2NE1 Members Still Single And Hating It: Will CL, Minzy, Bom And Dara Ever Find Their ‘Crush’?

Their new album “Crush” might be topping the K-pop charts, but the members of 2NE1 say they still can’t find love.

In an interview released on Monday by their record label YG Entertainment, 2NE1 bandmates CL and Minzy claimed that unlike the members of Girls Generation, they do not have any boyfriends to reveal.

“We also want to give our fans good news,” CL said. “I would like to reveal my new boyfriend, but I don’t have one.”

“Someone even said that love isn’t in my DNA,” Minzy added.

But when asked about their goals, not a single one of the lovelorn ladies of 2NE1 mentioned romance.

“I want to be an inspiring singer,” Minzy said. “I hope to be a musician who can help people.”

“I hope people can listen to our songs and be encouraged,” Park Bom added. “I want to be an artist who can empower people.”

It was 2NE1 band member Dara who set the bar highest for herself.

“I want to take myself to another level,” she said. “I think I can show more of myself to others. I recently started learning guitar and I want to keep practicing so I can perform any song.”

For the group’s frontwoman CL, 2014 is all about the fans.

“I studied music as a young girl, and I made my debut early on. I think it was other people who helped me to grow,” she said.

“Before, I thought what I wanted to do was important and that I should do what I want. But now, I want our fans to give us power, and want to spend time with them. I want to learn from our fans.”

Article: KpopStarz – “Girls’ Generation & 2NE1’s Battle Reminiscent of S.E.S & Fin.K.L”

Girls’ Generation & 2NE1’s Battle – Reminiscent of S.E.S & Fin.K.L

girls-generation-2ne1-s-battle-reminiscent-of-s-e-s-finkl

Girls’ Generation and 2NE1 are both well-loved in the music world, and are called the best girl groups in the K-Pop industry. They both exude very different charms and appeal to the public in their own ways. They went head to head with their similar comeback dates, and went up on the same music program stage. Girls’ Generation had their comeback first, but due to their music video data corruption incident, their 4th album offline sales release and 2NE1’s 2nd album online music release both landed on the same date, February 27th.

On the 9th they both starred on the same music program, and the attention was focused on who would take the honorary ending performance. The ending went to the senior singer group TVXQ.

The two girl groups have often been considered rivals. And so their simultaneous activities were a hot topic for music lovers all around. More than just rivals, the two girl groups were able to contribute to the revival of the music industry, and it was a win-win situation for both.

Girls’ Generation and 2NE1’s rivalry is reminiscent of S.E.S and Fin.K.L‘s fierce competition back in the day.

SM Entertainment first debuted S.E.S in 1997. Until then, no girl group had really been very successful. That’s because at the time girl idols weren’t as popular as they are today. No one knew what would happen.

That’s why S.E.S’s debut was surprising and impactful. They came out with a pure and innocent image, just as their age would indicate, and started with their debut song “I’m Your Girl”. The male fandoms quickly increased in number, and these girls had a huge impact on the music industry.

DSP Media then debuted the girl group Fin.K.L 1 year later in 1998 with the song “Blue Rain”. Fin.K.L had a hard time at first, but things got easier with their other song “To My Boyfriend”, with which they ranked number 1. They appealed to the public with a different charm than S.E.S. Thereafter Fin.K.L released many hits back to back, and stood out as female idols that could overtake S.E.S.

And now 16 years later, the members are still battling against each other. But at the present they are competing as actresses, not singers.

Being called “rivals” can be taxing on both sides. However, S.E.S was able to stay in the spotlight longer because Fin.K.L emerged as rivals to compete against them. And it’s the same with Girls’ Generation and 2NE1. Their rivalry is a point of interest, and the two girl groups will receive much more attention thanks to their competition against each other to be labeled the best.

Yoo In Na Of ‘My Love From The Star’ Discusses Her Run-Ins With Big Bang And 2NE1 In The YG Cafeteria

It’s not your average cafeteria.

