This post took forever because I had to make caps, and with my wonky connection it was tough to gain access to the vids I wanted. Don’t ask why anymore. LOL. Also, added the new tag for Fanboy as was discussed in the chatbox. I figured there was no better time to add it.

Park Hae Jin manages to maneuver around the requisite family photo to stand behind Dara. Covert mission accomplished, fanboy. Congratulations! Have an obnoxious purple heart around the photo of the two of you. Kekeke!

I love Dara’s fanboys, with the number one reason is that I have a theory stating:  Fanboying Dara = Fanboying many things I approve of = Good taste.  LOL. Park Hae Jin happens to be one of my fave Dara fanboys, so I paid extra attention to the episodes and I thought it would be fun to keep an eye out on what he would do. 🙂

The rest of the post will be a long investigative report on Family Outing and Park Hae Jin’s discreet fanboying attempts. Because of this, please read under the cut. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I said it was going to be long.

Park Hae Jin is a self-declared Dara fanboy. In case there is a need for a refresher course, he showed his inner Fandara when he went on the KBS show Champagne and promptly chose Dara over Yoona and UEE, saying that he’d been a fan of hers since the KBS Human Theater Documentary, “My Name is Sandara Park.” While there is unfortunately no english-subbed video out on the internet (that I know of), here he is on the said show. Dara only lost to Ha Ji Won, but probably because he’d liked her longer. Besides, losing to Ha Ji Won isn’t bad at all. Haha.

In any case, since then, I’d anticipated Dara’s FO appearance because I like it when fandoms collide and I actually already liked Hae Jin before he went on Champagne and made my shipping heart flutter. I really like him on FO, I love the fact that he can cook and that he sasses back but never ever really slacks off, and I also really appreciate him in his dramas. Plus he’s kind of really adorable. Win-win.  Haha.

Now, quite a few of us were disappointed when the first episode came around and GASP, no such luck on the Hae Jin/Dara front. No fake scandal, no blatant teasing. Instead, we had an episode of what seemed like him fanboying UEE. Which was pretty disappointing, and kind of really annoying when you know what he’d already said on Champagne.

HOWEVER — my knowledge of Hae Jin and Dara eventually led me to conclude that the fanboying would not be blatant, because Hae Jin doesn’t operate like that. From his interviews, the way he conducts himself when he’s just being himself, and various interviews from people he’s worked with, Hae Jin seems to be a pretty conservative, somewhat reserved guy. So he would be discreet, unless maneuvered by outside forces. He’s also a little shy with the variety show format yet. He’s not like Daesung, who got used to it quite quickly.

And he was discreet, but he didn’t let me down. LOL. After my long-winded introduction, I give you Park Hae Jin and the art of the discreet fanboy.

EPISODE 1

There really wasn’t much on the first episode on Dara, as we all knew. But Haejin managed to grab a moment or two to fanboy. 🙂

Delicate Boy makes some conversation and gets a Dara grin for his trouble. Congratulations!

In the set of consecutive images above, this was Haejin, behind all the action that was happening up front, speaking to Dara. You see him tilt his head toward her and as he speaks, you see Dara reacting, directing a smile at him (YIHEE, HAEJIN KILIG. Hah!).  I assumed it was something about dogs, or if she was okay, or something. FO cast is sweet like that.

I’m sorry my caps suck, my connection was really horrible and I couldn’t stand to download the huge awesomeness at the time. Anyway, it appears that he manages to say something to her more than once, and he’s beside her for most of this exchange. When the Jongkook-dog actually runs towards her, Haejin seems to reach his hand out to touch her arm, but I didn’t cap it because I couldn’t decided if he was just putting his arm on the fence, or doing what my tinhatting wanted him to do. Ha.

