2NE1 sing unplugged version of ‘Come Back Home’ for first time on ‘Sketchbook’

After revealing weeks ago that 2NE1 leader CL visited the emergency room during a recording of ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook,’ the special episode finally aired in Korea on May 23 with the theme: using music to console people who were having a difficult time, especially in light of the tragic Sewol ferry accident.

The group, for the first time ever, performed the unplugged version of their last title track, “Come Back Home.”  The girls wore all black and pinned the yellow ribbon, symbolic of hope during the tragedy, onto their chest as they lent their voices to this moving rendition.

They also sang “Missing You” as requested by the audience, another good and poignant choice.  Despite having a sore throat on this day, CL still showed passion as she sang her heart out.

Our girls speaking in English! ❤ Dara consistently saying that her favorite song is “Good To You” because “I can really relate to the lyrics. It’s about a good girl falling in love with a bad boy. I think it’s my story.” OMG Dara, who is that bad boy, we’ll kick his ass. XDDD Kekeke.. XD

CL said, “You might think it’s a bit weird, but we do listen to our music. Was that embarrassing? Dara is a 2NE1 fan.” So cute! Yeah, Dara is 2NE1’s number one fan, supporting their music and listening to it. In her car on 2NE1 TV before, 2NE1’s music is always blasting out from her stereo.. ❤

Article: Manila Standard Today ~ “2NE1 Comes Home”

2NE1 comes home

d81242018

It was a scorching night and fans who lined up early at the SM Mall of Asia Arena were sweating buckets. But the summer heat did not stop Filipino Blackjacks from showing their support for their Korean idols. Blackjacks are fans of the Korean girl group 2NE1 and they trooped in force to the venue in Pasay City last May 17, Saturday, to witness the Manila leg of the group’s All or Nothing World Tour.

The concert was a momentous occasion for the Blackjacks in general and the Filipino Blackjacks in particular. The concert coincided with the group’s fifth anniversary and was eyed as a double celebration of sorts as it signified a homecoming for Sandara Park as well.

Park, arguably one of the more popular members of 2NE1, started her showbiz career in the Philippines and enjoyed a massive fan base that carried over when she joined 2NE1.

The event was also a fulfilment of a promise Dara, as she is now called, made when the group performed years ago to come back to Manila for a full-length concert.

With Park were group leader Lee Chaerin or CL, Kong Minji or simply Minzy, and Park Bom.

At a press conference held the day before the concert, the girls promised to give their fans a show.

And that’s what they did! The production was impressive, with amazing stages, flashing lights, jumbo LED screens, movable scaffoldings and platforms (even a few fireworks in between) providing the backdrop for the girls’ high octane performances.

Showtime!

CL, Dara, Bom, and Minzy emerged on stage wearing their signature flashy outfits and immediately revved up the crowd. They followed this up with “Fire,” “Clap Your Hands,” “Pretty Boy,” and “Don’t Stop the Music.”

The group left the stage but shortly came back hoisted up by individual white cloth swings, singing their haunting ballad, “Missing You.” The girls then alighted from their swings and sat on a faux rock formation as they sang more of their slow songs such as “If I Were You,” the acoustic version of “Come Back Home” and “Ugly” to complete the feel-good set.

After being serenaded, the fans were treated to a surprise appearance by actors Sam Milby, Jason Abalos, Ram of G-Force and Joross Gamboa who were called by Dara to sit onstage and enjoy the lap dance the girls performed while singing “I Love You.” The boys were paired with each member—Dara with Sam, CL with Ram, Bom with Joross, and Minzy with Jason.

Living up to her label as the Queen of Swag, CL then performed a mashup of her self-composed songs “The Baddest Female” and “MTBD (Menbung).”

Homecoming

It was refreshing to hear Dara speak Filipino so fluently. She talked to fans in Filipino and almost forgot that she was with her group members who could not understand the language. Despite the language barrier, the other three members happily sang and danced to Dara’s Tagalog novelty song “In or Out” which she made popular 10 years ago while in the Philippines. The song is based on her Star Circle Quest stint. Additionally, Dara made CL, Bom, and Minzy do Vice Ganda’s “Boom Panes” dance.

During the encore, the girls took a moment to bring out some cake given by the fans and to acknowledge the other members of the team. This included their dancers, band and managers. CL said the Philippines is Dara’s hometown and she wished it was hers, too. The fans sang happy birthday and everybody joined in the party. The group thanked the fans for their continued support. Each one of them yelled “Mahal ko kayo! (I love you!)”

Winner debut

Another reason why young fans flocked the venue was because members of YG entertainment’s newest boy group, Winner, were the special guests in the concert. Kang Seung Yoon, Song Minho, Nam Taehyun, Kim Jinwoo, and Lee Seung Hoon sang “Just Another Boy” and “Go Up.” The boys were part of Team A and are the winners in the YG Entertainment reality show Who is Next: Win, thus, their name.

