u all guys have points in your individual opinion, and the only thing that we can do is giving Dara our undying love and support , coz i know for sure there will come a time that she wil get what she trully deserve! guys let us always spread our love to our godddess DARA!she’s the only reason why i have learn to love the other three member of 2ne1 coz whoever she cares for i do care also.
nyah, i cant help but to tell my side with this.
let’s just trust yg guys. i’ve been reading also comments from parkbomMinzyCL fans and they are also complaining on how dara gets a lot of screentime on 2ne1 CFs, TV guestings and Photo ads and we don’t care about it cause she’s our bias. I’m also not contented on how she was given few singing lines and that until now YG hasn’t showcase yet her vocals. But let’s look on the positive side, she is the most popular among the 4 and even with the other idols, yes she had haters but it cant be compare to the number of people loving her.
Let’s just take in mind that in the 2 years of 2ne1 in the industry, Dara’s fans are still growing, and she continue to receive some love because she is being in herself. that we fans are loving her not for superficial reasons but because she let us enter in her true self.
if we got surprise in her rapping skills in clap your hands, her dancing in INAG, her acting in It Hurts… then it doesn’t ends there. I know, Dara will keep surprising us all. Watch for it. ;D

DISCLAIMER:
This is my personal opinion, you can call it a rant or what not but I just want to let this out.
First, Dara is a member of a singing group (2ne1). If you are okay with the fact that Dara gets the least line in 2ne1 then you should skip this comment.
Second, I love Dara with all my heart and I want her to grow as a legitimate artist. A kind of artist where she gets acknowledge for her talent more than her charm or x-factor.
Now let’s begin, I wish that this 2011, YG will give Dara a platform where she can showcase her full vocal ability. May it be a solo song or a 2ne1 song but I doubt the latter cause To Anyone Album was like someone’s solo album feat. DARA and the other 2 members (sorry for bringing this up).
YG should stop doing this because this was not a very effective tactic, the mini-album did sell better since it had a pretty fair amount of lines among the four members. He should learn from this, but I doubt it would happen soon basing on the previews of their english album (Pls. God not again).
Yes, Dara does not possess a strong voice which for some translates that she isn’t as talented as the other 3. I acknowledge that fact, I guess that is why she has haters because of this. Haters will always think that she doesn’t deserve that spotlight since there are 3 other members which for them are more talented but that’s beside the point.
The point here is if we always settle and is okay with the fact the Dara get the least line then it is as good as saying as “I want her to not evolve as a REAL ARTIST”, “I want Dara to always be the 4th best”, “I want Dara to just be cute and entertaining”, the list goes on and on.
As a fan, it really saddens me that some of you guys are okay with this. I mean I personally want her to be respected as a singer not just an entertainer. I also acknowledge that Dara needs to do something with it, she needs to have more confidence in what she is capable to do but sadly I think Dara overthinks to much. She sometimes let her fears rule her, that is why I think she thinks that she is the least talented among the four, so she settles and is okay with getting the least line.
It can also be contributed to the fact that she is one of the nicest person in the world, maybe she feels that they deserve more parts because she thinks they are better. If I were in her shoes I would fight for my lines but thank God that I am not Dara, Dara is very understanding and very humble to accept the amount of lines given to her. Also, please don’t give me that crap wherein “it’s not the amount of lines you get” because truthfully it is about the amount of lines a singer gets to sing.
Now, since I think the new album will be once again someone’s solo album then YG should give her a DRAMA or a MOVIE. If YG will not I will skin him alive (PEACE! JUST KIDDING!). YG already wasted Dara’s time and talent by not allowing her to do any acting projects in the last 2 years.
Therefore, as a fan I would love Dara to evolve as a legit artist but if YG can’t get her a decent platform to do so then might as well give her a DRAMA or a movie.

