Sandara Park is making a name for herself outside 2NE1.

The member of popular K-Pop girl group 2NE1 recently surpassed one million followers on Instagram, which has been giving fans a glimpse of Park’s life as a part of the idol group.

The pictures on the singer’s Instagram account show her hanging out with her fellow group members Bom, Minzy and CL along with her fashionable outfits.

Sandara, also known as Dara, visited the Philippines with 2NE1 on May 14 for their world tour concert, which wrapped on May 17.

The 29-year-old singer documented the fun times she was having with her band mates on her Instagram account. She posted a picture of when the girls headed to Tagatay to unwind after their successful concert.

In one of the photos, Sandara Park is wearing a red crop top that displays her stomach with the caption, “It is summer now. Photo by CL.”

The girls performed their hit singles from their second album, including “Crush,” at the Mall of Asia Arena.

They also made sure to perform previous singles for their long-time fans including “Fire,” “Pretty Boy,” and “Clap,” singing a total of eighteen songs on the night of their performance.

Sandara has her own fan base in the Philippines because she had lived there when she was young and started her career there after becoming a runner up on “Star Circle Quest” back in 2004.

During her recent visit, the singer made several appearances on television shows, including “Aquino & Abunda” and “Gandang Gabi Voice,” where she spoke of how 2NE1 differs from the other K-Pop girl groups. She even made a surprise visit to “It’s Showtime” and “Pinoy Big Brother House,” according to Manila Standard Today.

“I think 2NE1 is different from other K-Pop girl groups regarding music. All four of us have very different taste and character. One would wonder how four individuals with such different voice, style, taste and personality could act together as a group. However, when those four very different voices comes together, 2NE1’s music becomes complete,” stated Sandara Park.

2NE1 will be holding their next concert at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 24.

News: Inquirer ~ “2NE1 and Philipine Blackjacks Re-United” + Philippine Star – “2NE1 Overwhelmed with Filipino Fans’ Welcome”

2NE1 and PH Blackjacks reunited

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino fans of Korean girl group 2NE1 were treated to an open press conference Friday night.

Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy made almost an hour-long appearance at a mall in Pasig City to meet with members of the Philippine media as well as their fans who have been anticipating their arrival since morning of May 16.

But before the girls of 2NE1 arrived at the venue of the press conference, a cover group called Sapphire entertained the crowd by performing some of 2NE1’s chart-topping songs.

Also during the pre-press conference program, meet-and-greet passes and VIP tickets to the concert were given away through raffles and a dance contest.

The event was hosted by the “Krimmy couple,” a moniker combining the names of real-life sweethearts blogger Kring Elenzano and Philippine-based Korean photographer Jimmy Kim.

When the girls arrived, screams and nothing but screams dominated the place. The hosts had to, from time to time, ask the crowd to keep it down so the girls would hear the media and vice versa. But keeping it down was proven difficult especially when the group finally started answering questions from the press.

“I feel happy to be here. I missed you guys,” Bom told the fans when host Kring Elenzano asked how they feel about being in the Philippines again.

“I feel so blessed,” the group’s leader, CL, exclaimed when fans kept on cheering and chanting her name when it was her turn to speak.

“Ang init ng weather (The weather’s hot). Ang init din ng pagtanggap ninyo (And your reception as well). Ito ang hinintay ko talaga (This is what I’ve really been waiting for),” Dara answered, she was pertaining to being able to hold a concert in the Philippines together with the girls of 2NE1. This caused a louder roar among the crowd.

More love for Blackjacks

When asked what separates 2NE1 from other Korean girl groups, Dara answered “Unique kami dahil sa music namin (We’re unique because of our music), at dahil sa inyong mga Blackjack! (and because of you Blackjacks!)”

And it seems like Dara is not the only one who’s up for appearances in local Pinoy TV shows. When the group’s participation in the TV show “The Bachelor” was mentioned, CL commented: “You know we want to come out in some TV shows here.”

From 2NE1 to the fans

Bom kept her message short but sweet. Before she took charge of the mic, she was seen whispering with Dara, and then she exclaimed “Mahal kita” twice.

While CL said she will express her love for the fans best during their concert. “It’s unbelievable [the support from fans]. Thank you so much. I can’t put it in my words. I’ll just show you tomorrow,” she explained.

