Se7en Goes for Military Enlistment – “Thank You For All Your Support. I Will Miss All of You”

Sandara Park and Gummy Rumored to Have Been in Location to See Se7en Off

2013031913405549662_1

On the afternoon of the 19th, singer Se7en enlisted into the army at Uijeongbu 306 Reserve.

On that day, Se7en told reporters who gathered to cover his enlistment, “As all men are mandated to join the military force, I will finally enlist. I am sorry for that I had to enlist at such a late age,” he said. He also said, “For two years, I will not be singer Se7en, but would be soldier Choi Dong Wook. I will try my best.

Although Star News reported that no YG Entertainment artists went to see Se7en off because of “security purposes” owing to the large number of fans that went to the area (though in the same article, Se7en said that they wanted to go, but YGE discouraged them to), OBS News reported thatFellow YG Entertainment artists, 2NE1′s Sandara Park and Gummy, went to the location to see Se7en off. Se7en acknowledged the support of his labelmates, ‘I am grateful to my fellow artists who never stopped showing their support until this moment,’ he said.

Unfortunately, until this time, there are no pictures as of yet, to evidence that Dara and Gummy did indeed go to the location to see him off, although sources do guarantee that they can at least confirm Dara at the location. It might be that the two artists decided to stay in a safe location away from the crowds so as to keep the focus on Se7en himself, and only a few reporters noticed them. However, whichever way it is, their support for Se7en is sure.

Se7en also revealed that he would miss group 2NE1 the most. He revealed to reporters at the location that, “I will really miss 2NE1,” he said, “They are colleagues that have always been close to me,” he further states. He also revealed that, “Before I left, 2NE1 cheered me on a lot,” speaking of their close relationship.

Meanwhile, Se7en released the song, “Thank U” with an MV, in gratefulness for fans who have supported him in his 10-year career.

Article: Will.i.am’s ‘Willpower’ Album to Feature 8-Year-Old Rapper, K-Pop Act

2NE1 to be featured in Will.I.Am’s upcoming album “Willpower”. I’m really excited for this, it could be “Take The World On” but I hope it’s a new song.

image

With a huge hit featuring Britney Spears and his latest single alongside Justin Bieber, will.i.am is finally ready to unleash his long-awaited solo album. And if the guest features are anything to go by, it will be worth the wait.

#willpower, the Black Eyed Peas frontman’s fourth solo album will arrive April 23. It will, of course, feature “Scream & Shout”, his Spears collab, and “#thatPOWER” the Bieber feature.  Diddy, Lil WayneWaka Flocka Flame and Hit-Boy—who all appear on the “Scream & Shout” remix—will also appear, most likely, via the remix.

The rapper boasts an impressive lineup on the album, including Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Skylar Grey, Juicy J and Eva Simons. He’ll also reunite with BEP member apl.de.ap on a track—though no Fergie or Taboo.

Eight-year-old rapper Baby Kaely, who joined up with will.i.am for a tribute to the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, is also featured, along with popular K-pop act 2NE1. Will’s rumored to be producing the latter outfit’s debut English album and this may be the first taste of what’s to come.

Job well done, Will. We’re definitely intrigued to see what you’ve cooked up this time.

Interview: Yoo Min Kyu “I Like Amanda Seyfried and Sandara Park, I Think of Them While I Act my Role”

Yoo Min Kyu was recently interviewed by MyDaily for his new movie, “Kisaragi Mikki Jjang,” where he plays the role of Iemoto, one of the five “uncle fans” or “otakus” who gathered together at the death of their idol, celebrity, Kisaragi Mikki. In the movie, Iemoto says “I am an encyclopedia when it comes to Mikki-chan.“ With his tall frame and handsome face, the interview delves on how Yoo Minkyu would carry out being someone who loves another so zealously and loyally in real life and how he would go about it as his character in the movie, Iemoto.

201303061059161115_3

I did worry over how to act as one of the leads, Iemoto. Being in film and theater gave me a solid foundation on acting, but how I would come out with this particular character had me a bit worried. I personally like Amanda Seyfried and Sandara Park. So while I was acting, I was thinking of them too.

