[OSEN=이혜린 기자] 2NE1, who made an announcement on relay-release of new songs in the second half of the year, began to build curiosity amongst the fans as there was no further news on the topic. However, their latest move hints that perhaps the girl group is ready to unveil another song.
It was confirmed on Nov 12 that 2NE1 suddenly decided to make an appearance on Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), which was originally excluded from their schedule. Their participation in MAMA before announcing any further plans for their end-of-year song promotion is arousing many to think that they are perhaps showcasing another comeback stage at the ceremony.
The suspicion comes at an interesting time as fans have recently been leaving comments on the fan website assuming that the girl group has already filmed the music video for the new song. Taking into account the time taken for the completion of music video, 2NE1’s new song will be releasing a new song next week, and will have their comeback performances immediately following it on Nov 22 at MAMA.
2NE1’s agency YG Entertainment is known for leaving comeback news tightly hidden under veil until right before the comebacks, so 2NE1’s sudden comeback is definitely an option that would not be left out by the entertainment agency.
2NE1, in their first two songs ‘Falling in Love’ and ‘Do You Love Me’, drew much attention by steering away from their original colors and showcasing bubbly, cute and charming selves. Thus all eyes are on 2NE1 to see how they would distinguish themselves from other girl groups, while also breaking away from the usual themes to come up with something completely new and fresh.
As the idiosyncratic 2NE1 successfully wrapped up their World Tour, which was a first for a South Korean girl group, their new song release are expected to attract much attention from the international fans as well.
MAMA, the largest music festival in Asia, will be held in Hong Kong’s Asia World Expo Arena on No 22.

[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] All the members of Korea’s top boy band Big Bang (G-Dragon, Taeyang, Top, Dae Sung, Seungri) and girl band 2NE1 (CL, Dara, Bom, Minzy) are appearing in M-Net’s “WHO IS NEXT:WIN”·(“WIN”) show, a survival program that portrays the process of the birth of YG Entertainment (“YG”)’s new idol band.
Beginning from the first episode aired in the afternoon on August 23, “WIN” has been aired at 10 pm every Friday. At the end of episode 4 which will be aired on the 13, the preview of episode 5 is included and all the members of Big Bang and 2NE1 appear in it.
According to TV insiders’ remark made on the 12, Big Bang member G-Dragon and Taeyang, who are also close friends from childhood, took one of “WIN”’s Team A (Kang Seung Yoon, Lee Seung Hoon, Song Min Ho, Kim Jin Woo, and Nam Tae Hyun) and Team B (B.I, Bobby, Kim Jin Hwan, Kim Dong Hyuk, Koo Jun Hwe, and Song Yoon Hyung), to play a role of the teams’ coach and advisor.
One of the insiders said, “I cannot say which team is taken by G-Dragon and Taeyang, but both of them had a great passion to advise the junior artists by telling them about their own experience as an artist and teaching the details about singing, rap, and dance, required for a singer.”
The insider added, “Even though this episode is about a match between G-Dragon’s team and Taeyang’s team, when it is seen from a bigger picture, both of them support both of “WIN” Team A and B. Team A and B, taught by G-Dragon and Taeyang, were judged by Big Bang’s Top, Dae Sung, Seunri, and 2NE1’s CL, Dara, Bom, and Minzy. All of them gave affectionate advice to the new artists in both teams.
The preview of the match between G-Dragon’s team and Taeyang’s team will be aired on the 13 and the episode itself will be aired on the 20. The winner of the match is selected by viewers’ vote which will be conducted for a week from the 20 until the next episode.
Meanwhile, in “WIN” episode on the 13, YG’s “WIN” team A and B form a team together and visit JYP Entertainment with YG’s head Yang Hyun Suk, to have a showdown with a team of new artists of JYP Entertainment, YG’s friendly rival.

[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] 2NE1, the four-girl group consisting of CL, DARA, BOM and MINZY, is sweeping across the music world not only in South Korea but also overseas with their new song ‘DO YOU LOVE ME’.
2NE1’s new song ‘DO YOU LOVE ME’ was revealed on several online music websites on August 7 at noon.
At 8:35 p.m. on August 8 (Korean time), on the second day of its release, the song already topped 6 iTunes main single chart, Top Single Songs, in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
They ranked 4th in Hong Kong and Thailand while 10th in Cambodia, and in total 9 countries they successfully penetrated the top 10 of iTunes main singles chart.
The popular song ranked 198th in the U.S. iTunes main singles chart, where the world’s largest pop music market exists. The ranks are shown on the homepage, and considering the fact that they only show up to 200th, 2NE1’s performance is impressive.
This proves that 2NE1’s popularity is simply borderless.
‘DO YOU LOVE ME’ is keeping its position as #1 on 7 South Korean real-time music charts including Melon, Mnet, Olleh, Bugs, Naver, Daum Music and Soribada at 8 a.m.
The newest hit song is written by YG’s main producer Teddy, who has always been in charge of creating 2NE1’s hit songs, along with other producers DEE.P and LYDIA composing the song with Teddy.
After making an appearance on M Countdown on August 8, 2NE1 will appear on KBS’s Music Bank on August 9, MBC’s Show! Music Center on 10th, SBS’s Inkigayo on 11th to showcase ‘DO YOU LOVE ME’.

