K-Pop Invasion: 2NE1 at the Prudential Center

Last Friday night, Jacky and I headed out to the Prudential Center in Newark for 2NE1, a Korean-pop group whose fan following is not only unrivaled in Asia but is also gaining unbelievable traction in the rest of the world. The stadium was packed with several thousand people who waited for hours in anticipation of 2NE1’s first US show for their New Evolutiontour.

And honestly, the performance was WELL worth the wait. This group of 4 super-cute, energetic girls (CL, Dara, Minzy, and Bom) put on a fantastic two-hour performance, filled with neon colors, confetti, laser lights, fog and smoke, huge TV projections, and a whole host of other visually arresting goodies. With each song, the audience went utterly mental with excitement––everyone was singing/rapping along, bopping their heads, and dancing away while waving fluorescent fanlights in the shape of wings.

If the night had ended there, we would’ve walked away pretty satisfied. But fortunately for us, we had the very awesome chance to go backstage to meet the girls. Needless to say, we could barely contain ourselves. Check out our photos below!!