2NE1 is set to perform at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday night, May 17, for their “All Or Nothing Tour”. The group also celebrates their 5th anniversary since debut on the same day.

051814_2ne1

MANILA — Smacked just a couple of feet away from the stage, it was hard not to get pumped up at the All Or Nothing concert of the South Korean girl group 2NE1 at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday night.

The group’s avid fans dubbed Blackjacks, who filled the seats from the upper box down to the VIP section, were all waving glow sticks while screaming out fanchants to the group composed of CL, Minzy, Bom and Dara — or Sandara Park to her legion of Filipino supporters.

Some held up banners and many took pictures. And when the lights were dimmed down and an introductory video played on the giant screens, the entire arena echoed with screaming fans, who were now all on their feet.

The song “Crush” blasted from the speakers and the four members of 2NE1, as if coming out of nowhere, were suddenly there on the stage.

The group’s chart-topping songs like “Fire,” “Can’t Nobody,” “I Am The Best,” and “Come Back Home” from their newest album were among the 25 songs performed on Saturday night.

The encores even included Park’s Filipino hit “In or Out,” which was performed by all four members.

Halfway through the concert, 2NE1 called out surprise guests to the stage, starting with YG Entertainment’s newest boy group, Winner. Also known as Team A from the reality-survival show “Who is Next: WIN,” the group performed “Just Another Boy” and “Go Up.”

Park also brought local celebrities Jason Abalos, Joross Gamboa, Sam Milby and Ram from G Force to the stage for the sexy lap dance number for the hit “I Love You.”

Park later thanked the guys for being there at the show on her official Twitter account.

Saturday’s show also marked 2NE1’s fifth anniversary.

“Special ang araw na ito dahil dito kami sa Manila magse-celebrate ng fifth year anniversary namin,” Park said in flawless Tagalog. (T/N: This is a special day because we’re celebrating our fifth year anniversary in Manila.”

The group made its debut on May 17, 2009 with their first single “Fire.”

All four members expressed their happiness for having reached this career milestone. Their managers, back-up dancers, and staff were called on stage, and cakes were brought out to mark the celebration.

The group’s leader, CL, also thanked the fans for their support.

“Thank you so much for making this night so beautiful. I don’t know why it took us so long to get here, I don’t wanna leave,” she said. “Tonight is a very special night for us. It’s our fifth anniversary and we’re happy to spend it with you guys.”

Park said she’s happy to have finally staged a full concert of 2NE1 for their Filipino fans.

“I’m so happy to be here with 2NE1 and Blackjacks. Mahal ko kayo!” she said.

The concert ended with the final encore number “Can’t Nobody” as gold confetti rained at the MOA Arena.

What Sandara Park misses about Pinoy fans

MANILA — She may be an international star but Korean singer Sandara Park admitted that she still often looks back at her early years as a showbiz upstart in the Philippines.

The 30-year-old, who is one fourth of the Korean girl group 2NE1, started her career as a performer when she joined the ABS-CBN talent search program Star Circle Quest.

“Nami-miss ko ‘yan sobra dahil dyan ako nagsimula,” she said in an interview on “Pinoy Big Brother” on Thursday, as she looked back on her music videos and her numerous appearances in local television and movies.

“Siyempre ‘yung moment ko with the fans, ‘yung sigawan nila ang nami-miss ko din,” she added.

Park is in the country for 2NE1’s “All or Nothing” tour, which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena this weekend. Other members of the group are expected to arrive in the Philippines on Friday, according to Park.

Asked about what makes Filipino fans different, she said: “Lahat ng fans namin pareho. Laging sobrang mainit ‘yung sigawan nila.”

In an earlier interview on “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” Park admitted that she watches movies produced in the country whenever she misses the Philippines, citing the Vice Ganda-starrer “This Guy’s in Love with U Mare,” which she said was really funny.

Still at the top

During her guesting for the afternoon recap show of the reality television show, the official hashtag #uberSANDARA topped worldwide trends.

Her guest appearance on “It’s Showtime” early in the afternoon and other terms related to the star were also among the most tweeted, locally.

Park, who once entered the Big Brother house during the show’s previous celebrity edition, pleaded to “Kuya” to let her out this time around.

Host and actor John Prats recalled the time when Park was forced to stay inside the house for more than a day as a celebrity house guest because she failed the show’s challenge.

“Sana makalabas ako!” Park said.
