Sandara Park, “Our Dating Ban Seems To Have Been Extended”

I make picture albums for the members on their birthday, and give them as gifts

In front of the camera, celebrity stars seem to be overwhelming, as people see their perfect features and gorgeous appearances. Let’s see how stars look like and try to meet them as they get ready to set foot on stage, how they conduct themselves under pressure, and how they prepare for another day tomorrow.

As preparations were finished, the first guest for “Lee Jeong-Ah’s Celebrity” is popular and talented group, 2NE1’s Sandara Park. She always shows a happy and bright expression, which make the people who meet and see her feel light; Sandara Park, who has taken up photography as a hobby.

Like her cute self, her camera is the Nikon J1 model. The intense shade of red color, as expected, suits her well. Let’s find out when she decided to take up such a hobby.

“I don’t really recall when exactly, I just know that ever since I was a baby, I’ve had a lot of pictures; I think I really liked to have my pictures taken back then. Then ever since I made my debut, I carried a camera and took a lot of photos myself. I want to have a lot of memories when I am working.”

Although this definitely is a busy time for her, it seems that she still has time for this particular hobby.

“There’s plenty of time. I take pictures when we’re on the airplane; when we’re filming, I also take time to take photos. A lot of my photos have the members in them, but recently, I’ve been taking pictures of our. I think our cat is my new model.”

We’re curious if this hobby has a different meaning as “person” Sandara Park and “singer” Sandara Park.

“The photographs that I take are a lot of help for me. For me, they are very valuable because they are precious memories…  After some time, I may forget what I did yesterday; or there’s also a possibility that in the future, I might miss what I am doing today, so there’s still a chance for me to look back and relive it again; for me, that’s a good thing. So really, I love taking photos a lot.”

Seeing that there are a lot of photographs that are taken, there must be some problem on how to store them, so it was asked if she makes things like an album to keep them in.

“In the past, I kept the photos on a lot of CDs, but recently, I keep them in separate folders on my computer. I also really like to make albums, so on the members’ birthdays, I give them albums as a gift. I did this last year, but I didn’t get the chance to do it this year. I also like printing the pictures myself, and then writing letters on them after.”

For someone who hasn’t taken actual photography lessons, we were curious to know who Sandara Park’s favorite photographer is. “I’ve worked with photographer Hong Hang Hyeon, and I like him. He works very quickly, but there’s always a lively and beautiful work born out of it. You can feel the energy in the pictures. I haven’t shown my photos to him though. I’m shy. (Haha!)”

We thought that it would be good to see the photos that she has personally endeavored so hard to photograph. We were also curious as to what kind of light she sheds on her subjects.

“I’m really quite a shy person, so I didn’t give it much thought, but once, I had an idea to make a book out of my photos. I have lot of photos. And I think the fans would like to see them too. I’m thinking about doing it next year, but there’s nothing definite yet.”

Aside from photos, Sandara Park also has something else she wants to learn. Perhaps this passion is the reason why she always looks so lively.

“I want to learn video filming and editing. In the future, I want to make a music video that will feature all the memebrs, and then I’d be the one to add the analog, music, and the kind of feel I want it to have.”

While revealing her love for photography, Sandara Park showed an animated and lively appearance all throughout. It’s quite different from her image that we are used to on stage. While working hard, it can get to be quite frustrating, but because of a happy hobby to engage in, she has become relieved of some of the burdens.

Splitting her time coming and going between Korea and Japan, and generally living a busier life everyday, it appears that many fans are worrying a lot about Sandara Park’s health.

“Because of the cold, I sometimes have a runny nose, but other than that, I’m fine. I really don’t get sick all of the sudden. I make sure that I take care of my health by eating well and taking vitamins and red ginseng always.”

Compared to other stars, we can also see that Sandara Park communicates more actively with the fans through SNS (Social Networking Sites). It’s true that she is indeed a diligent star.

“I really think that SNS is fun and interesting. No matter how late or how tired I come after work, I check my SNS and happily communicate with the fans. Even if the comments run past a hundred, I try to read them all.”

In addition, because of doing this hobby, she continues to work happily. We wondered at what the secret is that causes her to always look happy and lively.

“Although a hobby can be a reason, but more than anything, I think that being together with the members is the thing that gives me strength. Of course, I also have personal problems as well, but I bury them for a time when I’m alone, and then try to live happily when I’m with the members.”

2NE1 has been busier than anyone else during the past year. We wondered what the most memorable thing was during this year.

“Originally, 2NE1 doesn’t really go for a lot of activities within a year, but for this one, we seem to have worked hard with a lot of promotions. This time, we had our first solo concert too. Wow!!!! And just recently, we went to the US, and received an award from MTV in New York. Wow!!!! When I think about it now, I still find it hard to believe. In the new, upcoming year, we will continue to work hard in our various activities.”

And more than anything, next year is the year when they would be released from their dating ban, as Sandara Park has revealed. Because of that thought, one would think that she would have thought about falling in love and dating. But she gave quite an unexpected answer.

“Everyone tells me that it would be hard for me to fall in love. I ask them why? Then they say that it’s because I dream about a person who is like a prince; a person that exists only in the movies. (Haha!) But I really wanted to tell them the truth. That, originally, our president was about to release us from the dating ban on May of next year. But after those words were revealed in public, people started to ask me “How’s your love life?” And then the president heard when they were talking to me, and he said, “That’s not allowed!” just like that. Un! be! liev! able!”
