We have speculated over this for a long time already and I guess things are official now. 2NE1 is NOT attending the MNET Asian Music Awards 2012. YG Entertainment Official Application just updated their schedule of attendees for MAMA 2012 and 2NE1 is not one of them. Sad right? I already asked a friend too and 2NE1 has no flights for Hong Kong scheduled. 2NE1 will be busy with a Press Conference for New Evolution Singapore at that time. This will be the very first year since 2NE1’s debut that they will not attend MAMA. You guys remember right? They have had pretty epic stages in this year-end award show.
But then again, there is still a slim chance that YG will change his mind and 2ne1 will attend. We can always think positive right? But when you think about it, 2NE1 only released one single this year and with not so stellar promotions at that.

I gonna said that it’s a bad new that 2NE1 don’t join mnet 2012 😦 i’m alway the big fan of 2NE1 and for this year if 2NE1 don’t attend mnet i’m not going to turn on the tv and watch mama cos there won’t be anything if 2NE1 doesn’t go. I also want to tell 2NE1 that’s they don’t hav enough responsibilities for their fan that they put their name on the vote list in mama but they don’t attend . THey should be more brave to fight with other group to get mnet award instead of hidding their own .

i’m not surprised with this at all. considering that they only released ILY plus their world tour, i already anticipated that there’s a slim chance that they’re going to attend MAMA. although it’s really disappointing, for me it’s better that they don’t attend. remember MAMA 2011 when GG attended MAMA and won as the artist of the year in spite of having released only one song,”the boys”,there were so many people who got disappointed saying that they don’t deserve that award. i don’t want the same thing to happen to 2ne1. i don’t want other people to say hurtful things to them. them not attending is better than to deal with those kind of criticisms afterward.
with YG, i’m a little disappointed with him but still i give credit for what he have done for 2ne1 for the past 3 years though this year may not be at par with the other 2. it’s not easy to be a company president. we’re not the one in his shoes so we don’t know how it feels like to be one. the pressure, the stress, it’s all in another level for him. so we should understand his situation. it’s easy to blame others but it isn’t when you’re the one who’s being blamed. i’m sure 2ne1 and YG already talked through this situation. let’s just respect and believe that their decision is definitely for the better.
my thinking is like this because for me, 2ne1 is so blessed. them being able to perform and win daesang awards on MAMA for 3 consecutive years is no joke. think about the other idols that don’t even get that chance. the idols that are still dreaming to be on MAMA stage.
though it pains me that they won’t attend, still it’s okay. it’s better for me to wait for their comeback. for them to bring new songs. quality is better than quantity. we shall not rush them. and even though they don’t win an award in MAMA it’s fine because for us they’re the best 🙂

REASONS WHY I FELT 2NE1 IS NEGLECTED:
1) Only releases a single but it is supposed to be a full length album.
2) They are the only artist in YG that pushes back their comeback all year long and still uncertain if they will ever come back or whether it is an album or still a single :((
3) A so called “world tour concert” that only has limited countries in it with cancellations, etc :((
4) Zero TV guesting during I love you promotions in korea…
5) Very limited I love you promotions
6) Focusing on YG’s new artist thus neglecting 2ne1 (YG said it himself)
7) Not attending MAMA for the first time :(( but attending Melon but………. oh well :((

I hate to say this but YG doesnt keep true to his words. Always promising but can never deliver on time! So frustrating!!!! He promised an album but only a single came out. Then a comeback that was pushed back until only YG knows when! I hate to say this but ever since he started widening the scope of his artists, i felt like the girls were left out on the sides. I’m standing on my belief that he’s not capable of juggling so many artists all at once like what SM can do with his artists. He has wasted so many time and opportunities already.
I’m not feeling any excitement with regards to this years MAMA. I feel empty because 2NE1 wouldn’t be gracing the stage. Despite the presence of other YG artists, the girls are the regular ones who faithfully attended MAMA ever since their debut. They are the only reason why I watched MAMA. This year suck, honestly!
All i’m wishing is for YG to release any concrete plans for them. But with the up coming debut of the new gg, and let’s not forget the Su Pearls next in line, where will 2NE1 fit in all this?! (–+)

I actually did not expect 2NE1 to be at the MAMA this year seeing that it will be held Nov 30. The next day, as we very well know 2ne1 will be busy with their Dec1 concert in Singapore so it is but logical they would have to be in Singapore the day prior for rehearsals and other activities. Let’s give YG more credit…he knows what he is doing in protecting all his artists including 2NE1…remember he has invested a lot in them to lose!
Just wanted to add…for those fans who feel YG has neglected 2NE1 this year- Cheer Up!! Deep down, you know it’s not true…in fact, if you’ve attended or seen videos of their concerts you know YG did NOT Scrimp on those productions…the sets, costumes,special effects,Talents brought in, etc were certainly lavish and expensive. Having already attended several concerts and shows in the past, 2NE1’s concert still stood out as impressive, not to mention one of the most fun!
actually, YG said it himself that he neglected 2ne1 this year in an interview, so it is true, he really neglected 2ne1….Yes, they have this world class concert that is supposed to be a world tour, but they cancelled Malaysia and Indonesia and the reason they said is due to some “technicality issues,” which i highly doubt. Their last concert will be in Singapore, right? The countries are so limited. They do not even have a European country on their so called “world tour concert” so is that a “world tour” ?? Right now, i am totally pissed at YG. With the thinking that “YG knows what he is doing.” I am worried with that coz he said it himself that he neglected 2ne1 thus there is no concrete plan for 2ne1 this year, so how about next year? with his new talents this year, i highly doubt that he can squeeze in 2ne1 in there. I voted everytime I get the chance but since 2ne1 released only 1 song this year, the chances of them winning and performing in MNET is not very high. I wish one or all of them can write or produce music so they will not be so dependent on Teddy who Iam sure is tasked and busy producing for other artists in YG. I feel that 2NE1 is too special and too much of a moneymaker for YG to be set aside. Its really hard to try and top your last act so I am expecting something unique and great from them. I agree with most of the sentiments here. Call me a faithless Blackjack, but I’m really nervous that YG is neglecting 2NE1 in favor of his younger, newer artists (PSY being the exception). It’s natural, but I really think that he wasted so many opportunities. It is always on my mind that without Dara/2NE1 I wouldn’t have known KPOP and honestly, without them I wouldn’t care much about KPOP anymore.
But I remember being this nervous before when they had a hiatus and then they gave us I AM THE BEST and that was awesome. So I am hoping they pull that off again and come back more awesome than ever. They are the type to surprise us.

It just wouldn’t be the same, but I’m not surprised they wouldn’t be in MAMA. I expected it, with only having one single this year. I’m kinda mad at YG for dropping the ball with 2NE1 this year. Their comeback kept getting pushed back and pushed back, other artists came back and had a debut, with more plans for others. We were promised an english album/American debut in 2012 that never came.
TBH, I’m kinda scared this is the beginning of 2NE1 fading into the background to be replaced by new, younger artists. I know, I know, be positive and think good thoughts and all that, but I can’t help but look at YG’s track record and feel nervous. Big Bang is the only safe YG artist, lbr.
