songs such as ‘CRUSH’, ‘IF I WERE YOU’ and ‘BABY I MISS YOU’ and wrote the lyrics for her solo songs ‘MTBD’ and ‘SCREAM’.

2NE1 disclosed all songs in their second regular album “CRUSH” on the 27 at 0 o’clock on online music-streaming websites. As of 8am on the same day, “COME BACK HOME”, one of the double title tracks of the album, is ranked in the No.1 place on the real-time charts of nine music-streaming sites: Melon, Mnet, Olleh Music, Bugs, Genie, Naver Music, Daum Music, Soribada, and Cyworld Music. As “GOTTA BE YOU”, the other one of the double title, has also took the top place in the real-time chart of Monkey3, 2NE1 has dominated all of the ten major music-streaming sites in Korea.

“COME BACK HOME” and “GOTTA BE YOU”, the double title, have different colors.

“COME BACK HOME” is a cross-over dance music where elements of R&B, reggae, and hip-hop genres are mixed together, which was co-produced by YG Entertainment’s main producer TEDDY and other producers. The sentimental lyrics of the song express the heart of a woman missing her lost love. 2NE1’s unique vocal stands out in this song, which centers around an easy melody, and a powerful and exciting beat, as well as an old-school style melody catch ears.

2NE1 is boasting their strong presence on music charts, making multiple songs including the double title, “CRUSH”, “IF I WERE YOU”, “GOOD TO YOU”, “MTBD”, and “HAPPY” take top places in major music charts such as Melon, Bugs, Soribada, and Olleh Music.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 meets their overseas fans in nine countries, in their second world tour that begins next month. The world tour starts from Seoul concert that will be held on March 1 and 2 at Olympic Park SK Handball Hall located in Songpa-gu, Seoul.

The offline album will be released on the 7 next month and total four music videos have been created for the new album.

Not only 2NE1 but also their label YG Entertainment have a special resolution for the new album. YG’s head Yang Hyun Suk said that “2NE1’s new album has an unprecedented quality”, so fans expectations for the album have been heightening to the peak. Fancy teaser images of each member, which have been creating sensation recently, a music-listening event attended by experts, as well as a comeback performance on the stage of world tour, are all being advanced well for 2NE1’s comeback.

# Targeting Both Artistic Shock and Popularity

[스포츠서울=박효실 기자] Expectation for 2NE1’s comeback, leaving just one day now, is heightening as fans and experts who participated in 2NE1’s showcase premier “THE LISTENING” are raving about the upcoming new songs.

The showcase premier of 2NE1’s new songs on Feb 20 was successful, and the 2nd full album is geared unveil itself on Feb 26 at 12 am. In the afternoon of Feb 24, the reviews of the premier were posted on NAVER MUSIC.

The invitation to the premier was sent to a total of 21 guests, including selected ones from online music sites and 2NE1’s fan club, and experts from various fields. It served the purpose as receiving fair reviews of the songs which were produced after long and hard work. The 21 listeners, the first ones to hear the songs, gave fair and serious reviews of each track.

“COME BACK HOME,” one of the double title songs and of the same title as Seotaeji and Boys’ song, built much curiosity among the fans. This particular song received many good reviews about its melody and genre. Editor Kang Myung-suk of Ize Webzine said, “It’s not limited to one genre but cuts across reggae, dubstep, and hip hop. COME BACK HOME has much impact when it is interpreted in a hip hop way.” Hong Suk-woo, the editor of Spectrum, commented, “The beat and the rhythm enhance the music, and the melody is easy to follow. TEDDY, PK and DEE.P collaborated in such harmony. It is a song that symbolizes 2NE1’s identity.”

The other double-title song, “GOTTA BE YOU” was praised for its mainstream taste. Lee Sae-hoon from Media Bling said, “It’s very 2NE1 and is pop,” while Han Hyun-jin from the fan club said, “It is a dance-pop song which the beat and melody are easy to follow. I think this will be loved by the fans and the public for a long time.”

CL’s first-ever composed and written songs “CRUSH,” “IF I WERE YOU,” and “BABY I MISS YOU” received comments like, “A song of 2NE1’s identity,” “A unique sentimental song,” and “Urban style song that has an impressive vocal part.”

The 21 listeners emphasized that the album takes on a new musical challenge successfully, while maintaining 2NE1’s identity. 2NE1 has always broken away from the norm and tried different genres, and many eyes are on the divas to see what kind of sensation they will bring with their 2nd full album this time.

2NE1’s full album will be unveiled online on websites on 12 am of Feb 26 (0 hour of Feb 27). They will be performing their new songs for the first time when they kick off the 2nd World Tour “ALL OR NOTHING” on March 1 and 2 at Seoul Olympic Park SK Handball Arena.