Basically, Yoo Min Kyu is worried over how to act as an ultimate fanboy of a celebrity, like his character in the movie is. So he thinks of Amanda and Dara, celebrities that he likes and then how he would act if he were going to be a full-blown, crazy-over-you, with encyclopedia-knowledge fanboy over them. He’s already a fanboy, well he considers himself a fan anyway, but can you imagine Yoo Min Kyu going all otaku over Dara?! Kekekeke! OMG I really think he’d make a cute otaku, buying her merch, albums, and all! He makes a cute fanboy, don’t you think? ^^

More on Yoo Min Kyu: He starred in the drama, Shut Up Flower Boy Band and To The Beautiful You. He’s an up-and-coming actor, but he landed on these two successful dramas already!

But don’t you guys think he looks familiar?

30000162898

That’s right! He’s Dara’s “Candy Man” in her trilogy-CF for Nikon! Do you remember him yet? Kekekeke! I guess Dara left him quite the great impression for him to think of her while acting as an otaku! ^_^

Article: Manila Bulletin – “Sandara Tries Fashion Via Elle”

Sandara Tries Fashion Via Elle

2013_03_07_01_1317

Sandara Park, now simply known as Dara, a member of the Korean girl group 2NE1, has posed for a fashion magazine.

After sporting a half-shaved hairstyle last year, the former Kapamilya talent who earned the moniker “Pambansang Krung-Krung ng Pilipinas,” is featured in a fashion spread for Elle Korea’s March 2013 issue.

Sandara channels the beauty of white and femininity in a series of photos wearing various signature brands like Gucci and Chanel, as released by the publication on its official website. Reports say that her ring with a large stone in one of her shots is a 100-carat pink diamond.

The magazine feature titled “Say My Name” traces the singer’s roots in showbiz in the Philippines until she became the famed Dara of 2NE1. She also used the name Park Sandara instead of Sandara Park.

Sandara revealed in her Elle interview, “Nowadays, even I myself feel awkward when someone calls me Park Sandara instead of Sandara Park. It sounds weird to me.”

The 30-year-old explained that she got used to being called Sandara Park, the name she was known for when she was in the Philippines and one that she continued to use for 2NE1.

Since finishing runner-up on ABS-CBN’s defunct reality talent search “Star Circle Quest (SCQ)” in 2004, Sandara juggled between stints in both film and TV while fulfilling her dream to become a recording artist. It was in 2007 when she decided to leave for her birth place South Korea, to try her luck in showbiz. In 2009, Sandara became a seminal member of 2NE1.

“I was young back then. I don’t think I’d be able to do that now. I received a lot of love in the Philippines so it hurt my heart, but I wanted to tackle a new challenge in Korea. I think I came fearlessly because I could be a part of YG (Entertainment), which had been my dream,” Sandara recalled in the same Elle interview.

She also related feeling awkward at first around her group co-members. “It was incredibly awkward. But when the three of them ate or practiced alone, I approached them first. That’s probably why we got closer quickly. I think now, the three members protect me and take care of me instead.”

As announced by the group’s record label and talent agency YG Entertainment, the rest of 2NE1 members will also appear in different fashion publications: Park Bom for Allure Korea, Lee Chae Rin (aka CL) for Bazaar Korea, and Minzy for Marie Claire Korea.

Article: Which Idols are the Biggest Fans?

I guess the hosts are not aware of the lengths that Dara goes to to support her fellow YG artists! ^_^ Always promotes 2NE1, flew to the Philippines to support Big Bang, always watches their concerts, flew to Japan to support Se7en and went to Gummy’s fanmeeting. ^_^

20130305_dara_key_sunggyu

This week on MBC Every1‘s ‘Weekly Idol‘, idols were asked “Which idols are the biggest fans of other celebrities?

Since idols are people themselves, they also have their own favorite artists. The survey revealed just who was a fan of which celebrity.

