I believe Dara did her part well on this song, she improved a lot. I notice her voice fit with the song of J Lo’s “Get Right” when 2NE1 did guesting a year ago in KJH Chocolate, she sang that song so well. Like what the other fans who posted in All Kpop in regards to her voice, Dara needs a song that will fit her voice and YG or Teddy or whoever is their voice coach needs to know how to tone down her high pitch voice instead of using auto-tune coz our Goddess can really sing. I notice our girls has different tone of voice that can be in perfect harmony if they have good song to match their voice. Though I have no complain with all their original songs. ^_^

Exactly! She definitely can sing “Dadalhin” (which is a very high-ranged song) when she still was in the Philippines. And to think she still didn’t have the vocal training she’s getting now at that time. I bet she can sing that song better now. She can definitely pull off high-ranged songs as long as it fits her voice.
I hope in one of their future radio guestings, each member performs a solo song and I hope Dara-unnie sings “Smile In Your Heart”. I’d love to hear her sing that again.
I love “Smile In Your Heart” too… Ya that song fits to her voice… I remember her album sold more than 50k pcs. alone here in the phils… I hope YGE also distribute the 2NE1 album here, even tho i already hav the album, but a lot of ppl still not familiar to 2NE1 but if they said Sandara Park WOW, definitely they buy the album (sorry to say but we kpop lover learn/know the kpop artist tru internet), and a lot more not familiar to them.. If they distribute the album, more played in radio, definitely not just 50k can sold…

i believe Dara can really showcase her singing potential IF only they would give her the appropriate parts of the songs! Sometimes i questioned YG….is he not confident on Dara’s ability to pull a high note song that he keep giving Dara either a few lines or auto tuned her voice! So frustrating as a Dara fan!! I know she can do it…people just need to give her a chance! SORRY FOR RANTING HERE….anyways Dara u always make me proud everytime u performed cuz to me i rather see someone who continue to improve themselves and impress me everytime than seeing someone who sing da same and no changes on them!
Amen to that! I feel the singing coach is not really doing his/her job, with regards to Dara. When you’re a singer, a good song is not just needed. It must also match your range, and showcase the best of your abilities. Gah! It’s so frustrating whenever a mismatch happens..
This is sometimes i hate yg ,why they doing this to Dara,she can sing ,and they giving her parts that not suited to her voice,give her more lines to sing,she can also sing in high notes,shes good at it,they always make her look that shes not good enough which is very unfair to her ,stop using her just for promo coz shes very popular,aside from being beautiful shes very talented ,good person inside and out,oh im sorry ….i just cant help it …love Dara and 2ne1….Im so broken hearted…

I gotta be honest, BHG isn’t the type of song for Dara-unnie’s vocal range. But she did good in her parts. She did struggle in her low notes. Again, not her fault ‘coz it’s not in her usual range. The other girl’s also had a little bit of problem in the beginning. I guess Dara-unnie should just stop holding back and be more confident. She can sing well and she’s definitely improving everytime. Overall, it was a pretty good cover. I guess Minji-yah owned most of the song. I wish they’d do cover songs wherein all girls would get to showcase their vocals. And I wish they’d give Dara-unnie more lines. I’d love to hear her sing more in English. I’d like to hear them sing ‘Telephone” next. I think the song suits each of the girls’ voices. Anyway, that’s just me. Keke. 🙂
my thoughts exactly..id like to hear dara play with her range and try diff type of songs, i hope they could also give her challenging parts or verses, she can definitely do it, as long as she fully believes in her potential..

well for me,i most like dara ‘s voice in here..it’s so refreshing to hear.it’s like breathing a fresh air(i’m not saying this because i’m a dara biased)u know…the other three’s voices are amazing as usual but for me there’s nothing special on their voices anymore even though they are such powerful voices,simply becuse it’s already common..almost all singers have those kind of voices,so it’s not new to hear but for dara..i don’t know about u guys but for me when i hear her sing her part…i feel enlighten. and will surely sooth ur aching heart….and so i prefer her to sing song like this(only her alone)and by that u will certainly appreciate the calming effect of her voice. …
Wow. You have a point there.. I think what Dara needs most is confidence in herself. She’s got a really sweet, refreshing voice.. So different from most singers nowadays (the highly-commercialized, yet irritating as hell “girly” range, as well as the power vocals that are mostly in the alto – mezzo soprano range). I would love to hear her sing this song alone..
Also, I really want to teach her some breathing techniques.. What I’ve noticed in the way she sings, she pronounces her words so strongly, like she’s talking, but really.. singing requires a bit of finesse in the way you pronounce the words (which is why CL rocks her rap parts). I love Dara, and my blood boils everytime people say that she can’t sing. But she can.. she only need confidence, and maybe the right person to teach her how to improve more, hone her skills.

Amen! 🙂 I really hope their vocal coach give more focus on how she can improve her technique in singing. She can definitely deliver when it comes to tune & voice quality. I think she still lacks in breathing techniques ‘coz it seems like she takes in a whole lot of air but releases it immediately, causing the end of her lines to sound softer and/or out of breath. That’s also my problem when I sing. I easily run out breath. I guess that’s just about what’s important when it comes to singing along with the other techniques. I do hope Dara-unnie can improve more on those fields very soon. Given the amount of time she’s improved, I guess it won’t take long. And I’d love to hear her develop a vibrato. Imagine what her sweet voice would sound like with it. 🙂 Keke. I think I’ve said too much already. Anyhoo, I wish Dara-unnie all the best & I hope she continues to improve in what she loves doing. 😀

they’re all good! this group continues to improve and amaze me..without being biased here,i also happen to like dara’s voice, i guess she just needs more conviction, having a soft voice doesn’t mean she’s weak, she has good range, i just feel that she just tries to hold herself back, she hit the right notes and shes’ never off-key (that’s a good start and stable foundation in singing)..she’s good in blending in (meaning she uses her ears, when singing, hearing yourself is very impt).. she just needs to learn some breathing techniques (i guess bom improves in this)..do your own thing dara! your voice is fresh and unique..however, for this song, they gave her parts that are not her range (pertaining to super low notes, minzy fits the part), i guess dara could pull-off the verse part, maybe they should also risk giving dara challenging parts..as a singer, it’s not a requirement to totally copy the version of the original singer, you could do your own thing, as a singer myself (insert randomness kekeke), as long as you know your range, play with the tune, do your own riffs and runs and just feel the song, dont think too much of the high or straining notes, just listen to the message of the song and let the rhythm flow in you..with that being said, i see dara’s potential, her voice is just pure freshness, she CAN definitely sing.i am sure of that.

But, ah.. I can’t really listen to Broken-hearted girl. I mean, I really think Dara’s voice is not really suited for the song. Don’t get me wrong. I think Dara’s voice is kawaii, and so sweet. But I really think she’s suit acoustic genre better than ballad and hiphop. I just KNOW she’d be good there. Right now.. hmm.. Her voice is just too different from the other girls.. Though in most of their songs, she blends really well. But in others.. the difference is in the ranges is getting too obvious.

Lol I had to watch the performance again when I read this comment xD what shocked me about her voice in brokenhearted girl was how loud, clear, and confident she was. Her voice became weak in certain parts(was it the English?) but overall all it was good! I just hate it when anti’s say she can’t sing b/c she can it’s just not as powerful as the other three. lol I love it when 2ne1 does ballads but I dread it for Dara because you’re right it always shows the difference in talents and it makes it so painfully obvious ; A;
