[STARCAST] “Missing You ~ 2013″…2NE1’s last diary

153635484_1

2013, there is one day left.

Missing you~ missing you~ miss~ing you~

Maybe! Would there be any other group like 2NE1 that was active in 2013 and who will miss 2013? After the leader CL started off with her solo song ‘The Baddest Female’ in last May, 2NE1 was restless until December.

The total of three songs ‘Falling in love’, ‘ Do you love me’, ‘Missing You‘ has dominated the music site and Bom presented a carol song with YG singer Lee Hi.

A one busy year. In what way would 2NE1 remember the year 2013? We were curious about the things they laughed, cried, sad and felt not enough about. It is the so-called ‘2013, missing you’.

153635596_2

☞ First, we asked them the things they were most happy about. The answers of the four members CL, Minzy, Bom and Dara were all same. They were most happy when they were actively promoting after releasing the new song. They were most happy when they presented a new song to fans and they were happy because they were loved.

Dara:  We promoted the songs ‘Falling in love’, ‘Do you love me’ and ‘Missing You’ this year. When each of the songs came into being and when each was released, I was so happy.

CL: I was happy when I was promoting the song ‘The Baddest Female’. I stood on the solo stage for the first time after 4 years since the debut. Just that fact alone was meaningful to me.

Minzy: I was happy when I saw the fans when I was on the stage. We met after preparing for a long time. Even though the promotion activity was short, I have to say that I was happy when I saw the fans in such a long time while I was up on the stage.

☞ Not all moments can be happy. When would be the times when they were sad personally? They each had different answers. There was a member who talked about the emotions they felt when they were on the stage and there was a member who talked about personal experiences. Also, they talked about the sadness coming from responsibilities.

CL:  I was most sad when performing the second stage of ‘Missing You’ (SBS-TV ‘Popular Music’ Comeback stage). It was our first comeback stage on the music broadcast show in Korea. When I sang the ballad song in such a long time, something was very sad and I was absorbed into emotions when I thought of the lyrics…. Anyhow, it was something like that.

Minzy: I am sad because we did not get to release a proper regular album this year. We were supposed to present it this year by working hard and preparing it fast, and that was so sad.

Dara: I was sad when my hair got too bad. I gave changes restlessly from gold, pink and to silver this year so my hair was too ruined. All the hair was cut off. I am sad because I miss my hair. For that reason, there is a sad story that I had to wear a hat in ‘Missing You’~~

☞ What kind of moments would have been most meaningful to 2NE1? Dara and Bom said it was every moment. It means that they have tried that hard and lived intensely. At times, they put in their hearts the special memory of the moment when they met with the fans.

Bom: Working hard (All the activities). That is most meaningful.

Dara: I think the moment when members gather and record the song and preparing for a new performance is always meaningful. Especially, I like who we are and what we are doing now recently. Please be sure to check the achievements of this very moment next year.

CL: I remember the moment when the fan meeting was held for the first time. It was the first fan meeting after making the debut. This time, we met with the fans in Japan but I hope to meet fans in Korea myself in the upcoming New Year.

☞ However, not everything can turn out good. The truth is, there were things that they felt not enough about. First, the promotion period was shorter than expected. There was also no concert. The fact that they did not get to release the proper and regular album was something that all members felt not enough about.

Minzy: I feel sad that I did not get to see you guys (fans) often due to a short promotion period.

Bom: Yes. There might be lots of things but I feel sad that 2NE1’s (Regular• Mini) album was not released. Personally, I also feel sad that I did not get to release a solo album.

Dara: The hot concert in the middle of the summer that took place 2 years in a row did not happen in 2013. I felt so sad about it. But, do not worry. It will begin in March of 2014. 2NE1’s 2014 World Tour.

153719587_11

☞ Girl group fashion star. When talking about 2NE1, fashion cannot be left out. For every stage, they showed a unique style that is to the different level compared to other girl groups. Then, what would be the best style that members have picked? Dara gave an answer first.

Dara: I remember the broad hat style. The feeling of putting on that hat on a blonde gold hair, I know what that is like~. It is unique but it can show the female charm at the same time, so I liked it. Fascinatingly, that hat matched well with all kinds of outfits.

