YG Entertainment Falls Short On First Half Revenue But Is Expected To Recover This Second Half

YG Entertainment has fallen short from the expectations with their first half of the year result of their agency’s earnings. YG Entertainment has revealed their first half of the year report on the 30th of May and they have made 17.9 billion won in total sales and operating profit of 3 billion won with net profit of 3.6 billion won. Although the numbers are impressive it has fallen short compared to their numbers on the same period last year. Their earnings for the same period compared to last year fell 2.5% and 15.3% on their operating profit.
Nevertheless, YG Entertainment was able to rake more than 20 billion won for the first half which is huge but shows a huge gap in the market compared to SM Entertainment’s 38.4 billion won sales for the first half of this year. YG Entertainment seemed to have started the year a little slower but experts say the company will manage to recover for the second half.
Experts say for the second half, it will be big for YG Entertainment and they will rapidly recover. The YG Family Concert in Japan and Big Bang and 2ne1’s album sales in Japan will be reflected in the second half earnings as well as the upcoming Big Bang world tour, repacked album release and 2ne1’s comeback. Experts say that they are expecting more or less around 29.6 billion won in operating profit and 74 billion won in sales and revenue byt the second half.

Reblogged this on edherei.
It’s already been said, SME has a lot more artists than YGE so it’s expected that SME has a much larger revenue.
maybe they loose some profit cuz..of the rumors last year..i think they only recover early this year when bigbang comeback..anyway thats still lot of money..wait until this end of the year that figure will be double..of course sme most of their artist are promoting right now.and knowing yg he is not s corrupt ceo he gave back what his artist earned..yg artist and yge fighting!!
Isnt it that big bang is the only one really active during the 1st half? Gummy and psy have singles here and there but that’s just it. 2ne1 has japan but i think the earnings are more from korea. And SM have soo many artists who were very active in the past months. I agree that YG will no doubt regain any losses and will earn more in the coming months.
YG should learn from SM how to promote their music/artist!!!i think SM has a good PR team!!
sm’s winning formula= super catchy/addictive songs+ great/powerful dance choreography+ sexy/girly outfits.
2ne1 needs to get better dance moves+addictive songs ASAP!!!!!!!
uhm no, we don’t need catchy songs, we need good musics, that’s what YG and 2NE1 offer us 🙂
I meant music
whatever….I JUST WANT 2NE1 TO WIN ALL THE AWARDS LIKE SNSD DID EVERY YEARS!!!!THAT’S ALL!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FOR CATCHY SONGS
2NE1 is about music and performance
wow YG you only have a few groups but look at those numbers.
SM is expected to have more profit cause most of their groups or artists are really in par with popularity. Not to be biased but only 2ne1 and BB are adding huge profit to YG
Oh wow! And to think YG’s best selling artists are only Bigbang & 2NE1 yet he still gained a lot of profits inspite of the shortfall with only these two great artists. What more if he has more boy/ girl groups in the future with equal amount of talented groups like BB & 2NE1. He’ll gain more earnings with his great marketing strategy plus of course releasing quality songs/MV’s.
