I have to admit, I’m kinda afraid of them debuting in Japan. With the anti-Hallyu movement, the “controversies” the tabloids keep making up to make Korean idols look bad, etc… I was kind of afraid 2NE1 wasn’t really the flavor of girl group Japan went for you know. They’re not the cute, too-bubblegum, pre-packaged idols that are accepted in Japan.
But I love that they’re selling 2NE1 as “not idols but artists”, like Big Bang. Praise be to Big Bang for paving the way. They never sold themselves through their looks or abs or super spiffy dance moves and I love that it’s carried over to their “little sisters” as well.
I hope they succeed in Japan.

oh i’m so glad they’re in japan now, I have big hopes for them in japan because i think they can be more successful in japan than in Korea 🙂 (not that they’re not successful in Korea, it’s just that i think japan music industry is different than in Korea) judging from Kara and SNSD in Japan, Kara is more successful in Japan than in Korea while SNSD is more popular in Korea. Plus fans in japan are way better than fans in Korea because in Korea there are so many antis