When “My Love From The Star” (also called “You Who Came From The Stars”) actress and radio disc jockey Yoo In Na first joined the talent management division of K-pop powerhouse record label YG Entertainment, she never considered she’d be meeting some of her favorite pop stars, over lunch.

In an interviewconducted from a restaurant near the campus of Seoul’s Hongik University and posted Friday to YG’s website, Yoo explained the surreal experience of running into some of her favorite stars over the label’s legendary in-house traditional Korean cuisine.

“I am a big fan of Big Bang and 2NE1, and I constantly listen to 2NE1’s CD in my car,” she said. “It still feels very strange to see them in the company cafeteria.”

The 31-year-old “My Love From The Star” cast member claims she has felt more comfortable at YG Entertainment recently since the label began representing more actors.

“YG Entertainment used to be a nest for singers, but actors are also joining in, so that gives me great comfort,” Yoo said.

She also discussed her friendship with 2NE1 member Sandara Park.

“Although we don’t meet up much, I became really good friends with Sandara Park [since signing with YG Entertainment],” Yoo said.

“People think of her as being quirky, but she also has lots of other sides to her personality. Of course, she does also like to make people laugh.”

And the actress also opened up about her close relationship with solo singer IU.

“We are really close friends,” she said.

“I’m nine years older, but generational gap doesn’t exist between us. She sometimes seems more mature than I am. When I feel down, she comes to me and comforts me and gives me presents. While I’m DJing, she shows up unexpectedly to cheer me on and sometimes gives gifts for my manager to hand to me.”

2NE1: “We’re Running Behind When It Comes to Dating”

2ne1-crushThe members of girl group 2NE1 evoked laughter when they stated, “We’re running behind when it comes to dating.”

On March 14, 2NE1 held an interview session at a hotel in Yeouido, Seoul in celebration for the release of their second full album, “Crush.” When posed with a question relating to dating, they answered, “We acknowledge. We’re running behind.”

CL remarked, “There are many oppas in our company, but I think it’s not good that we’re close with them. I think they try to be protective because they see us as their younger sisters. I think the unnie members (Park BomSandara Park) aren’t able to find anyone because they don’t go out.”

Park Bom added to CL’s comment and said, “We really don’t have any opportunities [to meet guys].”

Sandara Park had a serious expression on her face when she said, “I thought about it seriously. I think our company president (Yang Hyun Suk) and our sunbaes are more worried than I am. I really want to relieve of this worry from them soon.”

Article: 2NE1, “WE ARE THANKFUL FOR YG’S ADVICE, BUT HE IS SCARY SOMETIMES” [INTERVIEW]

2NE1, “WE ARE THANKFUL FOR YG’S ADVICE, BUT HE IS SCARY SOMETIMES” [INTERVIEW]

[파이낸셜뉴스 스타엔=김동주기자] Korea’s power girl group 2NE1 (CL, BOM, DARA, and MINZY), who’s leading the K-POP, finally released their second regular album “CRUSH” after about four years of waiting.

2NE1, a veteran girl group and cultural ambassador who promotes Korean culture, debuted six years ago. They say that their new album marks a turning point in their career. 2NE1 was able to produce a satisfactory album with various genres of music that represent each member’s different styles in music such as reggae, hip hop, and R&B. 2NE1′s member CL personally wrote the lyrics and music for the album.

CL said, “It took four years. Since our first album includes many single songs, it feels like this second album is actually the first regular album in our hearts. We tried various types of music and genre and stepped out of the boundary, so I’m exceptionally proud that the album came out to be great.”

DARA added, “All the members, including myself, are having a great time because we released many new songs after a long time. I feel like we were able to produce a great album although we waited a long period. I’m always smiling nowadays.”

2NE1 also felt anxious while waiting for the album’s release as it took too long. Although 2NE1 made TV appearances with single albums in the meantime, they were growing impatient as they wanted to let their fans hear the songs that they prepared for so long.