[스타뉴스 길혜성 기자] 2NE1, the four-girl group consisting of CL, DARA, BOM and MINZY is appearing on KBS’s traditional pop music program ‘Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook’ (‘Sketchbook’) for the first time in 4 years.
According to the information given to Star News by several related personnel from the broadcasting services on August 8, 2NE1 will be filming Sketchbook on August 27 at Yeouido’s KBS new public hall. The filmed show will be aired on August 30.
The four members, CL, DARA, BOM and MINZY appearing on the show together is the first one in 4 years since July 2009.
2NE1 announced that they will be releasing a new song every month until October, starting from the reggae-influenced ‘FALLING IN LOVE’ in July. They also told the fans that they would be seen more frequently on TV variety show and music programs. Thus appearing on ‘Sketchbook’ could be seen as part of the plans, so the fans can see them more often.
Since ‘Sketchbook’ is a performance based music program, the all-rounder 2NE1 is preparing various performances including all vocal and rap stages. Their newest song ‘DO YOU LOVE ME’ of powerful and jaunty rhythm will also be showcased on the program.

[머니투데이 김건우 기자] YG Entertainment (YGE) will be launching a cosmetic line of medium and high priced cosmetics targeting the Chinese market.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service on August 7, YGE confirmed its KRW 50 billion convertible bond investment plan in a cosmetics manufacturing and sales company Coson. On the same day, the stock-price fluctuation limit of Coson jumped when the trade opened.
Coson, since bought out by a cosmetic brand Mizon’s CEO Lee Dong-gun last October, tried to transform itself into a cosmetic company. CEO Lee was a researcher at Amore Pacific in the past.
The start of YGE and Mizon’s relationship goes back to 2007 when YG’s artist BIGBANG became a model for BB BUD, which was a brand made by Mizon’s cosmetic manufacturer Nei-on. It is said that the entertainment agency has been receiving advice from Coson in preparation to launch a cosmetic business.
Related personnel from YGE explained, “We discussed our cosmetic launch with many companies, but we decided that Coson can foster our brand.” Coson is currently building a factory in Osan, Kyeonggi province, and because the company secured its own research center, it will be able to focus on product development.
YGE will launch the medium and high priced cosmetic line targeted at women in their 20’s as early as the beginning of next year. The agency’s tactic is to target the Chinese market, which accounts for 20% of South Korea’s cosmetic export.
YGE will secure competitiveness by differentiating themselves from other existing cosmetic brands. For instance, they are materializing the idea by coming up with a new and fresh concept, like creating a cosmetic line that is suited for going clubbing.
The cosmetic industry shows concern as many Korean Wave stars including Kwon Sang-woo failed in this particular field. In December 2009, Kwon Sang-woo launched a brand called ‘Natural Tears’, but he had to pullout the store in Daegu after 6 months. Consumers who base their purchases on the quality of the product would not buy cosmetics simply because a Korean Wave star launched it.
The related personnel from YGE further explained, “The quality of Coson is guaranteed because the products are made by people from Amore Pacific. We will be participating in every level starting from product development stage, to launch a product that sets itself apart from other existing cosmetic companies.”

2NE1, a girl group made up of 4 members (CL, DARA, BOM and MINZY), ranked the top for the first time on a TV music chart show with its new song “FALLING IN LOVE”.
On July 18, 2NE1 became the winner of the music chart show “M Count Down”. The show airs live every Thursday afternoon but the July 18 show was cancelled because of Mnet’s “20’s Choice” awards ceremony.
But when Lee Soo Hyuk and Hong Jong Hyun were on the stage during the ceremony, they said that the audience would soon be able to meet M Count Down’s July 18 show’s winner. As soon as they said it, CL, the leader of 2NE1, showed up on the stage and sang “THE BADDEST FEMALE”, which was released in June as a solo. Right after her performance, rest of the 2NE1 members joined her on the stage and sang FALLING IN LOVE with the winner’s trophy on their hands because FALLING IN LOVE was the M Count Down’s winner of the day.
Right after its release on July 8, the reggae style dance music has been sweeping No.1 on many music charts both at home and abroad but this was the first time to be at the top on a major TV broadcaster’s music chart show.
Meanwhile, CL was also awarded 20’s Choice Style award at the ceremony, which was held in Ilsan KINTEX, Gyeonggi from 7 p.m.

DARA and BOM of 2NE1, also known as DOUBLE PARK, show their support for KANG SEUNG YOON.
DARA posted a photo on her me2day on July 17, along with a loving message for the rookie star, “SEUNG YOON, you are AWESOMEEE!! Go SEUNG YOON.”
In the photo, DARA holds a banner that says “YG sisters care for you, SEUNG YOON,” rooting for the YG’s youngest artist. BOM also roots for KANG SEUNG YOON in a unique and fun way by lying down on the floor using the banner as a blanket.
On July 16, KANG SEUNG YOON released a song from his new mini album, ‘IT RAINS.’ The new song has topped major music charts for two consecutive days now.
Fans on the Internet have posted comments like “DOUBLE PARK supports KANG SEUNG YOON, how nice,” “I envy KANG SEUNG YOON,” and “With the support from DOUBLE PARK, I think KANG SEUNG YOON is on course for a huge success.”
KANG SEUNG YOON is going to release his second single album, ‘WILD AND YOUNG,’ at the end of July.

[영남일보 인터넷뉴스팀] 2NE1 filming a television program, Running Man, has been captured in photographs and this is drawing much attention among the fans.
On July 16, a number of 2NE1’s photographs were uploaded on different online communities and social networking services, titled, “filming Running Man.”
The photographs were taken when the girl group was filming SBS’s Good Sunday – Running Man at Yeouido park. DARA and CL were in orange-sleeved uniform while BOM and MINZY were in pink-sleeved. But DARA’s extremely unique hair attracted most attention, as her blond hair was sticking above her head, tied into a unicorn-horn shape.
Internet users who saw 2NE1’s photographs commented, “Those who saw 2NE1 at the site are so lucky!”, ”2NE1 filming Running Man… DARA immediately catches your attention!” and “I should definitely watch the show.”
Running Man featuring 2NE1 will be aired on TV at the end of July.