Minzy: For me, there as a time when I wore a red cheetah patterned knit sweater out of the outfits in ‘Missing You’. I think it was simply the style that matched with me the most.

CL: I will pick the outfit from ‘The Baddest Female’. You guys remember the white swimming suit style that I wore on ‘Popular Music’ right? It was unconventional but it is memorable as it was an outfit that has charisma and is unique.

☞ In this year, 2NE1 met lots of people. Who would be the most memorable person? Dara said “I met too many people and said bye to too many people. The question is too difficult and hesitated to give an answer, but the rest of the members shared stories about their special someone that they remember.

Minzy: I have in my memory people who always cheer for me, the fans.

Bom: If I were to pick just one, I will choose Lee Hi. We sang a Christmas carol together. But, I think she is someone who is so adorable and nice.

CL: For me, of course it is Stevie Wonder. We met in the stage of ‘MAMA’. Just the fact that I was able to be on the same stage with the king of pop was such a big honor.

☞ We also asked about the moment that they can never forget. The moment that they cannot forget this year was all different. There was a member who talked about personal experiences and there was a member who talked about the memories felt while promoting. Stevie Wonder was mentioned once again. It was a double crown.

CL: I would have to answer it as the day that I met Stevie Wonder to this question also.

Minzy: I think it was the time when I volunteered with Sean. I think I cannot forget the moment when I took care of the kids when I visited Holt Children Welfare Center.

Bom: For me, it was holding a fan meeting for the first time in Japan and getting the award with ‘Missing You’.

Dara: It is almost the same for me too. The time when we were promoting ‘Missing You‘ is an unforgettable moment. We got awards few times and I cannot forget the stage that the fans voluntarily sang along altogether, no, I do not want to forget.

☞ Finally, the question 10. It is the question about things they are going to miss after this year passes. In one word, it is ‘2013 Missing You’ that 2NE1 shares. Missing you, missing you, what do you miss?

CL: It is a secret ^^

Minzy: I will miss 20 year old Minzy. It is the first year that I greeted as an adult and it is the moment that will now never come back.

Dara•Bom: I think it would be every single moment. If this year passes, I think I am going to miss all the moments in this year. Since, I can never go back, wouldn’t that be why every single moment is so valuable?

Video/Interview: 2NE1 Sandara Park’s Feature/Interview on Philippine Show “Matanglawin”

Dara speaking in Tagalog! It’s been said that she requested that the interview be done in Tagalog. Again, I think it’s endearing that Dara never forgot the Philippines’ mother tongue. She said she misses her friends in the Philippines and that it’s a hard process to becoming a KPop star. ^^

2NE1 Sandara Park’s Feature/Interview on Philippine Show “Matanglawin”

MANILA — Korean pop star Sandara Park of the girl group 2NE1 admitted that she has a crush on actor John Lloyd Cruz.

On Sunday’s episode of “Matanglawin“, “Maria Mercedes” Jessy Mendiola talked to Park about her experiences as a K-Pop star, her activities and what she misses most about the Philippines.

When asked who her Filipino crush is, Park hesitated before admitting that she likes Cruz.

Mendiola and Park also performed each other’s signature dance moves.

Park’s group, 2NE1, will be having a concert in the Philippines next year.

Article/Interview: There’s A Difference Between Genuine And Fake Songs

2NE1: “There’s A Difference Between Genuine And Fake Songs”

2ne1

[텐아시아 = 박수정 기자] YG’s girl group 2NE1 has always been the strong one. In a relatively slow-tempo songs ‘Fire’, ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘It Hurts’ and ‘Lonely’, they still never let go of the powerful vocals and their provocative appearances. CL, with her solo song ‘The Baddest Female’ released this year, showed the public the epitome of ‘powerful’. But in winter 2013, the strong group returned with a very unexpected sentimental ballad ‘Missing You’. If the previous songs were known for their strength in their voices, ‘Missing You’ is one with loose vocals. That power is now instead replaced with much genuine emotions. All 2NE1 members unanimously said that they thought of each other when they recorded this song. In the introductory part of the song, the four create a perfect harmony, and this is a clear testament to their strong bond. Just like how CL once commented, “There’s a difference between genuine and fake songs”. 2NE1 seemed like they took a step forward in making their songs evermore genuine and real. 2NE1, however, says they want to return to that “strong girl” image, and this makes us want to know even more about what they are like when they actually are strong. At a restaurant located in Mopogu Dongyo-dong in Seoul, on Nov 25, we delved into their stories.

