FROM YG: NEWS ABOUT ‘2NE1 AND SEUNGRI’

When is the release date of the latest song of 2NE1?

2NE1’s upcoming new song, “DO YOU LOVE ME,” is produced by TEDDY, YG’s main producer.
This new summer song is full of fierceness and excitement that suits the hot season, just like “I Am The Best” released in the summer of 2011.

2NE1 has already completed successfully all the dance practices for the song with a new choreographer from abroad. Yet, there has been a bit of setback for the production of the music video, which was scheduled to be directed by Seo Hyun-seung.

This kind of thing is not uncommon in the business.
And in most cases, a common decision is to delay the release date for a couple of weeks.
However, 2NE1 is planning to release a new song every month so if we postpone this month’s release, there will be evitable delays for the next songs.
This will be a major setback for 2NE1’s plan.

It is against this backdrop that we have reached the decision to release 2NE1’s second title song, “DO YOU LOVE ME,” on August 7th as scheduled.

2NE1 enjoys higher YouTube viewership among fans around the world compared to many other Korean girl groups. As such, we have decided to create a home video rather than a music video, and 2NE1 will be the one to film with mobile phones and old-fashioned cameras.

We believe that this home video style can work as it will show a natural and casual aspect of 2NE1, who has so far showcased several music videos emphasizing their unique fashion styles in gorgeous sets.

In order to shoot the film within a short period of time until the release on August 7th, 2NE1 has finished their TV promotion activities for “FALLING IN LOVE” after appearing on the Music Trend (Inkigayo) last week.

I hope all of you would understand the situation and will show great support and expectations for the upcoming performance of 2NE1 on August 7th.

i guess we all have different opinions about everything…. and its just a matter of respecting someone’s opinion…

as for me… YG didn’t become a multi-million errr… billion company for nothing… and THEY KNOW BETTER… so im just gonna sit back relax and enjoy the freakin’ ride… the girls seems genuinely happy bout what they are working on a of the moment.. and that’s all i have to know…

its Exciting for me to see them in different light…. Badass MVs and songs are a given with 2ne1… something that is expected of them… and it takes some REAL TALENT and ARTISTRY to be able to explore their music… of different vibe, different genre, different feel… Isnt that what 2ne1 is all about???? Different, Trendsetters, Evolutions…

If YG just wanted to turn them into cash-cows than Artist didn’t they already figure out the winning formula from how their songs and album turned out?!? But instead the company lets them take the road less travelled… even its not their comfort zone.. its just a matter TRUST both ways… and its something that i particularly admire with YG and its talented pool of Artist. And its the same reason… that kept me wanting for more…

Excuse me for a while but wanna share my thoughts eversince 2ne1 debuted in 2009. As I’ve observed, 2NE1 has always been the guinea pig in YG? 2NE1 is an experimental group and even YG said he is surprise to the success of 2NE1 back then. So, YG since then is doing sorts of out of norms things promotions for 2ne1 that has always been different to others and being the first group to do that, and always getting the same result = success. What I do fear is the backlash. 2ne1 has always been at the top so everybody has high expectations of them because many looks up to them and their music. Even if you are not an avid fan, you can tell many speaks highly of 2ne1, so it is pressuring.

When 2ne1 were newbies, YG spoils us with creative eye candy MVs, so it is easy to tell the difference to 2NE1 latest MVs. ILY and FIL were not really that impressive for 2ne1 MV for me but I could not ask for more as I already guess what inside Yg mind, I guess = 2ne1 will click, no matter what kind of Mv.

what frustrates me though is why 2ne1 always shoot Mv in studios with only efffects and backdrops?? (I am not pointing out the fake sand in FIL, uhurm) I miss ‘real’ places like in their IDC MV. So, I am quite happy with home videos coz it is outside a room and somewhat creative, not to mention another new for 2ne1 🙂

but I am still wishing for a 2ne1 MV like BIgbang LIES Mv. It is superb 🙂 If Psy, Tablo can shoot outside studios, why not 2ne1? So, I will embrace this home video MV style 🙂

ps: after a year, I always watch ILY Mv nowadays. I only appreciated it now.lol. FIL might be next year.lmao

