True. I used to only give donations to charity and forget about it-like it didn’t really seep into my “awareness” or something. Until a colleague invited me to her volunteer work in a nursing home. I spent only half a day with them but it really “affected” me to the core. The adage that you’ll never know how another lives until you put on their shoes is true. You really need to personally “experience” SOME things for it to affect changes in your awareness or understanding. And hopefully, your behavior after that.