2ne1 - 2

The key to ‘Missing You’ is the lyrics.”

Q. What does it feel like to make a comeback?

CL : Our original plan was to release a single every month, but we became more ambitious and wanted to return with a full album. That was the reason for delay. The current weather and the timing itself were just perfect to release the song ‘Missing You’, and that’s why we made a comeback. We are devoting much of our time in the preparation of the full album.

Q. You unveiled your first performance of ‘Missing You’ at the 2013 Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA) just recently. How did that feel?

CL : We actually feel some level of regret. We were not part of the program originally, and the decision was made at the last minute. So we didn’t even get a week to prepare for it. Staffers of MAMA also told us that it was a shame we could not get more time to prepare, because all the equipment were already transported to Hong Kong at the time. It’s a shame that there was not enough time for preparation. But we are going to show many more performances, so we will do our best from now on.”

Q. It seems like that the latest songs puts its focus more on the voices than the performance.

CL : The key to ‘Missing You’ is the lyrics. It’s not simply a song between an ordinary man and woman, but it’s something bigger—something that can resonate to everyone who has or had been in love. Perhaps an emotion you feel when you’re graduating. To explain it easier, the verse focuses on someone new, while the hook and the bridge parts are a longing for the person who left. People might find it complicated as the song holds two different stories. But this is not just a love story between a man and a woman, but it’s a love story of many people, a story to which many people can relate. We found out later that all of us thought of each other when recording the song. At the time we didn’t even tell each other that. I remembered the time when 2NE1 was yet to be formed, and also recalled the time when I encountered new people in life. That’s the feeling I thought of when I sang the song.

Q. Is that really how all of you felt?

DARA : Yes, and we were all surprised. We just found out about it recently when the topic was brought up and we grew fond of each other even more.
CL : Some think we were about to be broken up when we said this. (laughter) But that’s not it. We had time to think about what’s happening around us more when we were on the tour. We appreciated every moment, and every second became a memory. We thought to ourselves that we would produce something that includes not just ourselves but also everyone around us. That made us become closer to each other. It has been 5 years since our debut, but the actual time we spent together would add up to about 7 to 8 years, including the time we were being trained. So many people walked into our lives until now, including the staff members who worked with us. That reminded me of love much bigger than I ever knew, so I wanted to include that feeling in ‘Missing You’.

Q. So you had a chance to think about things more when you were on World Tour. Any special reason to that?

CL : We did not have a day to ourselves since we made a debut. But when we are on a World Tour, we get free time before and after the concert, so we get to meet our new fans, eat new food, and learn about new cultures. We travelled around the world like we were four friends on a trip, so we got more time to ourselves. We decided that we will become stronger, and that was the reason for us to think about what’s happening around us.

Q. What was the most memorable moment?

CL : Just having so many people in different countries gather at one venue to see us perform was pure happiness. And it is quite rare to have the opportunity to travel around so many countries in such a short period of time. I thought, this would be why people who have done music for a long time continue to carry out this particular career.

Q. What are the small but memorable moments amongst yourselves from the World Tour?

DARA : They are actually very small things. If we think the airplane meals are good, then we wake each other up so we can all taste it (laughter). We do the same when the food is not good. Something small like that.
CL : Actually me and BOM are the types who like to stay in the room. DARA loves going to Korean restaurants all over the world, and going on the big Ferris wheel. BOM and I are too lazy to do them, but when we actually do what DARA does, they all end up as good memories for us. It makes me feel good that I would not have done it if it wasn’t for DARA. (laughter)

Q. Then what would be the most difficult times?

DARA : Food… (laughter) When we went to places where we were not so used to the food, then we would starve and that was hard. But we had a great time everywhere.

maknaes

I was the one who suggested going nude”

Q. MINZY, don’t people tell you that you became even more beautiful than before?

MINZY : I thought I showed a lot of the pretty side in ‘Falling in Love’ and ‘Do You Love Me’, but I’m guessing it did not work? (laughter) I get that comment a lot for the latest song. But I have been thinking a lot about how to make myself portrayed as a grown-up woman in this one, because I had always been a unisex or masculine type. People around me told me that beauty comes from seeing beautiful things, listening to pretty things and eating good things. So I really tried hard doing all those. And I think the beauty came quite naturally.

