aon

We’re getting closer to the long-awaited album from 2NE1!

After teasing earlier today about the title of their new album in their video conference clip for their world tour, 2NE1 has finally revealed that the title is “AON- All of Nothing” through a poster uploaded onto yg-life.com.

Through the poster, we can also expect that the tour and album will take on a “stellar” concept as it shows the four members standing on top of the planet looking out into the stars. The girls are in shadow, and perhaps future teasers will slowly light them up as more details about the new album are unveiled.

2NE1 will start their “All of Nothing 2013 World Tour” on March 1 in Seoul, as the first girl group to go on their second world tour. The group so far has nine countries confirmed for the world tour, including U.S. and China, hitting 13 cities and 17 concert dates.

Article: SG Wannabe, Big Bang, Davichi, and 2NE1 Have The Most Digital Hit Songs Over The Past Decade

SG Wannabe, Big Bang, Davichi, and 2NE1 Have The Most Digital Hit Songs Over The Past Decade

article

It has been ten years since the digital music market began making its mark in Korea!  Although the digital market overtook the physical market in 2003, most people took to P2P (peer-to-peer) and streaming due to copyright issues.  However, with the release of Se7en‘s digital single ‘Crazy‘ in December 1, 2004, the first online music download sales began, helped by the launching of MelOn in November and Soribada in July of the same year .  In 2006, Korea became the first major music market in the world to become more than 50% digital!

The TOP 100 yearly charts that MelOn created based on the number of monthly downloads and streaming counts from 2004 to December 2013 were all looked over in order to discover which artists had the most hit songs over the past decade in the digital world.  There were a total of 976 songs!

Which artist had the most hit songs among the 976 in the last ten years?

In first place was SG Wannabe (debut year 2004) with a total of 24 hit songs, including three collaborations they did with Kim Jong Kook, Brown Eyed Girls, and KCM. In second place was Big Bang (2006) for a total of 22 songs all on their own, meaning no collaborative works!  For reference, sub-unit GD & T.O.P had two hit songs“High High” and “Oh Yeah.”

In third place was female power duo Davichi (2008) with 18 hit songs!  After these two talented ladies was another YG group 2NE1 (2009), which came in fourth place with a total of 16 hit songs.  Unsurprisingly, the debut years do appear to be important factors in this list–at least for the top four.

In fifth place with a total of 15 hit songs were five artists and featured both older and newer artists: MC Mong, Busker Busker, Lee Seung Gi, Brown Eyed Girls, and SeeYa.  MC Mong had hit songs like “I Love U Oh Thank U,” but he did not release a new song since 2011, the same year SeeYa disbanded.  On the other hand, Busker Busker began in 2011 with ‘Super Star K‘ and officially debuted in 2012 to release quite a number of hit songs over a very short period of time.  Lee Seung Gi debuted the same year as SG Wannabe (2004).

Other artists unsurprisingly included popular ones, such as Girls’ Generation, T-ara, Baek Ji Young, and more.

It has been 10 years since Korea moved into the digital music marketplace everyone uses today! Congratulations to the artists who graced the annual Top 100 digital charts for the last ten years and look forward to even more hit songs that will take K-Pop by storm in the next exciting digital decade.

Article: 2NE1 Takes A Spot on YesAsia’s 2013 Best Selling Lists

YesAsia 2013 Bestsellers – Korean Music

EXO sold over a million albums in 2013, so it comes as no surprise that they topped our album bestsellers as well. We only counted the Korean-language version albums for this chart – Chinese-language versions are under Chinese music – but that was more than enough to put XOXO at #1, Miracles in December at #7 and EXO as the top-selling artist of the year. Their SM labelmates took four more spots in the top ten albums. SHINee notably had three releases on the album and DVD charts, making them the second highest-selling artist, while B.A.PCNBLUE and f(x) broke into top ten albums for the first time.

Kim Jae Joong had the highest-selling solo album of the year, followed by G-Dragonwhose Big Bang dominated the DVD chart. Girls’ Generation still reigns as the top-selling girl group and the only female artist in the overall top ten artists (third after SHINee). Infinite and B.A.P continued to climb the ranks following 2012’s strong showing, but 2013 also saw some new names – VIXXNine MusesSistar and Girl’s Day– rising to top-selling artists for the first time.

