Interview: 2NE1’s Interesting And Fun Interview With HMV, Part 2

YAY! Done with Part 2!

Please comment, it really gives us more boost and encourages us to translate faster. Haha!

Here they talk about their Japanese plans, gives interesting answers regarding YG Family Concert, and tells a funny incident while recording GO AWAY with Teddy! ^^

Enjoy reading!

Q: What do you want to do in Japan in the future?

CL: For our current Japan promotions, we’re doing Japanese versions of our Korean songs. I’d like us to release original Japanese songs in the future.

BOM: If there’s a chance, I think I’d like to try solo activities.

DARA: I want to study Japanes more. I think it would be good if I can be interviewed without the need of an interpreter.

MINZY: I want to practice singing and dancing more, so I can give a better performance.

Q: Tell us your ideal type in men.

CL: If I answer that question truly, it would be very long (laugh). First of all, he has to be masculine (T/N: like manly). And then, also honorable and respectful.

BOM: I want a person who loves only me! Please give me lots of love! (laughs)

DARA: I dream of a beautiful love, like that in a movie. The character Rui in “Boys Over Flowers” who has a princely attitude is my type. I think a person who is romantic is good.

MINZY: I think a person with good values and with great sense is good. It’s icing on the cake already if he has the same hobbies and interests as mine.

Q: Everyone is sophisticated, and you guys are already known as fashion leaders among the youth, please give us some fashion points.

CL: I think the most important thing about fashion is that it’s supposed to fit you. Recently, I’ve been going for simple styles.

BOM: I love short dresses. I also like body-fitting clothes.

DARA: I like dressing comfortably, casual styles. When I dress, it’s not for show. My condition is to have one accent or two. For example, wearing a colorful hat with a muted outfit.

MINZY: I dress according to my mood. Sometimes, I like the boyish style, and sometimes I like to dress cutely.

Q: During the Japan tour, lots of fans copied your fashion, what do you think of the Japanese fans’ fashion sense?

CL: I think that Japanese people are really fashionable. People wear a lot of various styles. Even with their hair and make-up, there are a lot of different styles that they try.

BOM: I think they’re very stylish. I was walking around with these clothes (the same as GO AWAY jacket photoshoot) in Harajuku, but honestly, it felt comfortable and I didn’t feel the need to change because a lot of people were walking around in different styles. Everyone is unique really, and everyone has their own sense of style.

DARA: They aren’t like other people who are concerned about what others think of their style, they’re people who have their personal style and owns it. I think I should be getting tips from them.

MINZY: They have a good fashion sense! They have a distinct personality, and it shows in their clothes.

Q: Being new to Japanese, singing a song in it must have been difficult. Please tell us a story about your experiences with the lyrics while recording.

CL: In the lyrics, “Why did I love you? (T/N: Naze ga suki dattan darou)” there was that line. That phrase in Japanese, is similar to Korean (T/N: like the Japanese words have a similar Korean word). “Naze” means “noon” in Korean, “suki” is “ski,” “datta” is “ride,” while “darou” is similar to Dara’s nickname. So it was like “Dara, who is skiing during noon,” and it was so strange that I couldn’t stop laughing during the recording! (laughs)! It upset our producer TEDDY so much!

DARA: Yes, it was really fun, and we couldn’t stop laughing about it, so he said “If you want to laugh, get out of my studio!” he was really angry at that time! (laughs)

Q: You have some more time to spend in Japan, what are the places that you would want to visit in Japan?

CL: I want to quickly show our music video first to everyone, before I go visit.

BOM: I want to go to the hot springs. When I see them in Japanese dramas, the actors and actresses seem so happy when they go there? There’s no open air bath back in Korea, so I want to try!

DARA: When we come to Japan, we barely have any free time, but there was free time after work last night, and I got to go out. It felt really good.

MINZY: I really like Gundams, so I would like to go to Akihabara (T/N: It’s the place where Bandai first opened their first Gundam cafe).

