HK FilMart: Finecut Tunes in to Sandara Park Music Drama ‘One Step’
Leading Korean indie sales company Finecut has picked up rights to “One Step,” a music drama starring top K-pop girl band 2NE1’s member Sandara Park, TV veteran Han Jae-seok, and rising indie actor Cho Dong-in, who is managed by Finecut’s own talent management wing.
Currently in post-production, the new Juhn Jai-hong film sees a girl who lost her memory and hears sounds in colors after a car accident, a composer and a rock guitarist who offer to help find her past by completing the song that she hears in her dream.
As a former Kim Ki-duk protégé, Juhn directed a stellar Kim-produced debut feature “Beautiful,” which premiered in Panorama at Berlin in 2008. His follow-up, “Poongsan” was also written and produced by Kim. “Step” is Juhn’s second film without Kim’s touch, following 2014’s “Gifted.”
Produced and presented by MCC Entertainment, a production house better known for its sound track productions for TV dramas such as “Jewel in the Palace,” “Step” is set for a local theatrical release later this year.