Q. What do you, fellow members, think?

BOM : I think she lost a lot of weight, and she became very feminine.
CL : I think the entire aura, or the ambience, of MINZY changed. We have been training since we were little, and we basically gave up our teenage hood. She always had to act like adults and never complained, so I felt bad for her at times. She was forced to mature faster and grow up faster. But I think right now, she has actually matured. She was already mature compared to her friends of same age, but I think her entire aura has gone through a transformation.

Q. We cannot not talk about CL’s nudity in the music video. What’s the story behind it?

CL : The last slow song was ‘It Hurts’, but we still wanted to keep our strong image. The theme for ‘It Hurts’ was Halloween, while ‘Lonely’ was powerful girls. But when I listened to ‘Missing You’, I felt like letting go of all of them. I felt like no outfits suited the song. And all I could think of was something very raw. So I suggested to the director why not go nude. If somebody had told me to do so, I would have never done it. But it was my own inspiration and I thought it went quite well with the song. So there was no discomfort in doing it and the shooting went well.

Q. What did other members think of it?

BOM : At first, she suggested we all go nude, and film a scene where we are all leaning on each other. I was so shocked. (laughter) We didn’t think it was a good idea, so she decided to do it alone. DARA was the one most opposed to the idea.
DARA : I didn’t think it would do us good, so I opposed.
MINZY : I was extremely surprised. I thought it was awesome that she could do something like that for the video. I admired her for looking at it in an artistic perspective. I didn’t go for it because… I’m the youngest in the group.

Q. How did it feel to see the completed scene?

DARA : I was really curious to see how it went, and the final work was just beautiful. I didn’t think she would actually do it, and I was deeply impressed.
BOM : I was actually at the filming site. CL was sitting alone and people crowded behind the camera and it was just awesome.
CL :  I hope people see it as a way to express the music rather than just being naked. The director did an excellent job capturing that essence and it turned out to be very artistic and I am so grateful. I think I would like it when I watch it again when I grow old.

Q. How did your boss, Yang Hyun Suk, react to the idea of nudity?

CL : He was not the only one who was concerned about the nudity. It was something like, “She says she wants to do it so should let her, but boy this is worrying.” (laughter) Male artists and staffers were especially worried. They never said a word until now, but after the video was released, they commented, “I am so glad. I was really worried but the video is nothing like nude, but it is much more like art.” Well, I am not sure if ‘not looking provocative’ is a compliment. (laughter) It’s not provoking or sexy at all, is it? That was a bit of a concern. (laughter)

Q. What does the tattoo say, the one we see when you are sitting in the bathtub?

CL : It says ‘FAITH’. It is my other English name that I do not use much. I put on the tattoo for the video because I thought the word resonated with the lyrics and ambience o the song.
DARA : She drew it in with a marker… (laughter)
CL : Not true! (laughter)

Q. Did you read the Billboard article that extols CL’s acting in nudity?

CL :  I actually don’t keep up with those things. I don’t like being swayed by what other people say. I did hear about the Billboard article, and it felt really good. It felt nice because they could have shed light on it from a negative perspective, but they didn’t and it was nice.

Q. CL’s nudity was inspired by the song. Is there anything other members suggested, after receiving inspiration from the song?

DARA: To maximize the sentiments embraced by ‘Missing You’, I tried to convey the genuine feelings through my facial expression, rather than over-the-top acting. I didn’t think that we had to do sad faces on purpose, but those emotions came to us quite naturally.
BOM: I actually did cry. Right now they are playing the song here (where the interview is taking place), and I can feel tears welling up.