I understand everyone’s rants and disappointments about the recent news about 2ne1 but I think others are taking it too far. We don’t even know what’s the truth behind this mv setback but here we are with our know-it-all attitude. excuse me for my words and I apologize if ever some of you might get offended. I know it seems really unfair not to have a badass mv for badass girls, I’m also quite apprehensive about this home-video but the bottomline here is, the girls are taking new heights and showing new sides. I know that we are used to their badass mv sets and badass image, but the girls even said they want to show another side of them that is sweet, carefree but still bad (bad not meaning bad but bad meaning good you know). The accusation of not spending too much money for the girls, I think is way too overboard. You know, in business like theirs…it is pretty much given that they are well funded (considering 2ne1 is one of the aces of YG) and I know for sure that they also have sponsors to produce for that. It is just that, we are seeing new things from YG that we thought of these changes as something that will fail. I also never thought of FIL MV set as cheap just so you know. It matches well with the image that the girls want to relay, laidback and cool. It is also GOOD that YG didn’t delay the release of their next song because he could really do that but he chose to go on and not to further complicate things and cause more delays. Just to share my thoughts or whatever…I think they are trying to prepare us for the last song which I think will be the highlight. I don’t know…but that’s what I’m feeling. I just hope that instead of feeling disappointed, let’s just all be happy that our queens are back and really back. They started really well with FIL and guestings. I’m actually excited what will they do to Do You Love me and it’s actually the song that we repeatedly play and buy right? MVs are just bonuses and another marketing strategy and it’s actually the girls we are supporting right? who knows, maybe their Do you love me CB stage is more than we can handle. haha.

  5. Cira's avatar

I’m a little disappointed, only because I want the best for 2ne1. However I’m willing to wait and see what they come up with. I hope YG realizes just how strong 2ne1’s appeal is on the international scene. These four girls as a team have really touched the hearts of women (not to mention guys) all over the world. When I look at 2ne1 I don’t think “K-pop” but rather girl power, sisterhood, best friends, humor, and all around loveable girls.

  6. dy's avatar

i am sooo mad at yg right now like a lot of you are. high fashion and creativity mv is what i expect from yg. now that cheap background from falling in love and the camera movements were shaky too. now we are getting home style video for a up beat song like i am the best? really?

i am worry cause a lot yg artists are coming back so the attention will be them not really on 2ne1. right now is the time to let 2ne1 shine, but yg seems not want to spend money on them.

  7. Nana's avatar

This is unrelated but Kshownow.net has the RunningMan episode subbed!

  8. fan's avatar

I am really excited for their new mv! Really. haha i really dont care how much would they spend for an mv ( i just hope the editing of the vid is good then its going to be fine). And knowing the girls, their candidness always gives them the edge amongst the other girl groups so ithink this home made mv will work.

  9. Liv's avatar

Sorry for ranting, i said almost 2 years coz i dont consider i love you promotions as a CB, they barely promote that song :(((

  10. Liv's avatar

they only CB for one song with a cheap backdrop and YG is basically telling us that they do not have an MV for the 2nd one coz it looks they do not have time for it.. LOL, i thought 2013 is 2ne1’s golden year??? LOL, why cant we complain? These girls deserve so much better than this. With all the YG artists comeback, i just really hope they can focus on 2ne1 more. REMEMBER, WE ONLY HAVE 1 SONG AFTER WAITING FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS, WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO COMPLAIN!!!

U read my mind!!!!yeah…i remember an article about his promises to focus on 2ne1…that men can’t keep his promises TAT Liv for 2ne1 President!!!!

  11. Liv's avatar

The stupid thing is that they are gone for almost 2 years, and YG does not even plan on 2ne1’s comeback on that time? Wow, i really think that YG is not planning for 2ne1 CB this year but YG wants to debut his GG and plan for them on that span of time but because a few people are interested on them, he does not pursue it and hastily make 2ne1’s come back in a cheapest way he can. I thought YG prides himself as a quality guy and now this, tsk tsk tsk. I hope i am wrong, but it looks like YG is the one sabotaging 2ne1 in order to make way for his GG.. These are all my opinion… Sorry it is just it hurts seeing 2ne1 come back like this :(((

  12. rei's avatar

Rather than be disappointed and moan and whine that Papa YG is not cherishing 2ne1 as he should by having the most expensive MV and stuff. Why not focus on the fact that they’re doing this, so us Blackjack won’t have too wait? Seriously. Why can’t we just support them unconditionally? Our girls are brave and fierce to try different things everytime. We should accept that our queens are like that. NOT boring. ATYPICAL but in a very good way.

  13. BJ4life's avatar

Lots of worrisome in here, there’s a lot of artists that do home videos as their official MV and it works like Lazy Song by Bruno Mars, don’t worry maybe YG is saving for their 4th single maybe he wants the last song to be like WOW! 🙂 i’m actually curious! can’t wait!

  14. abie's avatar

Yg disappointed me for a lot of times already, but i always end up loving the outcome..so i won’t judge this home video for now..we’re talking about 2ne1 anyway:)

rather than complaining im looking forward to that… with the girls creativity im sure they can pull it off… and if im not mistaken it will be the first time in kpop industry to do home video… so it can be a new trend… 🙂

Is Papa YG saying this is not the official MV yet? If it’s not, then I do want to see the home video as it will be like an episode of 2NE1TV….well sort of…and that does sound interesting to me…hwaiting!!