i feel alluded to when you mentioned dara’s in a singing group. i don’t wanna trigger another round of ranting, just want to show you where i’m coming from.
yeah, i do get disappointed watching her singing not just the fewest lines in most songs–those lines are really few. period. but i guess i see her more of an entertainer than a singer. that’s why i don’t get frustrated like some of you guys. i recently read bits of gd’s star diary(?) where he spoke about his own disappointments like being part of an idol group (bb) instead of just him & yb/ty, and mr. yg deciding to record his own composition as a bb song instead of his own. i’m sure other artists/idols–even those generally recognized as super talented–have also gone thru disappointments/ frustrations. so it’s not just you (and maybe dara too) who are feeling bad or hurting. now, you’re probably thinking this is not about gd & the others. this is about dara! maybe to you there’s only dara, but yg handles not only dara but other talents as well. actually, i was surprised to learn that she was the 1st to release a single when she’s not supposed to be the best singer in the group. maybe it was the timing of the beer ad. maybe yg recognized her drawing or star power and wanted to test it. i think that one of the reasons why she became part of 2ne1 was the public interest she generated w/ the i’m sorry mv.
although i feel proud, excited that she’s got lots of celebrity fanboys, or looks real pretty/a natural beauty in their photoshoots/ads/perfs, or is paired w/ all those guys, or when i read positive buzz about her, i can feel her sadness for being called as the face of 2ne1. she fought for her dream to be a singer, right, even when mr yg saw her potential in acting instead. now that she’s part of a singing group, her singing skills should be developed. 1st, as you’ve mentioned, dara should learn to be confident in her singing ability. i don’t know how she can do that so i’ll go to the next: let her undergo rigid training in breathing, vocalizing, whatever that will help her show to us she can be at par w/ the other girls in singing. she maybe dedicated to practicing, but i’m not sure about her training. i only saw 1 video of their voice lessons in 2ne1tv, and they were having fun instead of being serious about it.
this reply is kinda long and i’m even suggesting things when none of these would even reach dara or yg haha. how about you petitioning (or demanding!) yg to really develop dara’s voice? and you’re right, if yg didn’t plan to let her sing more lines, they should’ve let her go acting. but then she still has to practice their choreography since 2ne1’s perfs wouldn’t likely be so appealing without her. she does have the most wonderful expression onstage.

i am happy that dara is doing what she loves which is performing and making people happy. there is such a thing as overexposure- so far YG has been effective in giving their artists the right amount of airtime making fans excited for more.
reading some of the comments here are kinda disappointing, it seems that some of you are just contented to what she received in their songs! honestly guys, i’m tired of reading how hyper she is or how her part is always the memorable 1, i want to atleast read how amazing her voice is! not always how entertaining she is, she’s in the music industry after all, not in the entertainment industry guys! unfortunately for her fans, dara belongs to a singing group whose other members are better singers than her. BUT, who was the 1st to release a single after their debut? and have you noticed that in some of their songs, she got 1 of the–if not THE–catchiest part/s? (or maybe i’m just biased hahaha) she’s not the best dancer of the 4, but whose moves were the most memorable in “fire”? now, if 2NE1 is a group that does hosting or variety shows, she’ll likely be given the most exposure.

we all know that Dara can sing for sure, if she’s given a chance to have a solo song i’m sure she can do it… but as what GD says before YG knew something that most of them do not know such as the best timing and reasons before his artist is ready… Dara still needs consistency.. even cl/bom/minzy sometimes crack on their lines coz it’s difficult to sings especially during promotion period.. I’d love to see her get more lines too, but I’m thinking realistically. Clap is my favorite song in To Anyone because it features so much Dara, and although I want more lines for her in It Hurts, I can acknowledge the fact that Dara doesn’t have as much singing chops as the rest of the members.
Now, before anyone comes at me with pitchforks and torches, I’ve stanned Dara since the beginning and she is my #1 bias in Kpop. That doesn’t mean that I’m throwing reality and logic out the window, however.
Dara has a limited voice range. When she sings, it sounds like it’s coming from her upper body cavity and not her diaphram. Oh Yeah requires a lot of loud, high notes. Realistically speaking, Dara doesn’t have the chops to do justice to a Bom song.
But it’s not a bad thing.
Dara has more star power than the other girls in 2NE1 (I love them all, but I’m just trying to tell the truth here without rose-colored glasses), or most people in Kpop for that matter.
Take for example Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. In their rookie/debut days, Britney could dance as well as Xtina could but BritBrit doesn’t have the singing chops to do an Xtina song justice. Now, Britney can’t even go through a whole concert without lypsincing (and she forgets her lines!), much less sing an Xtina song. Xtina could sing circles around Britney now; Christina could still belt out songs like a mofo. And Burlesque is 50x better than Crossroads would ever be.
But who is the bigger star?
Britney is, and Xtina would forever be jealous. Why? Because Britney has more star power in her finger than Christina has in her whole body. Britney shines with it, crazy bald-head wielding an umbrella against the paps and driving with her kid on her lap without a carseat or not.
So Dara isn’t as talented in singing as the others, so what. So she doesn’t have as much lines as the others, so what. She might not be the dancing genius that Minzy is, the rapper that CL is, or the singer that Bom is, but she has heaps and heaps of star quality. Honestly, I would rather Dara be forever underrated rather than an overrated wannabe.