The nominees for the top 7 list included TEEN TOP‘s L.Joe, who is a big fan of G-Dragon2NE1‘sDara, who flew from the Philippines to Korea to see Lee Hyori, and SHINee‘s Key, who is an officialBoA fan club member.

However, the #1 spot went to INFINITE‘s Sunggyu. You may think that he got on the list because ofhis love for HyunA, but he actually ranked on top because of his love of the band Nell. Not only does Sunggyu admit he’s Nell’s #1 fan, they even work for the same company and Nell worked on producing Sunggyu’s solo album.

Article: Hilltop Views Online – The American Mainstream Only Gets a Taste of Asian Pop Music

513571f2c7db9.preview-300

This time last year, the majority of Americans had never heard of K-pop. Then, of course, came “Gangnam Style,” which people should probably be sick of by now but is still worth mentioning.

Psy’s “Gangnam Style” gave the American mainstream a glimpse into the shiny, high-octane world of Korean pop music. The song became so viral it garnered attention from American news networks like CNN, with speculation as to what the song’s popularity could mean for both American and Asian music markets.

Recently, the Asian-American pop group Aziatix signed a deal with Cash Money Records, a mainstream American record company home to artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil’ Wayne. With this move, it might seem like Asian pop is starting to break into the American musical consciousness.

What’s funny, though, is that the select examples of Asian pop trickling into the American mainstream aren’t necessarily the epitome of “mainstream” in the Asian markets that produced them. Psy’s first five albums, prior to his contract with big Korean label YG Entertainment, came nowhere near the success of “Gangnam Style.”

Aziatix is far from the typical Asian pop group, either. Only one of the group’s members was born in Korea, and all three were raised in America. The group is also more popular in Japan than in Korea. On top of that, most Aziatix songs are in English, and the group has had more tour dates in the U.S. than in any other country.

Meanwhile, some of the most popular musical groups in Korea and Japan, like Girl’s Generation, 2NE1, BIGBANG, SHINee and 2PM have all tried their hand at breaking into the American mainstream, with concerts in New York and Los Angeles and devoted groups of American fans. But none of this popularity can even brush America’s viral obsession with Psy’s bizarre lyrics and quirky presence.

Still, many of the albums and music videos these groups put out exemplify Korean pop music’s long-time love for Western culture. English words and verses are typical in mainstream K-pop. Big-budget music videos showcase Western fashions and concepts similar to American pop videos.

BIGBANG and 2NE1 in particular have taken cues from American culture in terms of fashion and musical style, and Girl’s Generation’s newest music video trades their usual uber-feminine aesthetic for more powerful hip-hop dance moves. Despite this ongoing cultural mash-up, Asia’s love for American music culture remains somewhat unrequited.

It seems the groups that actually try to break into American markets face a unique predicament: the mainstream tastes that brought fame to such songs as “Gangnam Style,” “Call Me Maybe,” Taylor Swift’s entire discography, and good old “Dragostea din tei” (the numa numa song) can be highly unpredictable, even baffling. As a result, the piece of Asian pop music introduced to America through Psy and Aziatix is just that– a piece.

Article: 2NE1, Se7en and Sean to Participate in a Charity Concert

2NE1, Se7en and Sean will be showing off their talents to help those in need.

Article

On March 7, 2NE1, Se7en and Sean will appear in the 2013 Severance Love Share Concert. 2NE1 and Se7en will perform, while Sean will give a lecture on his history of sharing.

The YG Entertainment singers were brought to join the concert through their agency′s campaign ′YG With′. The campaign donates profits from the YG singers′ concerts, albums and goods sales, and leads YG artists to participate in many charity events.

Sean even currently heads the ′10,000 Won Miracle′ project. The collected funds will be used to build a childrens′ rehabilitation hospital.

In order to expand its efforts toward goodwill, YG signed a campaign agreement with Severance Hospital in 2011. In January 2012, 2NE1 visited Severance Hospital to meet hearing impaired children in the children′s ward and deliver its donations.

The 2013 Severance Love Share Concert is a free concert that invites donators and others who have applied. Ha Ji Won, Lee Su Geun and more celebrities will also appear this day.