  17. 2ne1blackjack4ever's avatar

To be honest, i feel like papa yg is trying to invest as little money as possible to 2ne1 now… I dont wanna talk about mv set of FIL, it jst too…. Too cheap … Not standard, it doesnt reach the standard of yg mv… N now do u love me with home mv? With phone camera n old camera? Come on!!!!! T.T i really hope what i assume right now is wrong…. So today is 30th, 8 days to go… Hmmmmm

What are you guys talking about, they’ve only had like two/three ‘hopeless romantic songs’ (which in my mind, it’s not much really, compared to how many songs are not like that from them). FIL was meant to have a little bit of a low budget video because it’s a summer song. They wanted to do something very laid back and a little bit more cliché because, yeah, they haven’t tried before. That doesn’t mean they’re gonna be like that from now on and for the rest of 2ne1’s life. Let them try something new, especially now that’s summer. If you note, a lot of Kpop groups have a tendency to put a little less effort on videos and songs during this time of the year, actually, some western singers do as well, and that doesn’t mean they’re being lousy or uncaring. As to the video for DYLM, it’s not like they did it on purpose. Actually, they could have done a good video with a high budget but that would delay the dates of release and instead they just thought, why not a home video. I personally think that’s cute and thoughtful since the girls nor YG wanted to make us wait longer. I’m grateful and in the end, it’s their songs I’m playing on my iPod, not their videos, and there’s always a new video that can make you happy in the future.

            This! Yes.

          • MJ1206's avatar

I think most of the blackjacks don’t have issues with the laid back setting but I guess it was more like of a high expectations to fan and non-fans alike. For a comeback especially coming from 2ne1, a lot was expecting a good mv, if not really that expensive at least it was well thought of. MV plays a big role for a song to become successful so I hope this home video will do justice to their new song. And I would rather have them promote longer FIL while at the same time finish the MV for DYLM. I still see poor planning from YG (and the overlapping promotions my goodness!). I’m just trying to convince myself that this is just a phase where they are trying to find a new concept and not YG being a lackluster over 2ne1 (because this is what I’m seeing). Hope to be proven wrong. ^^

The style of the song sound cool.^^ I’m holding back judgement on the mv idea until I see it…you never know how it will turn out.

film with mobile phones?!!!WTH!!!…….Expensive MV(Im the best) vs Cheap MV(Do you love me)???….who will win the best MV???

  20. MJ1206's avatar

Why do i feel like YG is trying to squeeze in everything for 2ne1 just for the heck of it and I sense lack of planning. FIL’s promotion is too short. Now we are getting a home video…for a IATB-like song? FIL was a good song but not enough to make a best comeback and I was hoping the next single would really be the TASTE OF 2NE1’s comeback. Sigh. I would be happy to be proven wrong.

  21. Fair's avatar

” home video style can work ” , really ? Most of the bjs are waiting for the cool & luxurious mv to match wif the song like “I Am The Best” ~ Frankly speaking , no matter the stalling incident is true or not , we’ been waiting for 1 year already , this is such a long time for YG to prepare & arrange the schedule for 2ne1’s new album , YG should distribute the works properly instead of rushing out the mv hastily ><

  22. erikcat's avatar

I am a bit apprehensive about this “home video” feel YG wants to pursue. If the song is as fierce as that of I am the Best, I’m afraid it won’t suit the theme or aura of the song. Home videos are usually laidback. I wonder how they will work their way into achieving their desired outcome? I can just hope and pray for the best.

  23. joy (@akikisetsu)'s avatar

Saw this OL, wonder if it’s true….

… maybe ppl are trying to mess with 2ne1 comeback date and stall their comeback… there are now rumors from netizens that a company that is using the MV producer at the moment are intentionally stalling so the MV producer wont “have time too shoot it in time” and stall the 2ne1 filming dates. But yg is smarter than that, he wont let anybody delay 2ne1 comeback so as a last resort chose home video style taping.

    …..hmmmmm….shady……

    • Molly's avatar

Shady indeed. If that’s true, I still know YG has high standards and it’s above any average company so in the case of someone wanting to sabotage a project, they know how to back it up.

I think they change it because of the result of the falling in love. FIL only won on the first week so that’s why they decided to focus on view rather than trophies.

  27. shari's avatar

Thats why dara, was holding a tab with do you love me..on it.. Hehe.. Im a little concern about the music video making.. If the song is greater than the IATB, then it needs a good and better MV to suite the song.. But YG wants it to be more natural.. I dont know if it will fit the song.. Making it natural makes me worried 😦 but let just wait for the outcome.. Maybe thats why they went bowling with a camera man.. Maybe they were filmibg already for the MV

  28. ilovekrungy's avatar

    wohhh..cant wait….
