News/Twitter: Swizz Beatz Hopes to Work on 2NE1-Rihanna Collaboration

Swizz Beatz has expressed his will to produce a collaboration between Korean girl group 2NE1 and U.S. pop star Rihanna.

At a press conference held in Seoul on Monday announcing a partnership between Swizz Beatz’ production company and local media agency O&media, Beatz told 10Asia that teaming up 2NE1 with Rihanna is one of his many goals.

“K-pop stars have a lot of potential… I found a new expression in K-pop. The world is open for new things,” he told the magazine. “This partnership is the beginning of history.”

A producer, designer, rapper, DJ, painter, CEO, professor and marketing manager, Swizz Beatz, one of the most talented figures Hollywood, is taking another leap by attempting to bridge the music world between East and West.

Through the partnership with the agency in Korea, Beatz will be producing albums from the two countries and assisting them on entering each other’s market as well as making cross-region collaborations with A-list musicians.

Separately, the companies stated in a press release that artists from both firms including Alicia Keys, who is also the wife of Beatz, are planning to produce joint albums under Beatz’ direction.

To add to the fast-developing partnership of the two companies, they are currently training 15 soon-to-be artists to be unveiled in the latter half of this year.

“We will be making a ground-breaking announcements happening in the near future,” the producer noted.

A nominee of last year’s Grammy Award’s Best Rap Performance, he also has worked with major world-class celebrities such as Madonna, Bono, U2, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Jay Z and Eminem.

2NE1’s Dara Visits VJ Luis!

Spotted: 2NE1’s Sandara Park dropped by ABS-CBN‘s compound to say “hi” to VJ Luis before flying to Japan to promote an upcoming album.

2NE1’s Sandara Park, aka Dara, paid VJ Luis a visit yesterday before flying to Japan to promote an upcoming album. The two met when Sandara was just starting out as a Questor on ABS-CBN’s reality talent show “Star Circle Quest” where VJ Luis was one of the hosts.

Despite making it big as a K-Pop idol, Sandara remains grounded and never forgets her roots.

VJ Luis shared their reunion with MYXph (see above photo). While catching up, VJ Luis asked Sandara if she would tour him around Korea if he decides to take a vacation there, to which Sandara jested “If I have time,” generating laughs from those present.

Well, she certainly has a lot on her plate, 2NE1 poised to take the international music by storm!

Aside from meeting with VJ Luis, Sandara also took time to meet fellow Questor Joross Gamboa, as well as a brief chat with actress Kim Chiu. Check out their photos below!

2NE1 arrived in the Philippines last February 1 for what was initially reported as a vacation. Though the next day, Park Bom, Dara, Minzy, and CL were spotted doing a photoshoot poolside at Resorts World. They flew to Misibis Bay in Albay later that day. According to some reports, the girls are working on a photo-essay book.

Sandara Park Says Hello to Old Colleagues at ABS-CBN

On her last day in Manila, Korean pop star Sandara Park visited former colleagues at ABS-CBN. While her groupmates from 2NE1–CL, Bom and Minzy--opted to stay at their hotel to rest before their flight back to Korea, Sandara decided to drop by to say hello to her former Star Magic mentor Mr. Johnny Manahan, the staff of Sunday noontime show ASAP (where she was a regular) and some celebrity friends. Sandara had just returned from Albay that morning with the rest of 2NE1.

Because of time restraints, Sandara had to rush to different areas of the Kapamilya network starting with a visit to Mr. M, who was at the time directing ASAP’s live show from the control booth. The two had a short chat and she soon went to see the show’s staff including Joyce Liquicia, ASAP’s business unit head.

She then headed off to the MYX studio to meet Luis Manzano, the former Star Circle Quest (SCQ) host but she eventually went back to the ASAP dressing rooms to see him.

Here, she was also able to talk Kim Chiu, who is an admitted fan of Sandara.


Afterwards, Sandara headed straight to a nearby restaurant have her favorite sisig, sinigang na hipon, pakbet, gambas, and kinilaw na pusit for lunch. Here, she got to hang out with actor Joross Gamboa, one of her closest buddies from SCQ.

Sandara also decided to buy Italian food for the 2NE1 members and their entourage and here, another formerSCQ member, Raphael Martinez ,caught up with them. On her way back to her hotel, Joross called actress Melissa Ricks, who was on a Walang Hanggan mall tour in Lucena, and had her talk to Sandara. Melissa thanked Sandara for the belated birthday gift the latter had sent her days earlier. Melissa was particularly touched that Sandara remembered to get what she really wanted.

It was a short trip to her “second home” and Sandara hopes she will have more time to spend with her friends the next time she visits again.

Info: 2NE1 to Collaborate with Japanese Hip Hop Group “M-FLO”?

Earlier today, 2NE1 and Gummy had an event (YG GIRL’S MEETING) in Tokyo, Japan. Unfortunately, Bom was unable to join them because of poor health. The event was hosted by both Madame Yulia and M-Flo’s Verbal.

During the event, M-Flo’s Verbal said that their new SQUARE ONE album would be released on March 14, and “MAY” include a collaboration with 2ne1!

Even though Verbal only said “MAY” I think the collaboration is more or less a foregone deal.

M-Flo is a Japanese Hip Hop group consisting of Producer and DJ Taku Takahashi and Emcee Verbal. They have worked with different vocalists such as Bonnie Pink and BoA. Their mainstream success and critical acclaim established them as the most iconic and influential hip hop production team in Japan. They have collaborated with international producers and artists such as Kanye West and The Beastie Boys.

Photos/Info: 2NE1 Visits Hyungboo Korean Restaurant

Hyungboo is a very popular Korean restaurant located in Akasaka, Japan. A lot of Korean celebrities frequent that place when they are in Japan, and it seems 2NE1 also went to try out the famous restaurant!

Dara and Minzy went to the restaurant first, on October 19, 2011. It’s cute knowing that the fake and real maknaes went out on a date in Japan together! ^^

According to the website (where you can see what the celebrities ordered from the menu, a bit creepy but yes) Dara and Minzy ordered Korean beef ribs, geotjoli (a kind of kimchi), and japchae (vermicelli noodles with veggies and beef). Aside from that, Dara made an extra order (I’m assuming it was only Dara who ordered it, since it’s not on Minzy’s list) of uijeongbu budaejjigae or army base soup (ramen with kimchi, pork sausages, tofu, and veggies.. the works!)…

On November 9th, all of the 2NE1 girls plus Big Bang’s maknae Seungri, went to the restaurant and ordered a hefty meal! They ordered the Korean Bulgogi set, salted squid, and a toppokki (rice cakes) meal!
