It’s not an overstatement to say this year is 2NE1’s year. Out of all the girl groups, 2NE1 is especially remarkable. They got attention even before their debut, and for a girl group that only debuted this year they already have had 3 hits: “Lollipop”, “Fire” and “I Don’t Care”, which has solidified them as a huge success. If you count Park Bom’s “You And I” you could even say they had 4 straight hits.

2NE1 started off by breaking off from the typical girl group image. “Fire” was a girl hip-hop song that would be hard to hear from any girl group. The beats were complex and the song could’ve potentially been buried without any attention.

But 2NE1 took the chance, and “Fire” was met with huge success and had a huge effect on 2NE1’s image. Like 2NE1, “Fire” was new, fresh and fierce, so the song had more meaning than just its success. Then, 2NE1 performed the relatively safe melodic song “I Don’t Care” which also received much love. The lyrics weren’t the typical bubblegum lyrics, but were words that appealed to many girls as the song imagined a girl’s thoughts as they talked to their girl friends. Afterward, Sandara Park’s “Kiss” also got some popularity as well as “You And I”, which became hugely popular without any performances.

Netizens: CL and Dara’s Expression are cute!

TVDaily – Girlgroup, 2NE1’s CL and Sandara Park unveiled themselves through a photograph in their me2day.

2NE1’s CL made an update on her me2day showing a picture of her and fellow teammate Sandara Park together in interesting poses and expressions. The release of the photos in the group’s me2days are a joy to the fans.

CL and Dara were shown in a waiting room wearing comfortable clothes. CL wore a sour-looking face, while Dara in the background, was shown waving a hand to the camera, seemingly to say “Hi” to fans.

Netizens find the expressions of the two members to be cute and charming, especially Dara’s animated waving in the back.

“1121 U KNO WHAT DAY THAT IS”, is the caption to the 2NE1 leader’s update.

November 21 is the date of the MAMA (MNet Asian Music Awards), where 2NE1, who are nominated for several awards, including the Best Newcomer Award, have been asking fans to support them.

Similarly, the girls’ youngest member, Gong Minzy made an update referring to the MAMA Awards with the caption, “Did you vote for the MAMA Awards already? Upcoming MAMA! Minzy, go get ‘em!”

2NE1’s group activities are on hiatus as the girls are preparing for their solo album.

Dara and Thunder show their sibling love?

After the Power of Love Concert, power siblings Dara and Thunder of 2NE1 and MBLAQ are back to show their brother-sisterly love yet again with matching… hairstyles?

Although the oh-so-dorky Dara is known for her 4D ways, it looks like her brother is, well, stealing her thunder with some hilarious antics. On MNet’s The Art of Seduction, MBLAQ’s new reality program, the boys were given a mission to invite kpop’s top stars for their fan meeting. Netizens are abuzz with the discovery that Thunder wore a long hair wig to meet top-star Jeon Ji Hyun! With this wig, he looked like none other than his sister, Sandara.

Stay tuned to the first episode today as Rain will also make a surprise appearance, at 6PM KST.

News: Dara and UEE’s thoughts on F.O.

What did UEE and Dara think of Family Outing?

As we reported last month, the next guests to join SBS’s Family Outing are the poster girls of After School and 2NE1, UEE and Dara, With two big name idols like these, many have been anticipating the appearance of these two gals in a natural setting like that of Family Outing.

UEE and Dara joined the Family for their two day shooting in Jindo, an island off of south western coast of Korea.

The producer of the show praised them on a phone call with Newsen, saying

“UEE and Dara were very excited for the shooting. Although they didn’t   have much experience in a show like this, they fit right in. Their cooking skills were fantastic as well. Overall, they showed a lot of cuteness.“

We all know that the Family is full of older gentlemen, and as you might have guessed, they shared the love many of us have for these two girls. Also, there is usually some unseen power struggle between girls when female guests show up – Hyori is known to be the jealous type. However, nothing of the sort happened in this video – in fact, Hyori is a 2NE1 fan and has shown her support for 2NE1 on multiple occasions on this show.

The episode is set to air around mid November.

News: G-Dragon and Sandara Park chosen as idols who could pursue acting

Sidus HQ Training Center C.A.S.T. by iHQ, a center for training actors in Korea, took a survey of which idol star would succeed in acting.

The survey was open for 5 days from October 28th to November 1st and in the end Big Bang’s G-Dragon won 217 votes taking the lead for the male category and 2NE1’s Sandara Park won 292 votes doing the same for the female category.

The runner-ups were Ok Taecyeon of 2PM and Sulli of f(x). Taecyeon earned 174 votes while Sulli earned 143 votes. Though SHINee’s Minho lost by a lot he came in third with 16 votes. SNSD’s Yuri was third for the girls with 114 votes.

The people who took the survey reasoned that G-Dragon has given great acting performances in Big Bang’s music videos and he always gives a powerful performance on stage. People also commented that if he became an actor he could take on any kind of role from a cute boy to a charismatic guy.

For Sandara Park, she has already had some experience in acting and she looks very young for her age so she could play younger and older parts. She’s also famous for having all kinds of facial expressions which could come in handy for her acting.

2nd place Taecyeon was chosen because of his acting as a “beast” on stage as well as his ability to pull off many different styles. Sulli has also had past acting experience when she was young and always manages to look camera-ready.

Minho has the looks that could get him a part on Boys Over Flowers, which in people’s opinions affects one’s acting skills. For Yuri, she seems to have a pure and innocent image that could work well with acting.

I know G-Dragon or Sandara Park will most likely win this one but think about it. This is not a poll on who has the most amount of play counts on your iPod.

Can we request to Papa YG to give them a drama or a movie perhaps? A romantic comedy is perfect!!! They would pull it off nicely without exerting any extra efforts! Natural acting, cos they’re for real! LOL.