Q. What does the man with a mask symbolize in the music video?

CL : He is like a ghost. It’s sort of like an imaginary person. The reason he is wearing mask is because we wanted the viewers to imagine for themselves. The performer is an expert of modern dance, and he expressed the sentiment perfectly. Working with a modern dancer is a rare opportunity, and it was a fun experience for us.

“We want to show our powerful sides again”

Q. You kick off World Tour in March. Anything special you will be showcasing?

CL :
We are in the middle of the preparation for our full album. In the last tour, we worked hard for the concerts and we did amazing collaboration work with remarkable artists. But it was a shame that we did not get to release an album back then, so we did the tour with nothing much special in it. That kept bugging us, so we wanted to do the concert with a full album this time and it is our hope to deliver more dynamic and new performances to our fans.

Q. YG’s artists’ debut or comeback overlapped quite a lot this year. What were the good and the bad?

CL : There was nothing bad about it. Our promotions overlapped with that of TAEYANG but we are so close it does not really matter. We did not appear on TV much, so we don’t know many celebrities, so it was awesome bumping into TAEYANG at broadcasting studios.
DARA : Overlapping is actually really good. Being busy is good. It’s physically demanding and we’re always sleep-deficient, but it makes us feel like we are alive.

Q. Would love to see the full album soon. When is the release date?

CL : There are often times when we announce the album release date in advance, and then the date gets delayed or cancelled so it’s better that I do not reveal the exact date. But please note that we are in the middle of preparing for it. We had been working on it for the last 2 years, so there are many good songs in it. We are being really ambitious, because we want to show a more diversified music and something very solid and sound.

Q. TAEYANG apparently was in agony because he wanted to show his album sooner as he worked on it for 3 years. What about you?

CL : It’s sometimes suffocating because we think too much about revealing new songs. But we are hanging in there with the thought that we will unveil something that we are fully satisfied with.

Q. What would be the ‘theme’ or ‘image’ of the next full album?

CL : We want to go back to being ‘powerful’. We are itching to return to our strong selves. I think we can neutralize this by singing ‘Missing You’ (laughter). I hope we can unveil the full album before we kick off World Tour.

Q. Is there a goal you have in mind with ‘Missing You’?

CL : Our goal is to have many people listen to our song. I think the latest song resonates with a lot of people, so I hope many will listen to the song. At first people might find it difficult to understand the song, but I think it will relate to people in different age groups in different ways. If we rank #1, we don’t simply want this to be a meaningless #1, but something that can influence and inspire many out there.

Q. What would be the part that people should not miss when listening to ‘Missing You’?

BOM : This is a song that tells our genuine emotions. Beside its sentimental melody, the part that goes “The love of my young days is ending like this” reminded me of graduation, and it made me cry every time I went into record the song. Actually, I don’t cry that often in front of Teddy (who wrote and composed ‘Missing You’), but I cried so much recording this one that it surprised him. That is the kind of emotion that is included in the song. I hope you can sense these feelings, too!
CL : There are many who think that we are trying something completely new with ‘Missing You’. It could be because we released songs like ‘It Hurts’ or ‘Lonely’ since our debut, but I would like to think that we tried something we can do well, instead of trying something entirely new. We had much faith in ‘Missing You’ and we grew so fond of the song, so we wanted many people to listen to it.
MINZY : There were times when I could not fully convey the meaning or feelings of the song because I was too young to know how they felt. But when I look back, I got time to think about my fellow members and the fans, and I learned to express my emotions with my voice, with much control.
CL : There is a difference between genuine and fake songs. For example, if MINZY only thought of ‘Missing You’ as a love song between a man and a woman, then it would not be real because she has never been in a relationship yet. But she thought about us when singing it, she got the inspiration from the bond we share, so it came true to her and she was able to convey her real feelings.

 Q. Last question. Today (Nov 25) Teddy officially announced that he is in a relationship with Han Ye Seul. What did you think of that?

CL : Many celebrities make their relationships public and I so wish I was one of them. (laughter) The ‘dating ban’ at the agency is lifted, and yet I am not in a relationship. I would love to be in one. I promise I will let you know when I am. (laughter)

2NE1 revealed their affection for their company’s junior, WINNER.