“I believe that’s why we were able to produce an excellent album. It feels as though we broke a mold by undertaking a big challenge. I get a sense of feeling that after going through a slow period, we will be able to keep going from now without stopping” said CL.

CL, who participated in writing the lyrics and music for the second regular album, feels like seeing her double in all of the songs and has a great affection for the new album. CL’s self-written song, “CRUSH,” became the title track of the album and the song has a special meaning to her.

CL explained, “There was a period of time when I thought it’s better not to write songs myself. I always wanted remain as a muse to someone else and I was afraid I might lose my fantasies for music if I get too much involved with it. But this time, I went for it, thinking that I’m going to make music for life. The funny thing is that after writing music myself, I wondered why I was so afraid before. The more I learn about music, the more mesmerizing it gets. Royalties for my songs? I didn’t get much for the songs I wrote since I only wrote three (laugh).”

YG Entertainment’s main producer Yang Hyun Suk personally choreographed one of the double title tracks, “Come Back Home,” for 2NE1′s second regular album.

Yang Hyun Suk, who choreographed Seo Tae Ji and Boys’ song “Come Back Home” in 1995, got to choreograph a song of the same title in 10 years, and it was unusual for him to take charge of the entire choreography as he only choreographed certain parts for other YG artists so far.

BOM said, “Our main producer paid a special attention to our new album. He even provided guidance to us all night long in the practice room. He probably did that since the song has a special meaning for him as well. I am extremely grateful for his support, but at the same time, I was actually scared of him since he kept a hawkish eye on us all the time (laugh).”

What is the secret behind 2NE1′s long-term success entering their sixth year since debuting? “Never getting old” was the answer that the members gave unanimously. They said that by never getting old, which is their motivation, they get to taken on challenges without any fear.

CL explained, “I personally don’t like the feeling of easiness. I believe once you start to enjoy the comfortable feeling, that’s the end of everything. Each member still has a lot to show in terms of our different personalities and styles. If we keep doing what we do, time will fly.”

“It is important to keep looking for new challenges. Personally, I’m always pursuing for changes by trying different hairstyles, although the “palm tree” and “vegetable” looks failed. (CL: “One time, DARA almost broke in tears, saying that she doesn’t want to get out of the car right in front of the broadcasting station.”) It is better not to go overboard on things sometimes,” said DARA, laughingly.

With the new album, 2NE1 set a new record. 2NE1′s second regular album “CRUSH” ranked No. 61 on the Billboard 200, an album chart, and their title track “Come Back Home” ranked No. 5 on the World Digital Songs Chart.

2NE1 got to dream a great leap forward as a global girl group through the new album’s success, setting an all-time-high record in K-POP history after fellow YG artist, PSY.

“Fans’ support is great motivation. There’s nothing rewarding than fans’ support and them being proud of us. That is why we should do our best in the work we do as the best girl group in Korea.”

3_2NE1 매의 눈 양현석 대표..감사하지만 무서워[인터뷰]

What would 2NE1, who enjoys being on stage the most, look like in the next 10 years? DARA gave an explicit reply.

“I hope we stay the same after 10 years as well. We would probably be enjoying ourselves, just like now, not getting any older. My wish is to age stylishly, regardless of work, dressing like this and dying my hair blue even when I become a grandmother,” said DARA.

2NE1, starting with the Seoul Tour which was held on March 1st and 2nd, will hold 15 concerts in total in 12 cities of nine countries including Korea, Japan, and China. It is an exciting world tour with 2NE1 performing new songs from their second regular album.

In regard to the world tour concert, CL explained, “Since it’s been a long time since we sang and performed in front of our fans, we want to sing and show all of our songs and performances. I hope that our last concert of the world tour would be an encore concert in Korea. Wouldn’t my wish come true if all of our fans give us their support?”

“I really like it when our fans tell us that we’ve matured and became better. We received same compliments for this new album as well, which gave us more motivation to work harder,” said DARA.