Q: Are you influenced by any Japanese musicisians?

CL: During my childhood, my father who likes rock music, would listen to Japanese rock, so I would always hear it too. I don’t know the artists, but sometimes, when I go on walks in Japan, I can hear the artists singing the same songs on TV.

BOM: There’s a Japanese group, Speed, which I think is very good.

DARA: During my trainee days, there was this movie that I watched called “Song Of The Sun,” and I really liked how Yui-ssi played the guitar when she was singing “Goodbye Days,” so I was inspired to learn the guitar. It’s the song that introduced me to Japanese music.

MINZY: I really like Koda Kumi-ssi. A while ago, I met her in a pop song music program, and at that time, I received a Live DVD, and I was so happy! That night, as soon as I could, I watched the DVD, and I studied her facial expressions and singing techniques, and was so impressed.

Q: “YG Family Concert” is expected to be held in Japan, what would 2NE1 want to show to the fans?

CL: Of course, it’s not just 2NE1, but there’s also Se7en, Gummy, Big Bang, and Psy, who are all fabulous artists, and with such talented personalities, I think we would be able to show a wide range of talents too. In addition, there’s also the process of creating the stage. I think it would really be good, so please anticipate it.

BOM: As it’s called “YG Family,” the whole family would be doing a special show. Nothing is certain for now, but we’d like to perform Big Bang songs. It would also be cool to see if other artists would want to do 2NE1 songs too!

DARA: Since it’s the biggest family concert, I think that the things to watch is the collaboration with the different (YG) artists. It’s not yet decided though who will sing what song, we’re still waiting for what kind of music we will do.

MINZY: Everyone in YG Fasmily have strong personalities as artists, and I think that with all those personalities combined on stage, it would really show strong and different performances. I really want all of you to come for this concert like you did for “NOLZA!”

Interview: 2NE1’s Fun And Informative Interview On HMV, Part 1

The interview is so long, OTL, sorry you guys! Here’s Part 1! Will translate Part 2!

Here they talk about NOLZA, Go Away, It Hurts, and relationships (sort of)! Enjoy!

Please don’t forget to leave a comment okay? ^_^

Q: Your debut mini-album “NOLZA” was the number one ranked album in Oricon Weekly charts. Congratulations! Please tell us your sentiments.

CL: I was really glad. Although everyone’s reaction to our debut was a bit surprising, I was really happy.

BOM: The results were very surprising, it’s more than what we expected. With this, I think that I really need to study Japanese more.

DARA: It’s the first time that we were promoting in a country other than Korea, and I really thought that a lot of people still don’t know 2NE1. With these thoughts, being in Number 1, was only a dream. We promise to work harder in the future!

MINZY: I was very happy to hear that we ranked number 1. But what’s even more awesome is that a lot of people were showing interest in 2NE1.

Q: Your first Japan Tour, mobilized a total of 70,000 people, and it’s also a big achievement. Please tell us your opinions of the tour.

CL: Our first Japan concert, I think, was really fun and good? It gives off that feeling. I feel that we are in “Concert Addiction State,” right now. (laughs)

BOM: So many people came, and I was so happy! There were also a lot of fans who came dressed like 2NE1, it added a lot to our excitement! Someday, I’d want us to hold a concert at Tokyo Dome!

DARA: Our first concert tour was really a happy and marvelous time. With this opportunity, I’d really like to hold many concerts, in many other different places.

MINZY: From the beginning of the concert, everybody was already standing up, dancing and singing along with us, and it really felt like “NOLZA (play)” so because of that, I enjoyed it a lot!

Q: In the concert, you already revealed “GO AWAY” publicly, and now you will be releasing it officially. Please give us your thoughts.

CL: “Go Away” is the song for all women who are broken-hearted. Because it is a song that has an upbeat tempo, we performed it as the concert’s encore song. I think it’s a song that everyone can dance and sing to.

BOM: The melody is very pleasant, and it’s the kind of song that’s very nice to listen to.