2NE1 (CL, Park Bom, Sandara Park, Gong Minji) mentioned YG’s new rookie group, WINNER (Kang Seungyoon, Song Minho, Nam Taehyun, Kim Jinwoo, Lee Seunghoon) during an interview on November 25th at a restaurant in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

WINNER took the final victory last October 25th at the Olympic Stadium located in Songpa-gu, Seoul where they participated in the final battle of WIN: WHO IS NEXT with Team B.  With this, WINNER has been chosen as the new YG boy group, 8 years after BIG BANG.

CL who recently watched over her juniors revealed, “I think the results came out as I expected.  I’m really happy to have juniors in our company.  That’s why I gathered the juniors and bought them dinner not too long ago.  The menu was Kalbi.”  She began, “At first I thought ‘what would be different if we had new juniors’.  But now, I’m actually very happy to have them with us.  In the beginning, when Lee Hi became my junior, I really wanted to help her as much as I could when we were on stage together.”

About this CL continued, “Dara-unnie is also especially happy to have younger male juniors.”  Sandara Parkreplied, “Since we’re family members, even so, they really caught my attention.  Those kids’ eyes are always sparkling, you know.”  Dara expressed her thoughts, “It’s really cute when they have the attitude, ‘2NE1 seniors, please teach us well.’  I’m going to watch over them in the future and I’m looking forward to taking care of them as well.  When we debuted as well, our seniors took great care of us too.”

Park Bom added, “They’re really great and follow their seniors very well.  All the noonas love it. (Laughs)” CLcontinued, “Another great thing is that they’re in the same age group as 2NE1′s maknae, Gong Minji.”  She adds, “Since Minzy started her idol activities at a very young age, she wasn’t able to meet a lot of friends even though she wanted to because of how busy we were.  I think this is a great chance for her to meet and get closer as friends to juniors who are the same age as her.  I hope they become closer in the future.”

CL said, “We encouraged them right away and went up on the stage with them when the results that Team A won during WIN’s final battle.  I personally told Team B, ‘Rather think of this as a great opportunity for you to do well.'”  She continued, “Because they can still prepare and show a stronger stage in front of the fans and that this isn’t the end of their path.  They’ll be able to debut someday and in any case, it’s advantageous for them to be able to use this time and practice more.  I said these words to my juniors.”

She also revealed the advice she gave to WINNERCL explained, “To my juniors who have done well, gather up your feelings and prepare to run.  Honestly, it’s more important to show them actions instead of words.  The best example is for them to put all their sincerity into their music and show us a great stage.”

Park Bom revealed about WIN’s results, “The team that my heart was going towards and the team I thought was going to win was different.  My heart was going towards Team A but in my head, I thought the winning team could be Team B.  I felt that they did a bit better. However, I’m really happy that Team A was chosen as the WINNER, too.”

Meanwhile, 2NE1 has revealed their song “Missing you” and has been #1 on many charts.

News/Interview: 2NE1 Goes Beyond Entertainers… These Four Artists, Even Pious

2NE1 GOES BEYOND ENTERTAINER… THESE FOUR ARTISTS, EVEN PIOUS

2NE1-엔터테이너-단계-넘었다…경건하기까지한-아티스트-넷

【서울=뉴시스】오제일 기자 = “We want to use the power of music for good purposes.”

Group “2NE1”s member CL (22) met “godfather of soul” Stevie Wonder (63) in Hong Kong, where Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA) was held on the 22 this month. “He personally gave me good words of advice. Listening to him, I reflected on myself, thinking that I used the power of music for other purposes, rather than sharing love.”

That is self-reflection of 2NE1, who has now established their position as top Korean Wave group, since their debut with “LOLLI POP” in 2009. “As we have just run and run for only music, we didn’t have time to see other things.” (MINZY)

It has been five year since their debut, but 2NE1 members have been together for 7-8 years including the years of training. “We didn’t come together to form a group. Each of us was preparing solo debut then we met one another ‘like destiny’. We have different musical preferences, but we all think that ‘we have to do it right if we really want to do it’. We will do cool music, as long as we do it.” (CL)

On the 21, 2NE1 released “MISSING YOU”, dreamy ballad music. It is a “song that all members like” and topped nine music charts upon being released. It is the third single released this year following “FALLING IN LOVE” in July and “DO YOU LOVE ME” in August, as well as third No.1 ranking in music charts.