Hmmmmm…can’t help to noticed that you are okay with Dara getting the least lines. If you are then it’s a shame cause how can Dara grow as an artist when she always gets the least line. Dara may have the shortest line but she always stands out. You can’t help but watch her eventhough someone else is singing. In the entertainment biz, it’s not always about who sings, dance or act the best, but the one who entertains the best & Dara does that.
the important thing is that Dara always give her 101% perf.. even if most of the time she have the shortest line but still she manage to make it remarkable and make sure people will talk about it… Dara may not be as talented as her fellow 2ne1 sisters but what she have is the star power where not all talented people have.

Then here comes Dara and what does she do? She comes as her Krung Krung alter ego. She made me laugh so hard. You can tell TOP and GD were also flabbergasted. She might have a small part but she left the biggest impact. I am really proud of her. 🙂

2nd time watching….the oh yeah perf….dara is sooo adorable….she’s not really afraid of being crazy….LOVE IT..made me really smile,,,.but still would love to see her perform longer…LOL
dara_woo, don’t be sad. both their performances were awesome and very much alive. Dara is great in her attire and even her hair. any hair style fits her. cheer-up.
@ dara_woo me too! she always have the shortest line but we already know she’s not as good as the 3 members but how can she improved her self if they always give her short lines.2nd her we go again why she always have the craziest hairstyle we know that’s her trademark but pls. let Dara have a normal hairstyle like Cl,bom or minzy.Sorry for ranting but i just can’t help it may be bcoz i love dara so much that it hurt me so much like 100x if someone bash at her.Hope 2011 will be a good year for our goddess! Dara can go from very low to very high range. she can hit high notes but she can’t sustain them. like someone here has said, she needs to sing from her diaphragm.
i know so many 2NE1 fans are mindful of Dara having a crack but that’s not because she can’t sing. in fact, i dont think i ever found Dara having pitch problems unlike the others.
Hmmm…not liking your statement that she is not as good as the 3. However, that’s your opinion and I respect that. Dara has a soft voice, she ain’t a Diva. Unfortunately, she is in the group wherein the other members are really strong vocally. Before, I used to complain about Dara getting the least line and stuff but I realized that instead of complaining and hating on YG. I would chanel this energy to loving and supporting Dara more. We are all frustrated about her role in 2ne1 in terms of performance but it’s YG’s decision. She is as good as the other three, she may not have the strongest vocals but she brings it everytime.
i don’t think its yg. coz teddy oppa is the one creating the songs and he is also the one chopping it into pieces, dividing it to the members. if you watched the 2ne1TV season 2, wherein the first time they were introduced to Will.I.am of Black eyed peas, its teddy oppa who keeps instructing will.i.am which part is to be sung by each member, right? even in “ït hurts” which is already slow, dara still got the shorter part, but she performs it the best she can. we just keep hoping the best for her this 2011. Dara keep working with your voice lesson.

I love both performances. As usual YG artist always give their best when it comes to live performances. The 2nd one is really cool not only Bommie get to sing “Oh Yeah” with GD & T.O.P but Minzy, CL and Goddess D as well. I’m sure the Daragon fans are happy when GD put his arms around Dara he-he… Happy New Year!!!^_^