Other songs performed were “Gotta Be You,” “Do You Love Me,” “Scream,” “I Am The Best,” “I Don’t Care,” “Come Back Home” both acoustic and dance versions and “Go Away.”

The show closed in a rain of glittering gold streamers.

Dara flew in two days earlier than the other members of 2NE1 for show appearances on ABS-CBN, her former network. She appeared in Abunda and Aquino Tonight and Gandang Gabi Vice and entered the Pinoy Big Brother House.

On Friday, May 18, 2NE1 held an open press conference in Shangri-la Mall in Mandaluyong that was attended by hundreds of fans.

2NE1 All or Nothing World Tour was produced by Pulp Live World Productions and supported by the Korean Tourism Organization, Shangri-la Edsa, SM Malls and Solaire Resort and Casino.

CONCERT REVIEW: A big ‘scream’ for 2NE1

10384477_660030884046109_2213934216720754559_n

MANILA, Philippines – There was a sea of people outside the SM Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday afternoon and Mr. Taxi Driver, who was passing by, was baffled by the commotion. Is there a concert by Rihanna? Beyoncé? Or Katy Perry? Nope, it turned out that the people were fans and supporters of one of the top girl groups in Korea — 2NE1 (pronounced “twenty one” or “to anyone.”)

Filipino Blackjacks (the name of 2NE1’s fans club) trooped to the arena to watch the one-night-only Manila leg of the group’s All or Nothing concert.

What made 2NE1 extra special to Filipinos is Sandara Park, one of the four members of the group.

1901193_660030640712800_6388688737405609122_n

Sandara made a mark in local showbiz in 2004 when she won second runner-up in the ABS-CBN talent search show Star Circle Quest, endearing herself to the Filipino public as the Korean with a Pinoy heart. During her brief career in the Philippines, Sandara starred in a couple of movies and released an album. But after her popularity fizzled out in 2007, Sandara decided to go back to Korea to join 2NE1, a girl group in the mold of Destiny’s Child or Spice Girls with a touch of Nicki Minaj.

In 2009, 2NE1 released its debut single Fire which became the best-selling single in South Korea with 7,000,000 digital sales. It was followed by hit after hit — I Don’t Care, Go Away, Lonely and I Am The Best, chart-toppers that catapulted the group to fame all over Asia.

Last February, 2NE1 released its second Korean studio album Crush, which sold over 4.2 million digital album sales — making it the best-selling digital album of 2014 so far — and peaked at South Korea’s Gaon Music charts and US Billboard charts.

Despite her popularity and stature today, Sandara said she has never forgotten her fans here and has always considered Manila her second home.

At 2NE1’s concert last Saturday, Sandara showed her love for her fans when she introduced segments that delighted the sold-out crowd.

Sandara invited her friends in local showbiz, Sam Milby, Jason Abalos, Joross Gamboa and Ram from G-Force for a special number, which got the crowd crazy.

At the chorus of the 2NE1 song I Love You, the hunks sat in front of the stage while the ladies did a sexy lap dance.

Sandara sat on Sam’s lap and leaned close to his face while the other girls gyrated in front of the boys. The performance drew the loudest screams from the audience.

During the encore, Sandara, together with Minzy and Bom, danced and sang her old Tagalog hit In or Out. She also let Bom sang the Tagalog lines from the song, which the latter delivered flawlessly.

During the almost three-hour show, the arena held up impressively with the elaborate video screens, flame bursts, fireworks, laser lights, Harley motorcycles, hyperactive back-up dancers and a catwalk-ready stage that traversed the whole arena. The girls incessantly exhorted the crowd to party as they sang, stepped and smiled through every choreographed moment without missing a cue.

In Fire, Gotta Be You, Do You Love Me, Scream and I Am The Best, the girls sang and danced like there was no tomorrow.

A member who clearly stood out and sought the spotlight aggressively was CL (a.k.a Chaelin Lee).

CL was a spark plug, igniting the stage with her booming voice and energetic dance moves.

During her solo turn where she performed Baddest Female, CL rapped with an attitude and sang with swagger, further heating up the crowd.

At the start of the concert, it was clear that Minzy and CL are the singers in the group.

There were times when Bom and Sandara’s voices shook as they sang the high notes in 2NE1’s soaring ballad Ugly. But what they lacked in vocals, they made up with their dancing and good looks. Bom and Sandara are eye candies and the prettiest in the group.

Near the end of the concert, the 2NE1 girls thanked their Filipino fans for a memorable concert.

Sandara was solicitous towards her Pinoy fans, telling them: “Lagi ko sinasabi sa kanila na maganda dito sa Pilipinas dahil ang mga Pilipino mababait at ang pagkain masarap.”

The girls ended the concert with a promise to come back.

2NE1’s All Or Nothing World Tour in Manila was organized by PULP LIVE WORLD.