DARA: In the concert performance, we directed it like a musical. I think people would appreciate it as a fun song.

Q: Then please tell us about the music video.

CL: In the music video, my drawings were there as decorations. In the scene where all four of us come out, my pictures were there, so please watch out for them (laughs).

BOM: It’s something that i wanted to try out before, a bubble bath scene (laughs)! It came out both cute and sexy, I think!

DARA: This time, I really wanted my cat to appear in it (laughs). But he was too scared during the shooting and we couldn’t shoot him properly, so he only appeared in the video for a few seconds (laughs).

MINZY: I appeared with my pet dog (laughs). She wore the same hat as mine, and I’d like to give her the Best In Acting award (laughs).

Q: I have a question about the lyrics. The song talks about how a woman stays strong despite a broken heart, what would be your behavior if that same case happened to you personally?

CL: That’s a secret! (laughs) I think that if I were to experience this, I’d want to be encouraged, as what we have sung in this song.

BOM: Personally, I’m the type of woman who has a straightforward attitude, but I think it depends on the situation, so it’s a by case basis. I think it also depends on the nature of the man, so it’s really case to case.

DARA: I don’t really know because I don’t have a lot of dating experience. But I think I’d be a bit like our coupling track “It Hurts” where I would cry and wait for them, but I’d really want to be like the wonderful woman in “Go Away” who is cool.

MINZY: I really don’t have any experience in love (laughts). However, I feel like it would be really mixed with my actions. My “mind” would tell me one thing, I guess, but my “heart” would tell me another.

Q: For example, one of the other members or another friend, goes through a heartbreaking experience, what would be your course of action?

CL: I’d take her to dinner toegther and listen to her. I’ll pay attention to her story, and then I’ll try to distract her so she’ll be able to move on eventually.

BOM: I’d also listen to her story first.

DARA: Perhaps, since I don’t have experience, the best to do in this situation, is to lend a listening ear? Then I’ll just continue to be at their side, and if they ask for my thoughts, I’ll tell them what I think.

MINZY: I’ll take her to a meal together and listen.

Q: Your coupling track “IT HURTS” speaks about the sorrow of a woman and her delicate heart, what can we expect from this song?

CL: It’s a jazz ballad, and it was a new challenge for 2NE1, so please look out for that song.

BOM: During the recording, I really felt empathetic to the lyrics, so I was crying and it got recorded. You can hear it if you listen well.

DARA: I remember that while recording it, everyone got hold of our emotions, so we sounded like we were really in pain. Although it is a really sad song, it’s strange in a way that you can listen to it all day long, without getting sick of it.

MINZY: I think that the song speaks of something that everyone has experienced at one point, so it’s a song that’s sympathetic with everybody.

Q: When you have a break or if you were given a holiday, what is it that you’d want to do?

CL: I’d draw pictures. During our last holiday, I got into a cooking class. I learnt how to do French cuisines.

Q: What kind of cooking are you most confident in?

CL: Pasta, French onion soup, and others.

DARA: She also makes good cookis and desserts! They’re very delicious!

MINZY: I think her orange pudding was the most delicious (laughs)!

Q: For someone who is charismatic and energetic on stage, CL seems to be the family type among the members?

CL: I don’t think I’m the family type.

BOM: CL says she isn’t, but she’s really the family type. CL and Minzy are both like that.

Q: What’s MINZY’s specialty in cooking?

MINZY: I cook a lot of Korean dishes. Recently, I’m also into knitting, I already gave some of my works to Bom and Dara, although I haven’t given anything to CL yet. (laughs)

Q: What does BOM want to do during holidays?

BOM: I’d like to watch Japanese dramas.

Q: What drama have you watched recently?

BOM: The drama “Zenkai Girl” was really fun! I really would like to study Japanese in order to enjoy it more.

Q: What about DARA?

DARA: I like playing with my cat, that is if he wakes up long enough from sleeping. I wake up early in the morning so we could play early (laugh).