[OSEN=손남원 기자] YANG HYUN SUK, the founder of YG, proudly said that 2NE1’s upcoming 2nd full album and the World Tour on March 1 and 2 are “best-ever album and a world-class concert.” Despite his busy schedule for being part of SBS’s K-Pop Star 3, he is deeply involved in 2NE1’s comeback album and concert rehearsal.

In a phone interview with OSEN on Feb 24, YANG said, “2NE1’s new album is the best ever. It’s meaningful that it is the first one with new songs in 6 years since their debut, but it is more special because the producers and 2NE1 are really satisfied with the work,” and added, “I don’t mean it will rank #1 on music charts when I say ‘best ever.’ Everyone at YG is satisfied, so for us personally, it is the best ever.”

2NE1 will reveal their 2nd full album online on Feb 27, and will hold an exclusive concert for 2 days on March 1 and 2. They already held a first Korean girl group World Tour “NEW EVOLUTION” in 2012, and the follow-up is to be hosted at Seoul Olympic Park SK Handball Arena under the title “AON.” This second World Tour will cut across 9 countries including Korea, Japan and China, and in 12 cities like Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore and Yokohama for 15 concerts. The Tour will attract 200,000 fans.

YANG said, “Before we showcase anything, YG needs to be satisfied with it. We cannot show something we are not happy with. In that sense, 2NE1’s comeback will be a great gift to the fans and to music experts. It’s not a creation of quick work—it took years and a lot of hard work to produce an album like this.”

2NE1, the first girl group to hold the second World Tour, will appear before the fans with more mature music. World-renown directors Travis Payne and Stacey Walker, who joined in the last World Tour, will again partake in the second one. Fans should be excited as the new songs will be performed at this latest World Tour.

2NE1 was spotlighted around the world last year as well, with their three new songs “FALLING IN LOVE,” “DO YOU LOVE ME,” and “MISSING YOU,” along with CL’s “THE BADDEST FEMALE.”

The teaser image is attracting a great attention after being disclosed on YG’s official blog (www.yg-life.com) on the 24 at 2pm. In the image, there is DARA wearing an impressive unbalance-cut blue hair and black beanie, with words “COME BACK HOME” written at the bottom. Notably, the black beanie that has letter “S” on it catches eyes, since it was the one Seo Taiji used to wear when Seotaiji & Boys was performing “COME BACK HOME”.

“COME BACK HOME” is one of the double title tracks of 2NE1’s upcoming second regular album. The song has been drawing a big attention since the title is the same with one of Seotaiji & Boys’ mega hits. However, unlike the song of Seotaiji & Boys, 2NE1’s “COME BACK HOME” has lyrics and melody that express the heart of a woman missing her lost love. It is a cross-over music in which elements of R&B, reggae, and hip-hop are mixed together.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 holds the first concert of their second world tour “ALL OR NOTHING” on March 1 and 2 at Olympic Park’s SK Handball Hall located in Seoul, after releasing the second regular album on the 26 at 12am. [마이데일리 = 최지예 기자] Girl group 2NE1 (CL, MINZY, BOM, and DARA) talked about the producing capabilities of the team’s leader CL.

2NE1 had an open rehearsal for their second world tour “ALL OR NOTHING” and held a press meeting about the release of their second regular album on the 20 at 3pm at KINTEX located in Ilsan, the city of Goyang.

At the meeting, MINZY said, “I was really impressed by CL’s songs. Even though we have been so busy recently with practice, CL has been making time to write her own songs and record them. Her songs are very creative, so I thought they were really awesome”.

Then, DARA took the turn to compliment CL by saying, “CL has written total three songs. All those three songs are totally different, so I also thought that the songs are so novel and original. We have been working only with TEDDY for every album. But this time, CL, who knows very well about us, created our own color. I even thought that I heard my real voice for the first time in six years, while recording those songs. It was so much fun. When I first heard “CRUSH”, I thought it was written by a foreign songwriter. Then, CL said she made it”.

CL responded, “Those three songs were actually not created for the new album. I didn’t imagine that 2NE1 would sing the songs all together. When I’m bored, I come up with lots of inspirations. One day, I was just at home and suddenly, I wanted to say lots of stories. Plus, I thought ‘what would it be like if I say this’ or ‘what about talking about this’. So, I wrote the songs just personally. Notably, I have never imagined I could ever write lyrics in Korean. First, I began by making an English demo. It has been only a few months since I began writing songs and now I have come to have this good opportunity naturally, in a very short period of time. I’m really grateful about it and I look forward to the result. But, at the same time, I’m concerned, too”.

CL made the people at the meeting laugh by answering “Each of the songs is unique and since all of them are like my own children, I can’t pick only one”, to a request to pick the song that she likes the most among the three.