2NE1-엔터테이너-단계-넘었다…경건하기까지한-아티스트-넷2

I think there’s difference between a song that tops charts and a song that influences people. I hope more people listen to our song, rather than “No.1” place on charts. I want to sing a song that can influence people and make that kind of songs.” (CL)

The song’s lyrics “I still hate you that you let me go/ My heart now cold is still/ missing him” made each of 2NE1 members get emotional. BOM (29) and DARA (29) even burst into tears while recording the song.

“I thought of members while singing it. I think each listener feels different” (BOM) “I thought of members much, too. And I also thought that our fans would have missed us, too, while singing.” (MINZY)

The song was given to 2NE1 a year ago, but the timing of release has been put off because of preparations for a regular album. “We have been just running and running since our debut. As we came to see a bigger world and a bigger picture having a world tour, we realized that every moment is precious. We received the song after the tour. We wanted to express a bigger meaning than just relationship between a man and woman.” (CL)

“It was hard to think of the feeling of “missing somebody’, when I’m not in love. I tried to recall my past relationship, but that was too long ago”, said DARA. “Once, my pictures were taken by paparazzi, and the backgrounds were barbecue place, massage shop, and 80% discount store, and places like that. I felt bitter.

Music video of the song is also very popular, recording four million views. CL performed for the music video naked, thinking “I want to show the loneliness of being alone and the bottom of the heart, being more relaxed.” “I myself suggested it to the producer. If someone made me do it, I couldn’t be able to do it like that, but I tried it because I was inspired listening to the song.”

2NE1-엔터테이너-단계-넘었다…경건하기까지한-아티스트-넷3

2NE1 members were surprised by CL’s bold suggestion. “I was surprised at first, but I could understand her, after I heard her thoughts. I think it helped our music video.” (BOM) “At first, I thought she was suggesting it to all of us, so I said ‘I’m not ready yet’ (laugh).” (DARA)

2NE1 will hold a world tour from next March in Seoul, and then in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan. “For the tour, and for us, we want to advertise that we will release a regular album before kicking off the tour. I want to make the audience see a good concert.” (CL)

They are looking into five years ahead. “The music we like has never been the same. I personally feel sorry that each of us has never performed as a solo artist. Looking at each one’s different charms, I think that it would be nice if we can perform songs that can express our different individualities. When we have the opportunity, I and the other members will come back as solo artists. When we come together again after that, won’t we be stronger?” (CL)

They want to use the power of music for good purposes, as a stronger 2NE1. “We want to share warmth of music with as many people as possible. Isn’t that the unique power of music?” (CL)

Interview: 2NE1, Exposure that Reflects Sorrow… Difference is Competitiveness

2NE1, exposure that reflects sorrow…difference is competitiveness[Interview]

51281002

‘Unrivaled girl group’ 2NE1. This is not just their plausible modifier. Since their debut, and for five more years they have been differentiating their music with unique distinguished characters. They are still differentiated from other groups. 2NE1’s weapon is ‘difference’ which is now settled down as their unrivaled competitiveness.

2NE1’s new song ‘Missing You’ is about extreme sorrow. It is not a typical break up song but it is broader. They said the recalled each members when they sang the song.

“I imagined the possibility of parting up with my members. I would miss them if we start doing things apart. In fact, everyone sang the song with same heart. It is not that we are going to stop being a team!(laughs). We had a lot of time to think during the tour last year. I think that time made up feel more special to each other.”(CL)

2NE1 who mainly showed strong intense performance, came back with sad tear shedding new song ‘Missing You’. The music video was even more shocking. Member CL made a bold daring decision to perform naked.

“As soon as I listened to the song, I wanted to play raw. I thought this song did not go out with any clothes. I wanted to express the ‘ra image’ so I first offered to perform naked in the video. I could not have done it if someone asked me to. I did not feel uncomfortable since I knew this goes well with the song.”(CL)

“CL said lets go all nude together. We were appalled. We all refused so she did it by herself. When we saw the video, it was amazing.”(Park Bom)

She even made her members’ startled. But her choice eventually created a artistic outcome. The video was lauded by Billboard which said “CL has does the sad and naked with more classic than Miley Cirus ‘Wrecking Ball'”

“We were really surprised. I thought she was so cool to go naked for our video. Her art spirit was amazing. I did not have any desire for naked performance since I have the youngest image.”(Minzy)

This was a big issue even inside the YG Entertainment and Yang Hyun-suk.

