There were discussions on the chatbox and we were trying to remember all of our lovely Dara’s fanboys and we said that we would try to track down one of Dara’s early fanboys that I just remembered as “theatre guy.” Funnily enough, because I really needed to rest my brain while I was at work, I managed to approximate timelines and backpage the soompi thread to find him 🙂 Hehe.

Meet Yoon Hyung Ryul, formerly known as Theatre Guy under the cut. 🙂 He’s quite pretty 🙂

As we correctly dubbed him, Yoon Hyung Ryul is a theatre/musical actor. At the time of his interview with 10asia found HERE (CLICKIE!), our fanboy was playing Quasimodo in a staging of the Hunchback of Notre Dame.  This interview actually caused some violent reactions in the old soompi thread because of what was translated that he said about Dara, despite his fanboy declaration. The translation is as follows (with attached credits :D):

And to say anything, I am going to try hard so when I say “Four one”, people will not ask “Are you 4minute’s twins?” (laughs) Whenever I do interviews, they ask why I say “four-one” and I reply that “I am 2NE1’s fan and Choi Soohyung hyung is 4minute’s fan, so that’s why I say ‘Four-one.'” (Laughs)

Yoon Hyungryul: Even though I like skills, I like Sandra Park the best. Hahaha.

Some people reacted to his answer, but I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it. Perhaps it sounds a little bit harsh, but I think that it only sounds bad because it’s a direct lift, verbatim translation.  I don’t think he meant exactly what the translation says. There’s a lot of nuance in language that gets lost in translation, hence the saying. I personally don’t think it’s a diss, but rather he paid more attention to other sides of her. I can totally see him appreciating her stage presence and charisma (aside from her obvious gorgeousness, lol).

Let’s just appreciate his love for Dara instead of nitpicking 😀 Fanboys are always appreciated! 🙂 Yay for Dara Love! ❤