BOM added, “There is a song named ‘BABY I MISS YOU’ among CL’s three songs. I liked the song so much that I insisted I sing the song alone. When I first heard that CL was writing songs, I was just like ‘Oh, are you?’ I didn’t imagine CL would write such good songs. I think the songs will live up to your expectations. Since the songs were written by CL, I received her direction for my vocal and I was scolded a lot while recording. At those parts, my vocal stands out”.

Lastly, CL talked about the meaning of the new album, “Our second regular album is full of new songs. We expressed every genre we can try and every emotion that we have”.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 begins their second world tour on March 1 and 2 at Olympic Park SK Handball Hall located in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul. The tour begins in Korea and then goes on to hold total 15 concerts in 12 cities in nine countries including Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

At a rehearsal press conference for 2NE1’s 2nd World Tour “AON (ALL OR NOTHING)” held in 9A Hall Exhibition 2 of Ilsan Kintex on Feb 20, CL said, “We put much thought into filling this Tour with everything that women can express.”

She added, “We designed our concert around that theme. Space is non-human and surreal. We wanted to make the whole concert experience a surreal one.”

On the title “ALL OR NOTHING,” she said, “We named it this way because this is our first show in a long time with a full album, so we want to show everything we have.”

2NE1 already has a record of successfully holding Korea’s first-ever girl group World Tour in 2012 under the title “NEW EVOLUTION”. In March 1 and 2 they are set to kick off their second one “AON” at Seoul Songpagu Olympic Park SK Handball Arena. They will hold 15 concerts in 12 cities, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Yokohama, in 9 countries including Korea, Japan, and China. They will attract 200,000 fans.

Fans have high expectations as 2NE1 unveiled 3 songs “FALLING IN LOVE,” “DO YOU LOVE ME,” and “MISSING YOU,” along with CL’s “THE BADDEST FEMALE”. Travis Payne partook in the press conference of ‘ALL OR NOTHING’ at Ilsan Kintex Exhibition Hall 9A on Feb 20, of which is about 2NE1’s 2nd World Tour.

Payne commented, “BOM is like a lovely fairy, while CL is a lovely hard-worker.” He added, “MINZY is an amazing dancer who knows how to enjoy music.” About DARA, he said she is a “funky angel.”

Payne extolled the girl group by saying, “The four combined makes them powerful musicians. I worked with many female groups in the past, but compared to others, all members of 2NE1 have the advantages to become artists.”

Payne also worked with G-DRAGON on his World Tour “ONE OF A KIND” and with other world pop stars like Michael Jackson.

2NE1 is set to kick off their 2nd World Tour next month, touring around 9 countries including Korea, Japan, and China across 12 cities to hold 15 concerts. The first ones begin on March 1 and 2 at Seoul Songpagu Olympic Park SK Handball Arena.

So, continuing with the news on 2NE1.

We have urgently postponed 2NE1’s 2nd album release date from the original schedule of 12am on February 24th to 12am on February 26th <which is 0 hour of February 27th>. The offline album will be released on March 7th as planned.

The reason for the urgent change of date is to release the album on a more special day instead, as CL’s birthday falls on February 26th, especially because whopping three songs composed and written by CL for the first time are included in the 2nd album.

I ask for your generosity and understanding for the change.

Details on 2NE1’s titles song?

As this is the first full album released for the first time after several years, we are ambitious to showcase as many songs as we can, but since we are at a point where careful selection and focus are required, we chose two songs for double title songs.

2NE1’s first title song is “COME BACK HOME.” 
Many of you would be reminded of the mega-hit “COME BACK HOME” released by Seotaeji and Boys in 1995, but 2NE1’s upcoming track is a completely different, filled with melody and lyrics about yearning for the long-gone lover.

This is a joint work of YG’s main producer TEDDY and other producers, which encompasses a crossover mixture of R&B, reggae and hip-hop. The noteworthy feature of the 2nd album is the unplugged version of “COME BACK HOME”

The two different versions are greatly different from each other, so we produced two music videos for both songs, which will be released on February 28th simultaneously.

The second title song “GOTTA BE YOU”
A joint work by YG’s producers TEDDY and PK, is a fast-paced song that leaves an impact through BOM’s powerful cry of “Gotta Be You.”

We made the decision to make this the second title song as it has an impression of mainstream taste.

How many music videos will be produced for the 2nd album?

A total of four music videos will be showcased this time.

As mentioned earlier, the two versions of “COME BACK HOME” music videos will be released simultaneously on February 28th, and the other double title song “GOTTA BE YOU” will come next, and the music video of a song titled “HAPPY” filmed in the U.S. will follow.

The track list of 2NE1’s 2nd album will be released tomorrow at 10pm.