BOM added, “It’s nice to hear that we’re good, but I want more than that. I want to hear that we’re a one-of-a-kind legendary group, but we would have to work harder to earn that title.”

Article: 2NE1′S ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO BREAK THE MOLD RATHER THAN GETTING GOOD RESULTS

2NE1′S ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO BREAK THE MOLD RATHER THAN GETTING GOOD RESULTS

[조이뉴스24=이미영기자] ”Our goal was to break the mold rather than topping music charts. We feel like we have undertaken a big challenge.”

On March 14, YG Entertainment’s girl group 2NE1 held a press conference for the release of the second album “CRUSH” and expressed their opinion on the album’s success at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul.

2NE1 성적보다 2NE1 틀 깨는 것이 목표…큰 산 넘었다

2NE1 once again showed off their undiminished power with their second album “CRUSH.” 2NE1 topped all of the music charts in Korea with their double title tracks, “Come Back Home” and “Gotta Be You.” With their second album, on March 15, 2NE1 debuted on the Billboard 200, the main album chart of the U.S.’ Billboard, as No. 61, ranking the highest among Korean singers.

During the interview, 2NE1 said, “Since it has been a long time since we released a regular album, we didn’t link our album’s success to the Billboard Chart. It was a sweet and unexpected surprise for us because we gave our all preparing for the new album.”

Aside from topping all music charts, the satisfaction level of 2NE1 members toward the album is higher than ever. “It took four years for our second regular album to be released. We came out of our comfort zones and challenged ourselves musically as well, so we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished. We believe it is a good start as well as a bonus since we are getting positive response from many fans,” said 2NE1.

2NE1 also added, “Although it is important to rank No. 1 in music charts, our goal was to break the mold among ourselves with the new album. We feel like we’ve undertaken a big challenge.” On the success and meaning of their second album, 2NE1 said, “we focused on leaving as many marks of 2NE1 as possible. Even though it may seem like a short period of time, we’ve been singing and performing for six years, taking on big challenges, so we believe time will roll even faster from now. We would like to continue singing and performing as if we’re leaving 2NE1′s marks.”

2NE1 has been maintaining their place at the top by continuously changing and challenging themselves. They thought hard to bring changes while keeping 2NE1′s identity, and the fans gladly accepted 2NE1′s maturation.

“We wanted to keep our true identity as 2NE1. Each of us wants to try different things on our own, whether that is something shocking or feminine. We have different styles and personalities, which are our biggest merit. We wanted to show the fans that ‘this is 2NE1′ and ’2NE1 can do various types of music,’” said 2NE1.

As for the obsession for change, 2NE1 explained, “We realized that the answer is to be true to ourselves, rather than feeling pressure. We tried to be frank and show the fans our true selves. I believe we would’ve looked awkward if we forced ourselves to do something that we are not in order to emphasize our styles.” They added, “We tried to do what we like with sincerity, rather than worrying.”

2NE1, who debuted six years ago, confessed that they felt anxious waiting for their second regular album to be released. However, members have become more close to one another with stronger teamwork.

2NE1 also said, “Our mini album ‘I’m The Best’ came out three years ago. We didn’t release a regular album for two years and only performed with three different single songs last year. We wanted the album to be perfect, so perhaps that’s why it took a while, to make a satisfactory and great album. We grew impatient because we were eager to sing and perform in front of our fans. It was a long fight against ourselves because we couldn’t sing and perform like we desperately wanted to.”

2NE1 expressed their love for one another, saying, “Before, we would’ve just waited for the next album to be completed, but this time, we wrote the songs ourselves and actively participated in the making of it, which made us to become more energetic. We became to appreciate each other more and grew closer.”

Meanwhile, 2NE1 is making TV appearances with their double title tracks, “Come Back Home” and “Gotta Be You,” and they will meet with fans overseas through their second world tour, “ALL OR NOTHING.”