There was no fanfare for this switcheroo after Dae’s choice, but it appears that Mr. Delicate Boy chose to go to TEAM DARA (because it is awesome) when they had to help with the Jindo dog checkups. 🙂 Hae Jin was probably secretly pleased that his plan to get to Team Dara worked *maniacal laughter* — at least, I’d like to think so. He seemed to be in a giggly conversation with Dae when they were walking to start the checkups. Some man talk going on there, so they must have been pleased with themselves. 😉

Unfortunately, not much moments after the day activities because of the whole UEE being first called for the game for morning chores. No one wants to wear boots and go to a muddy beach at the crack of dawn. Not cool. And also because UEE picked him to go along with the anchovy catching chore (wise of her to pick a bunch of guys actually. LOL. Make them do all the work. ;D)

EPISODE 2

While this episode was still not chockful of FUNDARA moments with Hae Jin, we still got a lot more Dara and fanboying Hae Jin than last week. So I am pleased nonetheless.

Everyone in Family knows the Chalrang dance. It’s seems a pretty basic step, and it was pretty hilarious to see everyone so into it. But two of the cast knew the chalrang dance from the MVs and performances better than others. Only Daesung and our awesome fanboy Hae Jin remembered that to do the dance, you have to “chalrang” while turning around 😉

Now Hae Jin doesn’t really dance. Like previously mentioned (and like Jaesuk actually says during the Love Letter game with UEE), Hae Jin isn’t entirely comfortable with throwing himself into hijinks yet, much like Jongkook used to be. But he danced for FIRE. LOL. And he did several moves too, which means he’s obviously paid attention. 😀 And he got the details right. LOL. Oh Hae Jin. This is an epic fanboying moment for you. Bravo!!!

These are smaller caps (I shrank them a little to make them clearer), but you can see Hae Jin grinning like mad while clapping when she finished the end pose for Fire. He and UEE are actually the only ones left clapping at this point, and it’s so cute because he keeps clapping for several seconds. Haha! Just look at his gleeface. 😀

After Dara finishes her rice pillow pose, she says, “Oh, this wasn’t even funny” in a kind of disappointed way, and the oppas were caught just cracking up like crazy. Look at how hugely Hae Jin is laughing while looking at her admiringly. You go fanboy Hae Jin. 🙂 And his laugh was really cute too, he was just looking at her and laughing really big like he couldn’t believe she just said what she said and I think he thought it was really cute. Look at his face.

It was adorable how amused they were by her and how sweetly they encouraged her. I think she really did entertain them. You even her Shiyeon-ie saying “So cute!” when Dara was running to do her third selca pose, which everyone laughed at as well. (Which made me happy! Fellow Busan Park Siblings love Dara, yayyyyyy!)

Hae Jin discreetly fanboys by maintaining close proximity to our girl. 🙂

Throughout that morning, well after the morning game at least, Hae Jin managed to be near Dara at some point in every activity. He was sort of beside her on the walk to the fields, behind her when Jongkook was showing how to cut the rice. He was the one who helped Dara with the FIRE, he also positioned himself beside Dara during the rice cake tasting and Hyori trying to see the soup, which he really didn’t need to do. I just thought it was cute. He really isn’t the type yet on FO to fawn over someone, so because it happened quite often that he was near her, I thought it would be noteworthy.

While it can be argued that FO’s PDs told them to stand a certain way or in a certain formation, I’m quite sure that Hae Jin’s interesting position while napping before breakfast wasn’t directed. I thought it was cute that he had a direct view of Dara while it looked like he was studying his script. Maybe he needed a little inspiration. Hahaha. Or they could have all been talking before napping. I’d love to see the unseen footage of this episode! Haha!

When they were saying goodbye to the grandparents, and they took the photo that you saw above, they were beside each other and I needed to put it in here because they looked so fricking cute standing together side by side. It’s not even a fanboying moment, it’s just that I think they look really cute beside each other here.  But, like the rest of this morning’s activities, Hae Jin managed to maneuver himself to be beside her again. And managed to take a photo near her so he can keep it and treasure it and post it up in his room or something. LOL! 😀 I’ve already taken the liberty to draw the obnoxious purple heart, all he needs to do is cut it out. Haha.

Anyway, this concludes the investigative report on the Art of Discreet Dara Fanboying by Park Hae Jin. If you managed to make it this far down my long-winded argument, CONGRATULATIONS and I hope you enjoyed it. 🙂 This was fun for me, and it’s all in good fun anyway.