The below rankings are based on K-pop sales on YesAsia.com from January 1 to December 31, 2013. Sales of all editions (including repackages) and versions (Korea, Taiwan, Japan, etc.) of the same album/concert are summed up to determine the total sales. Only Korean-language releases are included here; check the C-pop and J-pop bestsellers for Chinese and Japanese releases by Korean artists.

2NE1 takes the 6th spot on the Best Selling K-pop DVDs for their 2012 Global Tour New Evolution in Soul. They also managed to take the 4th spot on the Best Selling Female Artist category despite the fact that they did not release any album in 2013.

Admin Post: Memories of Dara in the Year that Was ~ Looking Back at the Fun-Filled, Roller Coaster Ride of the First Half of 2013

Looking back at the year that was… Or at least the first half of the year that was.. ^_^ When I was making this report, I was amazed at how many things we Dara fans should be thankful for. Even before 2NE1 promoted during the second half of the year, Dara had already been doing so many things that slaked our thirst for her. Here’s a summary of all the Dara moments for January-June 2013:

DARA BASKS IN HER VERSATILITY THROUGH ENDORSEMENTS

DIFFERENT LOOKS FOR CLIO

Dara became Clio’s new endorser after the end of her contract with Etude on December 2012. It didn’t take too long before our sadness over the end of that partnership turned into joy when we learned of Dara’s new endorsement for a more mature make-up line! Taking over the endorsement reigns from her idol, no other than Lee Hyori, Dara made a spectacular transformation for Clio! She headlined two campaigns for the brand: S/S 2013 – Angel VS Devil and F/W 2013 Reverse Charm Lipnicure

Which one is your favorite look for the first Clio campaign for the first half of 2013?

News: Gayo Daejoon Sandara Park, Safely Passes First Time MC Challenge + Relaxed Features

Gayo Daejoon Sandara Park, Safely Passes First Time MC Challenge + Relaxed Features

2013122922094634296_1

Group 2NE1’s Sandara Park passed her first ceremony MC challenge with calm and relaxed features.

On the 29th, starting at 8:45 PM, Sandara Park, along with Sung Si Kyung and Kim Heechul as co-MCs, hosted the SBS Gayo Daejoon at Ilsan Kintex.

This year, Sung Si Kyung hosted JTBC “With Hunt” and MBC radio “FM Music City This is Sung Si Kyung,” continuing his popularity with viewers and listeners alike with his intimate and friendly approach. Kim Heechul appears in many talk and variety programs such as JTBC “War of Words” and MBC “Radio Star” among other celebrities, showing his improvisation and wit.

Among them, only female host, Sandara Park attracted attention from the public, as this is her first MC challenge. Although she has been known to the public for her frank talking skills that she has showcased in reality programs, but this was the first time she’d be speaking as a host for a public, live program.

Despite it being her first time though, Sandara Park showed an incredibly relaxed attitude as the live broadcast progressed. Both Kim Heechul and Sung Si Kyung remarked on Sandara Park‘s comfortable progress at the beginning of the show, “It’s your first time, but you’re already doing well,” they said, giving her high praise, “I prepared really hard so that the two sunbae-nims won’t be burdened with me. Please look after me well,” revealing her firm determination through her preparations.

After Yoon Jong Shin‘s performance of his single, “Instinctively,” Sandara Park complimented him during a short interview, “Yoon Jong Shin sunbae-nim looked really cool,” she commented, giving her sincere compliment in front of a sunbae, “Each and every single word you say is like a gem,” adding his own cute compliment.

Sandara Park met Kim Heechul‘s instant requests for comments without embarassment, “Everyone, you are now with us in the live broadcast of SBS Gayo Daejoon in Ilsan Kintex, please watch well with us,” he said throughout the live program, showing his confidence.

This year’s Gayo Daejoon was titled, “Music Makes Miracles,” which was also the same concept of the event. Music producer Kim Hyung Suk, along with 34 teams, 125 artists did the song, “You Are A Miracle,” catching the public eye. Parodies of popular dramas, drama OSTs, collaboration stages between seniors and juniors added glamor to the event.