“He said nothing much. I remember him saying ‘I will let her go naked since she wants to but I am a little worried.’ after watching the outcome Yang Hyun-suk and YG family all said ‘Thank god it came out well. We were so worried.’ I guess it was a big issue in YG. Many must have been worried.”(CL)

The song ‘Missing You’ is the third single this year after ‘Falling in love’ and ‘Do you love me’. In the beginning of the year they planed on releasing each song every month from July to October. Actually it did not turn out as they planned.

“We tried to comeback with regular album. This is why it took so long. But we just came out with ‘Missing You’ because we wanted to share the song fast. Also due to the timing and weather. Regular album? There are already many songs. We did not want to rush anything. Instead we wanted to come out with perfect high quality songs.”(CL)

Previously 2NE1 already garnered attention with their comeback time overlapping with YG Family musicians. Again, their comeback will be overlapping with Taeyang and TOP who are already in promotion. Instead of looking uncomfortable they seem to look happy.

“We are really close with Young-bae(Taeyang). We don’t know many celebrities since we don’t regularly come out. We are happy to see our family musician. It is not boring to work together.”(CL)

“If our promotion overlap I feel more excited. When we are active in promotion, sometime I feel tired, sick, sleepy but still..alive.”(Dara Park)

Park Bom and Dara Park playfully confessed that they have no development in their love life although they earned their freedom to date. When they said about music, they soon became serious right away. When they were asked about their future goals and plans they focused on their simple not far away plans.

“For now, our goal is to release our regular album. We will be dropping our regular album before our world tour next year. We don”t want to become meaningless top chart singers. Instead we would like to inspire and effect others with our song.”(CL)

Interview: Danny of 1TYM – “The prettiest girl group member in my opinion is Dara…”

We totally agree! ^_^

57111_600

Hey! Hey you! You’re awesome! Haha~ 😀 Anyway, what group would you like to see debut in the US?

I’m sure you are awesome!! I would love to see 2ne1 or Big Bang debut here. Sounds bias but it is the truth.

Who is the most down-to-earth K-pop celebrity you have met? Also, who in your opinion is the prettiest girl-group member?

Thank you so much! The most down to earth Kpop celeb to me was Tiffany from SNSD. She was super nice. The prettiest girl group member to me in my opinion is Dara. Well , more cute than pretty.

Note: Just included the questions and answers that mentioned 2NE1 and Dara.

Interview/Info: Yoo Min Kyu Names Dara as his Ideal Type Once Again ~ Wants to Star in “Romantic Drama” with her

Yoo Min Kyu was Dara’s partner in the first series for Nikon 1 J1 CFs! He was the cute “candy man” who gave Dara his sneakers when her heels gave her trouble. ❤

TV Report interviewed Yoo Min Kyu, a model-actor who has been gaining attention from his roles in “Last Night” and “Master’s Sun.” In one of the interview’s segments, he mentioned his affection for the show, “Infinity Challenge” and gag man, Yoo Jae Suk in particular, and Sandara Park.

◆ This Man’s Affectionate Love, “Infinity Challege” and Sandara Park

* Yoo Min Kyu said that he was a big fan of MBC’s “Infinity Challenge” and that he wants to meet Yoo Jae Suk.

Aside from his praises for Yoo Neu Nim (T/N: a combination of the Korean word for ‘god’ and Yoo Jea Suk’s surname to mean ‘Lord Yoo Jae Suk’), he also reveals that his strong ideal type exists in Sandara Park. Near the end of the interview, the reporter questioned him about Sandara Park and sniffed an embarassed shyness when the question came up. Certainly, Yoo Min Kyu has been hit by the “Sandara Park love-sick syndrome” and he wishes to film a romantic drama with Sandara Park featuring an older-woman-younger-man romance. He laughed when he realized that he had already decided on a specific role for himself.
