2NE1 cancels upcoming single + announces plan for new album in October
YG Entertainment has just notified allkpop of some changes in upcoming plans. Unfortunately 2NE1‘s upcoming single, which was scheduled to be released on July 28th originally, has been canceled. However! The girls will be returning in October with a new album instead.
According to original plans, 2NE1 had intended to release their second single three weeks after the release of “I Love You” back on July 5th. However, as their ‘New Evolution‘ tour will kick off in Seoul at the end of this week and follow with performances overseas in August and September, it was decided that the double promotions with the tour and music program performances in Korea may take too much toll on the girls. Thus, after an emergency meeting, YG Entertainment has announced that they will be scrapping the new single coming up, and instead focus on a new album release in October.
Although they are aware that some fans may be disappointed with the sudden announcement, they announced that this decision had to be made in order for the girls to focus more on their first world tour and give the producers in the agency more time to produce a higher quality album.

i’m heartbroken … but i guess i can wait , like always:-)
even if it will be delayed thats ok for me. the most important thing is the quality of music. and that they could have an ample time to promote it. i really want to see them more in variety shows.
*sigh* YG has been delaying at lot lately T_T but it’s understandable. At least we know he cares about the quality of the music and does not overwork his artists. I do wish that 2NE1’s activities were much better planned out.
To be honest, I expected this to happen.
As much as I want them to release a new song or album soon (we’ve been waiting for it for months), I also want them to focus on the concert. However, I find their world tour too rushed to the point that they are risking the girls’ health and creating delays on their album release. It just shows YG’s poor planning for the girls, which is also understandable with Big Bang’s comeback and the new lineup of artists who are waiting to debut as well as the comebacks of GD and Taeyang. I believe YG has a lot on his plate and is compromising his artists.
I hope this will serve as a lesson for him in future planning.
Maybe I should teach him how to make a Gantt Chart so the artists’ schedules won’t be conflicting. Hahahaha!!!
Nevertheless, I will still support my girls all the way!! So excited for the New Jersey concert!!!! ^_____^
LOL! Are you by chance a graduate student? I seriously laugh out loud at your mention of a gantt chart!! Yea I also didn;t expect their new single to drop because the girls wont have enough time to promote it! I wonder what is happening to their US debut and the new YG girl group? I think YG needs to have better time management or hire more people to sort all the details! Still I am very excited by this news! Have been waiting for their new album for a long time!

Speaking of US Debut, what happened to their songs with Will.I.Am?? Did they intentionally do a US concert as part of their introduction to the US market as well as a prequel to their upcoming album which may contain BEP-produced songs? Sigh. The suspense is killing me!!
