There Is No ‘Ugly’ 2NE1 Anymore ‘Missing You’

The music video of ‘Missing You’ was released at the midnight of November 21. ‘Missing You’ swept the real-time charts of the major music sites as a winter song of a deep sentiment ‘Missing You’ characterized by the members’ sorrowful voice is drawing more attention with its music video than the song itself.

 The dream-like music video is focused on the matured beauty of the four members. The sadness and longing feelings were expressed with the images of each member. The youngest member Gong Min-ji gave off feminine vibes while Park Bom emphasized an exotic face. Sandara Park appeared in a classy feel while CL appeared in nudity.

2NE1 called themselves “a girl group that is not pretty, or a girl group full of personalities and talents,” when it debuted. They were determined to be recognized for their ability instead of appearance. They were confident enough to choose Ugly as a song title.

However, over time, the visuals of the 2NE1 members are changing dramatically. The youngest member Gong Min-ji became a grown-up, expanding the spectrum of what she can show. Most of all, they removed the fixed image of a girl group who shouted for the confidence of women. They set themselves apart from their previous image by expressing women’s feelings and representing women. That is why there is a sense of expectation for 2NE1’s transformation this time.

2NE1’s new song ‘Missing You’ will be first performed at ‘Mnet Asian Music Awards(MAMA)’ to be held on November 22.
